I don't think I even posted in those topics, period. So, there's that. Like I said, I wasn't going to pick a fight at "morality is subjective" if only one person said it, and the reason I have an issue with the answer is that I just don't think it is an answer. "What are you opinions on the morality of wearing tie die shirts? I think it's awful!" "I think morality is subjective!" "Yeah, but, do you think tie die shirts are good or bad?" "SUBJECTIVE" |

Your examples always make no sense, I think I lose brain cells even reading them. Truth is you only said anything because it was me that said it and not your buddy Lotus. |

I was going to say something, but I'm more waiting for Kori to post and tell us exactly what he wants out of this thread. I don't have a problem with the examples provided, though I hope you don't speed in neighborhoods or something, since you never know when a child or animal might come out in the street. |

Not to mention more and more places are using speeding/redlight cameras, so you could still wind up with a ticket for skipping a light at night. |

I only speed on the highway, everyone else does and I just go with the flow of traffic. I don't like people flying around me I feel more comfortable in the fast lane. |

It is an answer, maybe you shouldn't get so upset about an opinion? Especially something that you didn't even ask about? |

Also, I think both of you are being silly. It is not that unbelievable that he is not singling you out, I do similar things in my threads on other sites when people start repeating the same wrong answer, I always expect at least one idiot so I don't pay them any mind unless multiple people are doing it. And if Enrei is going complain about it, he can at least contribute to the topic at hand. |

I was going to say something else, but I liked Lotus' answer, it pretty much sums it up. Everyone has their own beliefs of what is right and wrong, there's just way too many examples to pinpoint an exact answer. Especially when the question was not on one instance but on it's only illegal if you get caught. |

I did. I mentioned a quote from Kant on his categorical imperative and said that's how I try to frame my moral opinions for things like this. And even if you (the two of you who've said it so far and anyone else who might want to say that as their answer) do think morality is subjective, you still hold some sort of definite opinion on the topic, so what is that opinion and why do you hold it? Would you pirate things or speed or steal just because you wanted to? Are there situations where you'd think you're "in the right" to break those laws? Do you hold others to the same standards, or are you giving yourself a different set of standards? Edited by Enrei, Oct 30 2014, 08:12 PM.
