I agree with Mai. The cel shaded graphics actually made the game. On the other hand, the shard hunting did indeed suck.
The cel style was alright, but I was pissed because a potential screenshot looked like TP, and I got wacky cartoons instead.

And though the graphics worked for the environments and enemies, I stand by my statement that Link himself looks like a fucking idiot.

I liked Wind Waker quite a lot. I'm actually one of the few people who likes the sailing segments.

I loved the openess of the whole thing and the adventure I always felt when playing the game.
The sailing part had adventure. Eventually.

It took way too long to get from Point A to Point B.

Most Zelda games in general are overrated. And yeah, I wasn't impressed at all with Wind Waker. I don't own it, but someone had me play it once years ago. The graphics were half of what killed the game for me. The cel-shading was ridiculous and looked very lazy. Not only did it make me feel too old to play it, but the NES had more colors than that. Skyward Sword doesn't look that much better, either. Oh, and the constant sailing was ridiculous, and like most Zelda games, it was hard for me to figure out what the hell to do (then again, I was a lot younger when I played it...).

Lotus, your argument there holds no weight at all unless you've sailed on a real boat. Keyword: SAIL, not motor. And motor-sailing doesn't count, either.

I actually liked some of the Triforce hunting too, especially Private Oasis and the Savage Labyrinth.

Read this, for more reasons the game is awesome imo: http://electriccavern.blogspot.com/2011/07/top-10-favorite-games-as-of-72211.html (it's #5 on the list)

Doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea for a video game, though.

My point was how ridiculously fast King goes >_>

This isn't real sailing. It's a Zelda game. And I found the sailing portions to be boring, and unfortunately that was like 60% of the game.

The sailing was fine. What sucked about the shard hunting wasn't actually the sailing (since by that point you had warp songs), but gathering the Rupees necessary to pay Tingle.

That's another thing amazing about Wind Waker: They made Tingle as a support character optional with the Tingle Tuner. Imagine having both King AND Tingle pestering you constantly with no way out ;A;
