I think the biggest hit they've taken in recent times was when the Wii U was announced, apparently their stock dropped 10% overnight. That's a HUGE hit for any company.

Is that an Applejack avatar I spy there, Catbread? :D

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the free games. The lineup is looking solid already, and we only know half of 'em.

AFAIK every company sees a stock loss when they announce a new system.

Also, some of the executives are getting their salaries cut because of this...

Maybe, but Nintendo experienced the biggest one they've ever in like 10 years if I remember correctly. I remember reading up on it when it first happened. They said it was the biggest stock loss in either the company's history, or at least it's recent history. That's a huge loss. Combine that with not so amazing 3DS sales and you have the reason why they need to cutback. At least they are. Companies in the US wouldn't cut exec salaries, they would just fire a ton of people and call it a day. As much as NoA has been annoying people, I have to commend them for that (Even though it's not exactly NoA that did this). They did both the right and necessary thing. I'm sure they have plenty of money in their personal accounts anyway >_>

So the 3DS will be the price of a new DSiXL...

I didn't realize the 3DS was doing poorly enough for Nintendo to go to this extreme...
The 3DS bombed really hard at launch.
Because its library of games at launch was ABOMINABLE.

Duh. The only good games that are out and will be out are all ports (at least for a little while).

Examples:
–The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
–Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
–Star Fox 64 3D
–Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition

^And all four of those games are remakes, and two of them are from over ten fucking years ago.. You've GOT to be kidding.

Sadly, that trend started with the Game Boy Advance, where Super Mario Advance (a remake of the international SMB2) was one of the launch games. Not to mention, a very large portion of the GBA's library was ports/remakes of old games, mostly SNES ones, but also NES and GB as well (and sometimes worse than the originals). I see that the trend hasn't slowed down one bit in the past 10 years or so.

What really bothers me most is that people drooled so much over the OOT remake, when I barely cared about the overhyped game back on the N64. If you people want to play the game so badly, go play it on the N64! Oh, and I already have Star Fox 64 as well, no need to get that again.

I love remakes, personally. There are a lot of old classics that are so great you can play 20 times and never get tired of. Why play it on the N64 when you can play an even better version? I actually can't stand playing most original versions knowing that a superior version exists. If you don't like them, don't buy them and stop complaining. There are PLENTY of original titles to buy. Nintendo has been making way more original titles in recent years (with the exception of the GBA), even if they've also been remaking a lot more. I'm not defending the 3DS's library, though. It really is quite bad at the moment.

I think I'll hold out on buying a 3DS until a day or two before the cut, just to see if the upcoming games change a bit. I really kind of want those remakes, but I don't want a 3DS JUST for remakes.
