Is it morally acceptable to circumvent laws when convenient?

You know, the whole "it's only illegal if you get caught" stuff.

I think it really depends. For example, I torrent shit all the time. I would also not be opposed to violating a few minor traffic laws if I still had a car... like running a red light if it's nighttime and no one is around.

In general though, I don't adhere to the law simply for the sake of adhering to it. I have no incentive to do that. If I feel something is inhibiting to my interests and I have a pretty good idea I can get away with not obeying that thing, then I definitely won't.

How do you guys feel?

Morality is subjective.

"Act only according to that maxim whereby you can, at the same time, will that it should become a universal law." (- Kant) is basically what I use to evaluate how I feel about things being "right" or "wrong"

I'm fine with people pirating, drinking under aged, stealing food if they don't have any alternative, and so on, because these are all things I'm fine with myself doing.

I'm not fine, of course, with murder or rape and a lot of other things, and so I don't do them and expect others not to.

Morality is subjective.
Agree with this basically.

That's really a cop out answer when you're given a specific example and asked your own opinion...

Funny you don't say that to Lotus, but only me, now why is that?

I didn't think multiple people would say it.

On it's own, just saying morals are subjective and nothing else is just like "Well, other people can have other opinions so I don't need to state mine or even have one."

Still, you only bring it up when I say it, not when Lotus says it. Like I said, if you could read, I was answering the topic title.

On the topic, there's way too many examples to express myself clearly. I asked several questions and brought up discussions last night in at least 3 topics, you didn't respond to any of them. This isn't even a topic you started or asked a question in, so I don't see why you care so much anyways. Hypocrite much?
