THE CHAMPION OF WEAPONS Best Weapon Contest / Tournament Objective: Distinguish which weapon in the Video Game world is the overall best; in terms of power, speed, usage, capacity, durability, abilities, and performance. Summary: Weapons will be nominated to participate in the contest. Any weapon can be nominated, but not all of them will be approved (example: Eclipse Cannon from Sonic Adventure). After nominated, a tournament style bracket will decide the match ups, each battle announced before hand. You do not “vote” poll style on your favorite, when a battle begins we will discuss each weapon opposing each other and debate about the abilities and the outcome. A winner will not be decided upon until there is an agreement of the victor, making it a true contest of which weapon will surpass all others. If a debate gets out of hand and a victor cannot be called, a Moderator will have to take action and decide amongst other Moderator’s (by voting) which weapon should win. General Rules: Once a contest is underway, please keep the conversation on topic. Going off topic is strictly forbidden, and if you don’t have something constructive to say about the debate then please stay out of it. Any point brought up about a weapon is valid, but proof may be required to justify a claim. During a contest, a debate can go on for a while before a victor is claimed. If it lasts too long, then either a Moderator can enter and say wrap it up and decide on a victor or a time limit will be given. If a time limit ends with no victor that they are both dropped out of the contest. UPDATED RULES BELOW: Let's say that all the wielders of these weapons are regular, average people. However, they do have the ability to wield the weapons effectively. So even though the Buster Sword is huge the wielder could still use it effectively. And even though the Master Sword requires the bearer or the Triforce of Courage, it can still be used by the regular person. For further information on this rule, please see this topic. http://s4.zetaboards.com/Nightmare_Asylum/topic/8119940/ An additional rule, no story abilities are valid for a weapons ability. Only usable, in-game abilities are valid for use with contestant data and debates. Tournament Rules: Tournament will be single elimination with 20 contestants. After a victor has won a battle, they move up the bracket and this continues on until an overall winner is claimed. Here is an example of the brackets: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/2593/bracket26singlecopy.jpg Keep in mind that is merely an example, and a custom bracket will be created when the contest is ready. Nomination rules: When nominating a weapon, keep in mind it needs to be able to work in this contest in order for it to be approved. When nominating, a separate thread will be created especially for this. Please say the name of your weapon, what game the weapon came from, who used it, and any other information that you feel is necessary. You may also post a picture, but keep in mind that all pictures will be selected by the staff of the contest. You may nominate any number of weapons that you want, but again keep in mind they may not be approved. If you really want a particular weapon to participate then let us know about that specific weapon and we will see what we can do. Debate rules: When discussing a battle, please be rational and understanding of other members and the contest itself. Think about your words before you say them, and please be as clear as possible when weapon debating. This contest is not all about one person, it is a group effort for the community, and respecting other people’s feelings and beliefs is required or you will be subject for moderation. Proof may be required to make a claim about your weapon. You can use a FAQs as proof, site wikis for proof, videos, or even images themselves. A Moderator may be called in if proving something in particular becomes a problem. FAQs: Q: What kind of weapons can you nominate? A: You can nominate any weapon, but weapons that will get approved generally need to be able to fight against another weapon. It will more than likely require a wielder. If a weapon is so unknown that you cannot find anything about it or it’s a very small part of a game it may not be approved. Q: If the contest staff is participating, how will I know that the tournament will be fair? A: if unfair play is called, then an outside Moderator will be called in the decide the outcome. If this cannot be done than an agreement must be made. If an agreement will not be made then both weapons are dropped out of the contest. Q: How many nominations can one person make? A: As many as you like, but keep in mind not all of them will be approved. Q: How can I get my weapon approved? A: Describe the weapon as clearly as possible. The selection will not be strict, just logical so the contest will go smoothly. Q: What if I didn’t get my weapon nominated on time? A: if you really want a weapon nominated and missed out on a discussion, please notify us and we will see what can be done. If there are several weapons that are similar, then unique weapons with variety may have priority over others to make it as diverse as possible. Q: When will this start? A: Once all the nominations are gathered and the tournament match ups are decided we will begin the contest after all the appropriate information has been gathered about each weapon. Q: When the contest starts, what if I don’t know much about a weapon? A: A comprehensive summary and description will be given for each weapon and also an image will be posted in the topic. Videos may be necessary as well. Q: How long will this take? Will we be doing more than one contest at a time? A: A worthy contest requires patience and research. It may take some time to get under way, but there will be time limits to speed things along. I think we should have up to two battle happen at the same time, but that’s the users call. Please see suggestions and feedback below. Suggestions and Feedback: Any and all suggestions are welcome! If you have other ideas or problems with any rules, simply let us know and we will be very open to change. If you want more than 20 weapons chosen for example, we can discuss about adding more or less. Keep in mind however we don’t want the contest to be overly long or become too tedious, so please be understanding. I have three ideas for what to name the tournament. As for right now, I’m going with The Champion of Weapons. If you have a better name then let’s hear it! I have other ideas but let’s decide on the title together. The Champion of Weapons Strongest Weapons Under The Heavens Weapon Judgment / Judgment of Weapons Thank you for reading, and please feel free to contribute in any way you want. Let’s make this an exciting, friendly, and user created contest! Edited by andaryu, Oct 25 2010, 03:11 PM.

This sounds great! 20 entrants sounds fine to me; any more may take too long, and I think any less would make it to small. I'm interested in seeing how this plays out overall. |

The bracket should be: 20 (2 at a time) 10 (2 at a time) 5 (all at once; top 2 move on) |

This is a great suggestion, I'm all for it. By the time we get to the final 5 we should have the flow of the tournament down so we can do it faster and handle them all at once. Does everyone agree? |

It's also easier to keep the amount of rounds down on the contest. It'll only be 16 or 17 rounds this way. |

I love the idea. Considering the vast number of weapons out in the video game world, this could turn out very interesting. |

Sounds pretty fair, and the method of elimination will definitely strike up some conversation! I'm sure I'm getting ahead of it all, but I'm nominating Megaman and A Thrown Prinny right now. |
