In love with a prisoner

I think why they pulled back in season 8 was because they were making another Nikki out of Pat and they didn't really know where to go with her. They wanted her to be a tough softy but they had alredy done that with Yvonne and Nikki.

I think they were starting to get the same charachters and after they realized that they needed to think on what to do.

I must say that with just another season Pat really could have been someone that everybody loved to watch. She really had potential to be a huge favorite but they just did not develop her enough. She had so many internal scars that it would have been good to really get to know her.

I brought this over from the Season 4 thread. I think you're right that Pat is in the same vein as Nikki and Yvonne, namely a relatively ethical prisoner who has a lot of power and is concerned about the experiences of the people around her. But Pat had a few things that I thought made her wonderfully different from Yvonne and Nikki.
1. She didn't care about other people in general, or about getting close to any of them. She just could not stand watching anyone be abused or bullied. But it didn't go further than that, to a kind of nurturing, the way it did with Yvonne and Nikki.
2. She wasn't interested in getting out of prison. She figured she was going to be there a long time, and she never seemed particularly angry or upset about that. I never once watched her do something in an effort to get out sooner.

These two differences combined to create a really fascinating mix, with Pat's deep-seated intimacy issues, her lack of interest in romance or love, and the challenges she faced with Sheena, all of which were really different than Yvonne or Nikki. I just wish that Sheena had stayed on the show, or that they had given her a new love interest, because without it, she was just one-note: revenge-against-Natalie, and nothing more.

See that is one thing I loved about Pat. She knew she was there for a while and she knew that for it to be easy on her it needed to be easier on the people arround her. She didn't want to be top dog but if she was going to be top dog it was so the pound ran smoothly and that none of the bigger dogs were picking on the smaller dogs.

It was almost as if she was trying to run her own little prison better the then the prision guards. she knew what heads to chop off. I think if Natalie had not been a nonce then she would have glady let her go just to get her out of her hair, but she could not sit back and let someone like her back on the streets.

She just wanted a relaxed environment even if that meant she had to be tough to do it.
Nicki (Xenaclark)

Helen – “Don’t make this any harder for me!”
Nikki – “Yeah must be hard getting angry with someone you’ve snogged.”
Helen – “Oh please Nikki, be serious!”
Nikki – “I want to make love to you all night long…is that serious enough?”

I still want to know how Pat managed to afford those NewRock boots. They're bloody expensive!

In other news.. I love Liz May Brice. I have written to her twice, once with a drawing, and she responded to both!

Those boots are awesome. Maybe she inherited a lot of money when she killed her fella

Don't know if this was mentioned elsewhere, but LMB was in the first episode of The Hustle, a lite UK show about grifters. She plays a cop & has a fair amount of screentime.

Ah, I love this thread already.

I got into Bad Girls backwards. Series 8 was the first I really bothered with (I was around... 18 I think... IDK my maths is pants) except the two Tanya Turner (Footballer's Wives) episodes.

Pat instantly won me over with her snark towards Natalie. Since watching series 1-8 all over again I can see what people mean about Pat being a bit like Yvonne and Nikki but it's just made me love her more.

I loved Pat Kerrigan - when I read about her joining the series I remember excitedly awaiting 7.6....and wasn't disappointed at all.

She really is a combo of Yvonne and Nikki (perhaps more of a Nikki than Yvonne - especially the tendency to slip into Kevin The Teenager mode!) but has her own personality with it.

I liked how from the start she tended to bond with the Julies - I just wish they had a better storyline (and more) together than the ridiculous body-carting one.

Was never that taken with the Sheena storyline - especially with the black-hole syndrome between 7-8.

The only real gripe about Pat is nothing to do with LMB - it's the stupid producers of S8 who decided to give her a more feminine makeover in S8 (in fact, half the cast were subject to this - WHY?). She looked better in S7, grittier and harder whilst still amazingly sexy.
