In love with a prisoner

Hi Allie, I'm afraid we crapped out again on the snow-thang, totally my bad! BBC had some nice photos from around the US & Canada here tho... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7286483.stm --and I am SO glad I don't have to shovel any of that mess I don't even feel guilty. Though the kids in their temporary igloo was kind of appealing. In a theoretical kinda way. I am however really, really befuddled by the whole daylight savings time thing. In addition to being about a month too soon, now I gotta rethink the time difference for friends I email in the UK--cause now it's 4 hours rather than 5. Then it'll go back, I suppose, in the fall. Too much for my poor head. |

Yikes ... Atlanta got hit with a tornado tonight (or at least something pretty damn close to it)! I don't live in the city so I only got a lot of rain and hail. but downtown looks pretty beat up. |

Saw the damage on the news about Atlanta. A few years back Houston had a tornado right downtown and it blew out windows in a few skyscrapers but nothing like Atlanta. I would hope this is not going to be a common theme due to global warming but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. We have had absolutely no winter in Houston and yesterday it was 85 F degrees, a record for this time of year. I am so not looking forward to the long HOT summer here or the extremely high electric bills. I know that those of you who have had an extreme winter are looking for the warmth. |

I was about to post on my thoughts for the weather tomorrow and Tuesday as I'll be getting more than my fair share of fresh air as I'll outside my office on picket duty from about 7 to 10 give or take a bit. I really wouldn't fancy facing the piled up snow and drifts- let alone getting to work in the snow. I am, of course, reflecting past Brit experience that when there is a fall of snow, it always comes as an unexpected event so the provision of gritting lorries, etc goes totally down the pan for the first few days. I won't even say that the weather today is just cold and cloudy- you call that winter, I hear cybervoices call. PS - Thanks, Allie for the guide to fahrenheit and centigrade |

It seems as if you jinxed our weather down south ('ere in Jo'burg at least) with all this talk of snow! We've had rain on end and the temperatures dropped to between 9 and 14 degrees C - and it's supposed to be summer!!! |

It's true, I am responsible for all bad things, weatherwise... but in the future I promise I'll try to use my powers only for good, okay? That whole thing in Atlanta--I just had a rough weekend, my fault, things got away from me.... (It's the first day of spring here, so... joke's on me, really. ) --e

This is totally wierd. Weather predictions are for sleet or snow on top of cold and strong winds- it was springlike weather for quite a period of time in February. Must be climate change screwing things up. |

High today (again) of 85F. Yesterday I got the slightest burn on my face working in the yard. I like it like this.

In my part of the world, I've always considered the "essence" of skunk in the air as a sure sign of spring. Based on that criteria, today is the first day of spring. And the good news is, it's all over the building I work in, so I can enjoy it all day!!! Still, the sun is shining and it's above freezing. |
