So basically, I followed the instructions found on this thread for GC backup games: http://gbatemp.net/t219243-neogamma-r9-beta-test? And in the following paragraph: - A GC backup compatible cIOS installed and used. For testing until it works, install cIOS37rev19, cIOS56rev20, cIOS56rev21 or d2x56v4(recommend). NeoGamma shows at the bottom of the screen which cIOS is used. If does not say: cIOS37rev19, cIOS56rev20 (slot 249), cIOS56rev21 (slot 249) or IOS249 (Rev 21004), you did not install the cIOS correctly. ...I downloaded d2x56v4 and installed it via the WAD Manager, as it suggested. Now I can play backup GC games on NeoGamma R9, but the problem is that it now asks me to perform a system update to use the disc channel. I'm guessing it will brick if I do, so I'm not going to do it unless someone tells me otherwise. I'm using system menu 4.3u, and I have siblings who use this console and would most likely update it without knowing. What do I do? >_<; EDIT: I just tried a (retail copy of a) Wii game with NeoGamma and it works, so thankfully I'm not totally screwed. I'm more worried about my siblings messing with the whole update thing and bricking the console. Is there any way to get the channel to work without having to update? I'm sure I can fix this by simply installing the IOS I was using before, but I'll only do that as a last resort. |

I got Neo Gamma awhile back so I could play a bootleg of Fatal Frame 4, and that worked decently. However, I did buy the actual copy later, and it does work better (surprise, surprise). The loading times are a bit better, and the cutscenes...work. :-P |

You will have to use Neogamma to launch all games now, Wii and Gamecube. If you use the disc channel to update chances are it will brick the system. Did you get the Gamecube back ups to actually work? I know it's a really hard process to get it working properly. Even if it loads the game, make sure it can still save and doesn't freeze up. Now that you've messed with the IOS in the system you must be very careful. If the wrong IOS is messed with it can permanently prevent you from going to the Shop channel and even prevent certain Wii games from working. Like Lotus mentioned cutscenes and loading times are the most effected points. Edited by andaryu, Aug 17 2011, 03:39 PM.

It's a homebrew channel that allows you to play Gamecube and Wii backups and even allow DVD playback. |

@Wolfen: It's hard to explain. It's homebrew-related. Andaryu pretty much nailed it though. @andaryu: Yes, Gamecube backups work now. However, I didn't try the game thoroughly; I just saw the title screen load and turned the system off after that. I suppose I should try it out more just to be sure. I hope the games do not freeze and the cutscenes work, because I want to play Xenoblade. =( |
