Another thing, most counties here have antler point restrictions. You can only get one antlered deer but they must have at least 4 points on one side of the rack. Where I hunt is considered an urban zone, so I can shoot whatever deer I want. I don't eat the antlers anyways, and does always seem to taste better IMO, than the bucks. |

Bucks are the male deers, they have antlers. I've been told though that sometimes even a doe will have antlers. That's why they call them antlered deer and anterless in the hunting regulations book they have every year. Like I said, only 1 antlered deer may be taken a year by each hunter. You only get one 'any deer tag' you can use it on any deer you kill. After that you are only allowed to purchase an antlerless only permit. So if you shoot a doe and use the any deer permit, no chance to get a buck after that. To me I shoot the first thing that I see if it's a good size, I don't shoot fawns, not worth it. I don't care if it's a buck or doe because you can't eat the antlers. Lots of hunters like the trophy of a big antlered deer. I just want the meat so I don't care. Now it would be nice to have a big deer with a huge rack, don't get me wrong. |

Well, we seen 4 deer yesterday morning. My son missed though, I think he got too excited "buck fever". It was a far shot though, about 150 yards. Two more weeks and I can shoot at one and hopefully get it, if I see one that is. |
