The one and only

Anyone here have any experience with this franchise? I've played a lot of them. My favorite is HM64. It's simplistic but fun. Anyone else like this series? |

I played Harvest Moon: Back To Nature a lot for PSOne back in the day and loved it. I haven't played HM recently, but my gf has played several of the more recent ones like Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility for Wii and Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley for PSP. She says there great, but all of the newer ones seem to be lacking something. I did play Rune Frontier for Wii, which is basically a new age Harvest Moon with anime style cutscenes and even a dungeon/RPG battle system. It was awesome, I want to check out the new one. |

HM64 was the first one I played, and I loved it. I would borrow it form a neighbor for months at a time, and when I finally moved from there, I'd emulate it every so often. I own the first DS one, which is pretty fun, but still feels lacking compared to the 64 version...My youngest sister really got hooked on it and got the 2nd DS game and the Wii version, which in my opinion wasn't a good game at all. |

Harvest Moon is awesome. My favorites in the series are HM64, Back To Nature/FoMT, and AWL (even if it does drag on and on and on). The SNES version is good too, but is way too simplistic. |

A while back I was playing Back to Nature on PSN. I played it for a while and thought it was pretty good, but I didn't get past the first spring because 1. I get bored of everything at the speed of sound and 2. I'm so bad at it If I can work out how to play it right, I'll probably get back to it sometime. Oh wow |

I can see why people like it, but I've never been a fan. Maybe it's just starting out that's slow, but I always found it a tad too slow for me. |

Is it slow at first, very very slow. But once you get going things speed up quickly and it becomes very rewarding game play. I've been playing Harvest Moon myself, but not your typical HM. I'm currently playing Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon for DS. It has the same principles of HM, but so much more added in. There's monsters, combat, weapon system, magic system, etc etc. There's so much you can do it's nearly overwhelming. On top of relationships and your farm, you also have several areas you can go to, to fight monsters for materials and stuff. There's an in depth craft/upgrade system, along with your typical HM cooking and item creation. You can even get monsters to join you in battle and have villagers become party members. I'm blow away by the amount of content, the game itself rivals many stand alone RPG's today. Edited by andaryu, Jul 18 2011, 03:03 PM.

I think I got my mother (Who likes RPGs herself) the original Rune Factory for Wii for Christmas last year. I had intended to try it myself but I forgot about it. |

I recently put Rune Factory 3 on my Acekard. I'm eager to try it out soon, since I've always heard great things about it. |
