Nicole Suárez: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! (The lights dim to black as Sunshine Vision lights up, showing a clip from the classic Ghostbusters movie with Peter, Ray and Egon in an elevator...) Ray: You know, it’s just occurred to me -- we really haven’t had a completely successful test of this equipment. Egon: I blame myself. Peter: So do I. Ray: No sense in worrying about it now. Peter: Why worry? Each of us is wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back. Ray: Yep. Let's get ready. Switch me on. (As Egon walks over and switches on the proton pack, "Ghost Busta Rhymes" by Ludachrist kicks in with pyros exploding from Sunshine Vision. Bryant steps out onto the stage and throws an arm up into the air, soaking in the cheers of the fans before power walking down to the ring, slapping hands on either side along the way...) Nicole Suárez: Introducing first... from Tucson, Arizona... weighing 260 pounds... BRYANT TANNER!!! (Tanner slides into the ring and hops up onto the second turnbuckle, egging the fans on in their cheering before jumping down and getting set for his match. After a brief moment of silence, the thrashing start of "Overcome" by Creed blasts over the sound system as the lights begin to flicker around the entrance way. A few seconds pass before Don E. Devlin makes his way out from behind the curtain, shooting his arms out to his in a crucifix pose as he makes his way towards the ring...) Nicole Suárez: And his opponent... from Toronto, Ontario, Canada... weighing 227 pounds... DON... E... DEVLIN!!! (Clasping hands with a number of fans as he does so, Devlin hops up onto the apron from the floor and faces the crowd. Shooting his arms out once again, he takes in the fans approval before stepping through the ropes and into the ring...) Matt Ford: The bell rings and Don E. Devlin is on the offensive immediately with a running lariat that knocks Bryant Tanner back into the corner. Tanner comes out swinging, but Devlin grabs him and sends him down with a side belly to belly suplex Devlin boots Bryant Tanner back into the corner again and then goes for a hip toss, however Tanner counters with a hip toss of his own... BLOCKED by Devlin! Willy Williams: Don E. Devlin grabs Bryant Tanner by the head and spins into position for a crucifix drop. Devlin hits a float over sleeping neckbreaker and makes the lateral press cover! ONE! TWO! Willy Williams: Devlin gets his shoulder up! Matt Ford: As the pair get to their feet, Tanner doubles Devlin over with a kick to the midsection, following it up with a snap suplex! He then proceeds to lock in a scissored sleeper hold on the mat... however Don E. Devlin is able to get to the ropes for the break.Tanner gets to his feet and waits as Devlin pulls himself up using the ropes. Tanner quickly moves in and executes a pendulum backbreaker! Willy Williams: And there's a cover once again by Tanner! ONE! TWO! Willy Williams: Devlin kicks out again. Bryant Tanner pulls Don E. Devlin up to his feet in the middle of the ring, hooking him for a suplex. Matt Ford: Tanner then proceeds to hit a series of suplexes before taking Don E. TWO! Matt Ford: Bryant Tanner is trying to put Devlin away here early but he's hanging in there. Both men are back up to their feet and Tanner throws a right hand... BLOCKED! Devlin responds with a hard knife-edge chop to the chest! Crowd: WHOOOOOOOOOO!!! Willy Williams: Tanner quickly follows it up with a standing enziguri! As both men regain their footing, Devlin again stuns Bryant -- this time with a headbutt before Irish whipping him into the ropes... Bryant Tanner holds onto the ropes... and Devlin PUTS HIM DOWN HARD WITH A CRUNCHING CLOTHESLINE! There's the cover but a lateral press only -- no hook of the leg! ONE! TWO! Willy Williams: This time it's Tanner who kicks out. Matt Ford: Devlin drives Bryant Tanner back into the corner with a series of heel kicks and then pummels him with big time rights and lefts. Don E. Devlin tries to follow up with a tornado DDT, but Bryant Tanner instead lifts him from around the waist and drops him split-legged on the top rope. Bryant Tanner hits the ropes and clotheslines Don E. Devlin off and down to the floor! Tanner quickly drops down for a cover and hooks the leg! ONE! TWO! Matt Ford: Devlin's able to kick out at two! Willy Williams: Bryant Tanner pulls Don E. Devlin up and sends him into the ropes, maneuvering behind him into a sleeper hold. Devlin is fighting it, but Bryant has it hooked in really well and he can't get away -- until he hits a jawbreaker. As they get to their feet, Devlin leaps up for a head scissors takeover, but Tanner shrugs him off to the mat! Matt Ford: Tanner assists Devlin in getting up to his feet before firing him off into the ropes for a back body drop... but Don flips and lands on his feet -- only to catch an elbow smash to the back of the head that sends him out of the ring. Devlin quickly re-enters, albeit a bit groggy, where Tanner nails him with a shoulder spear. He attempts to follow it up with a snap leg drop however Devlin is able to roll out of the way in time Willy Williams: As both individuals get to their feet, Devlin attacks with a series of right hands and chops before collapsing Tanner to the canvas with a cymbal slap to the ears. With his opponent grounded, Devlin bounces off the ropes and hits a leaping knee to the face of Tanner -- making the cover and this time hooking the leg! ONE! TWO! Willy Williams: No! Only two! Matt Ford: As both men get to their feet, Tanner ducks under an attempted clothesline and hits a VICIOUS spinebuster. Don E. Devlin gets to his feet quickly but Bryant Tanner kicks him in the gut and sets him up in a powerbomb position... NOTORIOUS DRIVER! Willy Williams: That was brutal! Matt Ford: Tanner with the cover on Devlin now! ONE! TWO! THREE! Matt Ford: And that'll do it for this one! Bryant Tanner emerges victorious! Nicole Suárez: Here is your winner... BRYANT TANNER!!! (The referee raises the hand of Bryant Tanner as "Ghost Busta Rhymes" by Ludachrist hits throughout the arena, the crowd cheering in approval. In the background, we see Don E. Devlin getting up to his feet as the scene fades out...) WINNER: Bryant Tanner (via pinfall) |
