I was like that both times I started up at IKEA. Ugh. I never want to work retail or food service again... Especially not combined! ;-; |

If you own a second pair of shoes, bring them to work with you and switch them out about halfway through your shift. It feels fucking amazing. Just taking your shoes off on breaks feels great, too. Also, dark chocolate or a swig of espresso and 15 minute naps are great, too. Edited by Enrei, Oct 28 2014, 12:46 PM.

Oh yeah, I took naps on my breaks all the time at IKEA. And yeah, if you're not required to wear a specific type of shoes (steel-toed boots or slip-free shoes are two good examples of what I'm talking about, though I don't think you'd need either of those on the floor), the multiple pairs thing is a great idea! |

I just got home. I'm tired, but more physically than anything. 8AM-5PM shifts for the next three days, oh my god ;_; |

15 minute naps? Not even worth it. |

I've actually heard that if you take six 20 minute naps spread out throughout the day, you'll feel more refreshed than you would with a full night's sleep. I've never tried it though. |

It takes me at least that long just to fall asleep. I only need about 5-6 hours a night and I'm fine. |

I've heard that too, but I don't know if it's supposed to enable you to sleep less at night or if it's meant to add to your normal sleep? And yeah, we meant physical exhaustion XD |

The worst part is that, typically, you're never going to be mentally exhausted after a job like that. Just full of mental energy and wantingness to do stuff, but the rest of your body is jelly and just wants to chill on the couch. |

I remember working in high school till 11pm, I had to unwind before I could sleep every night. After awhile work becomes easy, it's just the job that sometimes sucks. Thankfully I have a job I love and actually enjoy going to work every morning. |
