This gives me more incentive to ask for one for my birthday.

I'm not surprised that the 3DS bombed at launch. Poor battery life, very overpriced (even in the US -- I mean compare it to all other handhelds that Nintendo has released), and weak game library.

Oops, I'm getting a bit off topic. Anyway, 20 free GB games is nice, but I already have a Game Boy, and since it was my first system, I have plenty of games for it. No need to get a new system just to buy them again. Except for maybe the Nintendo R&D1 games, since the cartridges they make have the most fragile batteries known to man.

Oh, and while the price drop is nice, I still don't really need one yet. It needs some decent games, and the price drop doesn't help the battery life either. Oh, and by the time I care about one, they'll just come out with an upgrade anyway. I still remember the time I got a DS in late 2005 (yes I know I got it rather late, nobody needs to tell me that), and a couple of months later, the DS Lite was announced. I was so annoyed.

Poor battery life
Do you really have 6-some hours to play handhelds on average when you leave your house? I managed to keep my DS or PSP battery alive even on international flights.

I've heard it's less than six hours. More like four.

My question still stands.

That's an interesting deal (Replying to the original two posts). I should sell some of my old computer parts and see if I can rake in $250 to take advantage of that before August 11th xD

First of all, they're giving out 10 free GBA games and 10 free NES games (for people who bought the system before August 12).

Secondly, Nintendo has said they won't be able to release an upgraded version of the 3DS for quite some time. They've packed the system to it's fullest extent and they'll basically need to be incredibly innovative or make the system bigger for a "3DS Lite," so to speak.

This is all kinda unsettling. Nintendo's having a bit of financial trouble, all right.
How're they going to turn this all around?

At least this'll make it easier for me to get a 3DS sometime.

Nintendo has been going downhill ever since Yamaguchi left (I believe that was his name, anyway). Anyway, yeah, Iwata is a shitty CEO... (though Fils-Aime is 1000x worse, and I don't even give a shit (certainly not two) if I spelled his name wrong)
