Battle 6: Mage Masher vs. Z Saber (First Round) Contestant Data: Mage Masher Origins: Final Fantasy series, most notably used by Zidane Tribal in Final Fantasy IX ![]() Description: A reoccurring dagger or short sword used in the FF series. Mostly seen being used by thief classes. Pros: - Can silence an enemy, being very useful against any mage - Using a short sword can give anyone the one-up in speed in battle - Can be dual wielded Cons: - Its small size allows it to be deflected easily. - The silence ability is only useful against magic users. ---- Z Saber Origin: Mega Man X2 ![]() Description: Zero wields a melee energy weapon known as the Z-Saber, a weapon with a blade composed of pure destructive energy. Zero uses this weapon to fight up close rather than at a distance and the beam sword is also capable of learning special techniques that enhance his Z-Saber power by empowering the blade with elemental properties. There are two versions of the Z saber: Zero from the past and Zero in the future. The main difference between these two is the future Z saber has had it’s limiters removed so that it has better range, power, and speed. Note: For the sake of this contest, let’s assume that the Z saber is in it’s past state and the limiters can be removed during battle to increase range, power, and speed. Pros: - Extremely powerful beam sword capable of cutting through virtually anything (see cons) - Very fast weapon, can be drawn and swung in an instant - Can remove weapon’s limiters to increase range, power, and speed - Can charge weapon’s power to unleash a powerful energy explosion - Z saber can use several techniques that enhance the blade with elemental properties. (fire, ice, thunder, etc) - Can erase small projectiles Cons: - Must be close range to attack with it - Can not cut through ultra condensed armor (bosses) BATTLE 6 BEGIN! The Z-Saber takes this easily. The Mage Masher stands no chance; it's just an almost-ordinary dagger, while the Z-Saber could simply slice through it with no problems. |

I agree. The Z saber has a lot of power and abilities over the Mage Masher which has speed and really only one ability which is useless here. The Z saber would probably cut right through the dagger's blade in a clash. Edited by andaryu, Oct 14 2010, 01:00 AM.

This is exactly why the Z-Saber has every advantage. If the wielder of the Mage Masher tried to block, the Z-Saber would easily cut it in half. The Z-Saber user would have to miss, and even so if the wielder was as fast as Zero is with the Saber, could easily get another cut in due to it's light weight. |

Z saber all the way. The wielder wouldn't even need special techniques or anything, so long as he makes contact with the Mage Masher it'll be destroyed, and then a simple stab or two would send so much energy(presumably electrical) through the opponents body they'd die instantly... |

Just in curiosity, does what the Z-Saber emits ever get explained? I don't think so, it's not like there's a lot of story in MMX. |

Not that I remember, but I always assumed the saber and megabuster ran off of electricity. It seems like the most efficient ammo for a robot to use, seeing as how it powers their entire body. |
