You mind if I ask a question in this thread since some of you have mentioned these shows. I went through Amazon.co.uk to pick up some new things for me but wasn't sure if they were worthy of a purchase.

Note: I have never seen or heard of ANY of these before.

Any thoughts on the following?

Crime Traveller
Ultraviolet (series)
The Champions
Allo Allo
Star Cops
The Dinnerladies
Hustle
Regenesis
Waterloo Road

BTW, in my list of faves I forgot to add "24" and Odyssey 5.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Tasha Yar,
I watched ULTRAVIOLET several years ago on Aussie TV (ABC). It's a British Mini Series that deals with the supernatural (contemporary vampires) I thought it was excellent. If you like Sci - Fi, you should like this show. Theres a review of it on imdb.com.

Thanks Aquarius68. I had looked there as well as Amazon, but know that sometimes imdb can be seeded.

I will add Ultraviolet to my next purchase. Just ordered Bad Girls S5-6, My Family, Tipping the Velvet and some others, so I better give my wallet a break. LOL

Keep the suggetions coming as I am tired of being in a rut!

Thanks!

I've only just come across this thread and I read the posts with great interest. As a Brit, I find that I'm paying my licence fee for the small amount of quality programmes and an awful amount of sheer garbage and I tend to feel more and more closed off. It isn't the easiest for something to get through to me and I'm incredibly glad that Bad Girls got through to me from the word go.

Judge John Deed- this is a brilliant 4-6 part legal drama, politically acute and with characters with as much depth as Bad Girls, the first series being out on DVD (sorry for the blatent commercial plug)
The X files- this was a subtly written, haunting and strikingly original series
Absolutely Fabulous
I, Claudius
Holby City
Life on Mars (A police series where the modern protagonist is ‘transported’ back to the 1970’s)
The Blackadder Series
Waking the Dead
The Young Ones
Cracker

Hi, I don't know if anyone has seen this show. I just happen to catch the last 20 minutes of "America's next top model" on wed night and I have to say I've never seen anything more unappealing in my life! In one segment the girls (ages bet 18 and 22) were literally bamboozled into posing without a stich for a photo session, only one girl became uneasy and refused to undress. I wonder if their parents watching it were surprised or even shocked. And Tyra'I'm the producer,me'Banks was conveniently absent in this segment.

I actually love America's Next Top Model. It's hard to appreciate it if you just see 20 minutes of an episode, but as a series, it's terrific television, definitely my favorite reality competition show. First of all, it focuses on women. Second of all, the women are really gorgeous. Third of all, winning actually takes some real skill and talent (that's what's hard to see if you only watch a few minutes of the show--but if you watch many episodes, you can see what goes into being a great model). And in the end, it winds up being all about women's relationships with eachother, unlike on most other tv programs where men (either fictional or real) dominate.

They're definitely not the best. I'd recommend Open All Hours - one of the funniest things I've seen!

And if you want comedy, watch Peter Kay: Live At The Bolton Albert Halls.

Hi Abzug, Okay, I'll grant you 20 minutes isn't sufficient to decide how the show (ANTM) is going. I agree with all your points except the 2nd one about all of them being gorgeous, I thought none of them had the looks or the figure and weren't they already quite old to become top models? I thought nowadays the talent agents are on the lookout for girls around 15? And about men dominating other shows, I don't quite follow, the 2 guys sitting beside Tyra? also the photographers were male if recall?

By the by, who has seen "Hotel Babylon"? I saw the 1st 2 episodes and I really enjoyed them. BBCC for a change is showing something other than it's usual fare of hospital and crime dramas. That cute guy from "Bodies" Max Beasley is in it with Tamzin can't recall her last name, very impressive, looks stunning in her skirt suits and high heels. The rest of the cast is also quite interesting, so I know I'll be tuning in next friday :)
