Apparently there are a lot of people who said they aren't even going to give SS the time of day because of that review. The fact that he won't change his score even when he's clearly wrong is upsetting people because it's ruining the scoring on Metacritic, which a lot of people use to make a decision. If the game hits bad sales because of this...a lot of people will be upset, and it might influence the next Zelda.
Somehow I doubt that Skyward Sword will bomb and influence the next Zelda because of one single retard on Gamespot.

Also, attention, morons all over the internet: 7.5 is not a bad score.

In the first dungeon now. Been going a little slowly, haha. Okay, impressions so far:

-It still has that classic Zelda feel. Which is good, because I can't explain why, but the trailers didn't leave me thinking it still had that "Zelda" feel. Relieved to see it does.

-Dungeon design seems to be as tricky and involving as always! I've enjoyed the first dungeon a lot so far, and I just beat the midboss.

-The Beetle item is AMAZING.

-Combat is very exciting. I always look forward to encountering enemies.

-I really like how much emphasis the game has put on the use of the shield. In previous games I never really felt the need to use it much, but in this game wise use of the shield can really turn the tide of battle.

-Controls are fantastic. Everything feels so smooth.

Also, one last thing. To all our left-handed people here (not sure if there are any here, but I'll say it just in case), I can say that, as a left-handed person myself, the controls are honestly not as difficult to use as you'd think, or even difficult at all. So if you were worrying about the controls, don't! I was honestly surprised at how easily I could use my right hand for the sword controls.

It seems everyone loves the beetle, but I think it looks pretty boring. What makes it so good?

Uh, Raven, Moose doesn't post here. XD

How long does it take to get to the first dungeon? In TP it took like an hour and a half.

I should've remembered to look over it before just straight-up C/P'ing from my post on the Temple >_>

And it actually takes quite a while, the opening parts are pretty long. Maybe three hours?

As for the Beetle, it's fun because it feels so free-roaming. You can collect high-up stuff, hit switches, and it's good for scouting as well. It can be slightly tricky to control at times, though.

Nice impressions Raven! I'm not as far as you but I've finished with the intro stuff. It's actually good that it's long Slash, there's a lot of cutscenes which really dive into the characters and makes the story possibly the greatest one ever told in a Zelda game.

This game is perfect. Music, controls, graphics, story, items (I have the guide :winky:) is all flawless. I'm so psyched to play more, I'll be going through both modes 100%.

The game's highest point is the controls. This is not the weak motion controls we've gotten used to, there's literally no interference (I can still my hand in between the sensor and it doesn't do a thing) and the motions are precise, it works perfect for Zelda.

Also the bird flying really isn't that bad at all, most people said the flying controls suck but I love it. Very easy to do and really makes you feel like your soaring through the clouds. I'll post some more thoughts after I do some dungeon conquering. :everyman:

I'm enjoying the hell out of this game.

Though the sword thrust is really clunky to pull off, making spiders hard to kill. Otherwise the motion controls are actually pretty solid, unlike Wii Sports Resort. A very pleasant surprise.
