I'm just replying to andaryu's comment on Crysis' frame rate being choppy. |

I know it depends on your PC and for Crysis you need a powerful machine. It's not just a field of nothing, it's a massive world where you can explore every inch you see. There's caves, valleys, all sorts of environments. It's just comparing a powerful machine (PS3/360) on a nice HD TV is much better than a computer on a monitor. It really does make a difference seeing it live in good quality and I bet the same goes for Crysis. Like you said, can't judge quality on Youtube. |

That field had MUCH MUCH less to render than the area I showed you in Crysis. Crysis could've taken that same field and made it look 10X better. And you sit closer to your monitor, so I don't see why the size of them vs. HDTVs really matters. |

Nice to see my nomination getting votes, expected me to be the only one who voted for it... For the video Storm posted you have to consider the settings. That video is running 8x AA (AA will kill your FPS) and is running at 1920x1080 (that's 1080p HD for those who don't know). The reason the video is choppy is because of those things and the settings are on Very High. Now think about this: Crysis came out at the end of 2007. The game has such ridiculous graphics that computers still can't run it smoothly with max settings a little over 3 years later. |

In the defense of Crysis, it's able to run at full speed if you have a good enough computer. On the other hand, it will cost a lot more than a PS3. If you compare price to looks, XIII wins. Zidane: Just because most computers can't run it at full speed doesn't necessarily mean that it's that amazing. Perhaps when you get to the very high settings, the engine wastes more resources then it needs to, so even now not many computers can play it maxed out. Yeah, it looks good, but how much worse does one setting lower look? Not so terrible that it suddenly looks like crap. Edited by Polantaris, Feb 15 2011, 08:58 AM.

I think the gameplay of Crysis looks pretty good, too. Sure it's not very original, but that doesn't mean it's bad by any means. Why does everyone hate on it? |

Zidane: Just because most computers can't run it at full speed doesn't necessarily mean that it's that amazing. Perhaps when you get to the very high settings, the engine wastes more resources then it needs to, so even now not many computers can play it maxed out. Yeah you really don't need to tell me about computers... The game isn't the best optimized but even so it's still the game that every review site uses to benchmark video cards. And whether it runs well or not, no one can say any game looks more realistic. The video Storm posted isn't even the best, there's a mod that makes a setting called Ultra High that looks even better. I also forgot to mention that the guy who made the video was also recording at the same time. For those who don't know, recording can be a system hog depending on the program. For example, I get around 200FPS on a map I play in Counter-Strike Source but when I tried using FRAPS to record while playing that same map it dropped to about 150FPS. Oh and I counted the votes and this is what I got: Resident Evil 5: 1 Crysis: 4 Final Fantasy XIII: 3 Super Mario Galaxy 2: 0 Final Fantasy Dissidia: 0 Slash can recount as well just to make sure but I'm pretty sure that's right. |
