I just beat the third dungeon last night. Man I don't think I've enjoyed a Zelda like this since Majora's Mask.

The item found in the third temple was a surprise. I was expecting something else entirely. It kind of reminded me of the Odyssey:

I FINALLY finished beginner in the digging game. As in I finally got a game where I didn't have to rely on a guess. I always got nailed otherwise. I was actually jotting down each game on my whiteboard since I can't keep track of everything like Minesweeper. I was never good at the game anyway.

There was a side quest on Skyloft that appeared to have two paths. Hopefully I didn't miss out on anything.

Also, any down side to opening the chest we're warned against opening (if anyone's found it that is)?

Minesweeper! That's what the mini-game reminds me of. Any tips for it? I know the higher the rupee value the higher chance a bomb is near. I've got some extra money so I've been meaning to go back there and play more. Did you pay that guy 20 rupees for his tip? I was broke at the time.

I did pay him and it was very helpful. In a nutshell the color rupee you dig up determines how many bombs are around it (up, down, left, right, and diagonal).

Green: No bombs
Blue: 1 or 2 bombs
Red: 3 or 4 bombs
Silver: 5 or 6 bombs
Gold: 7 or 8 bombs

What makes it harder than Minesweeper is that you don't know exactly how many are touching any spot aside from green. There's a lot more guessing involved unless you get it set up just right.

I just payed him as well, his info is indeed helpful. I lost a ton of money playing this time, I can do beginner but the other ones I always get a bomb even if I start at the first row. I tried randomly picking one and got a bomb too, it's so random.

I just beat intermediate and discovered that rupoors count as bombs (which in turn might actually make it a bit easier), but instead of ending the game they take rupees. So far the rupee payout is a much better incentive to finish rather than the prizes. They're rare, but there's probably an easier way to get them somewhere else.

Expert is probably THE heart piece. As in the one in every game that everybody hates getting.

Nice advice, it will come in handy. God I hope expert isn't a heart piece... I'll loose my mind trying to get that one! I need to skim the guide to see the prizes, maybe some more info in there as well.

Bullshit. Expert is by far the worst thing about this game thus far. Most of the strategy used in the first to difficulties more of less gets thrown out the window. I absolutely detest things that rely almost entirely on luck.

What completely ruins it is the uncertainty. Not knowing for certain if there are bombs next to spaces is a huge pain in the ass.

I just spent an hour playing expert and got nowhere.

EDIT: I just found out that the reward is just another rare treasure. Screw this I'm not trying anymore.

I just beat the first dungeon. That was harder than expected, though I didn't die (almost did at Ghirahim, however). It's a good game so far, just what I expect out of Zelda, but doesn't seem particularly mind-blowing. Maybe I'll change my mind later though; there's still a lot left yet.

Also, I don't really like the weird boss key-inserting thing. I understand Motion Plus is the focus of this game, but does it really need to be used for everything? Especially something as simple as a door.

I read in the guide that the reward is exactly that, a random treasure so definitely not worth it. The guide says the minigame is actually a waste of money, it makes some good points about the cost for each game being so high with the risk being extremely high.

The best I've really done is on the easy level and I never made that much profit. It's much easier to sell bugs, there's a guy in the academy that buys your bugs out of his room at night time. I made 500 rupees selling most of bugs which was great, I really needed the money for a Divine Shield.
