No essence of skunk here, but I know what you mean...I think. lol

A glorious spring like day here today, went for a long walk by the river with a tee shirt on! I heard one of the first sounds of spring in my part of the world. Little frogs! My (wonderful, late) grandma always called them spring "peepers". I could hear them over my mp3 player. They were more than music to my ears. It was a wonderful walk in the woods.

I have a feeling that I'd been complaining about the cold and rain in winter time. The trouble is that after a wobbly and uncertain spring- including a spell of real spring like weather in February- we're now getting the start of hot and humid weather which climate change has brought on this side of the pond.

This is the time of the year when the windows at work get opened and fans switched on. My office has two floors with air conditioning and two without- don't ask why that is so or even look for any rhyme or reason in that one. Last year, of course we had endless rain.

My favourite times of the year are spring and autumn.

Ok now, this is ridiculous. You JUST posted this, and it's 83 in Houston right now according to Google, and 84 where I am in central NY.

W. T. F.?!

Is this screwed up or what.

(My sympathies! :eek )

yeah its been horribly humid here in atlanta (like that's a big surprise) - what i'm looking forward to next week is i'm going to be in tacoma wa for an interview and it's only about 58-60 there! i'm actually looking forward to it - though coming back will be that much worse! and i realized in the last couple of days - it's time for me to get the hair chopped - i cannot stand it longish in this heat (its just too thick)!
There's nothing wrong with you that a little Prozac and a polo mallet can't cure.

The midwest has been hammered by storms for the past 3 days. In southestern Wisconsin, where I am, we have received anywhere from 7-10 inches of rain in that time. To put that in perspective, 7-10 inches of rain is the roughly the equivalent of 70-100 inches of snow. Last winter we had the second snowiest of all winters with just under 100 inches for the season. That makes the rain we received over the weekend to be the same amount of precipitation that we had in our near record breaking winter of '07-'08. :eek

Oh, btw, we also lost a lake. A 267 acre lake that used to have 600 million gallons of water. If you haven't had a chance to see it, here is a link.

speaking of flying away - we just had a gust of wind here that actually picked up our gazebo and moved it about a foot - while my daughter was in it!!!

luckily no injuries

we have actually set a record in the Toronto area for the most rain of any summer on record

and thunderstorms that seem to come out of nowhere

any of you in the states getting this type of weather too?

too bad we can't send some of this rain to you guys in california

Gah! That's too much wind for me! :) Glad you daughter was safe....

Dunno abt records but we've had, I think, over 10" of rain since June alone, which already double normal. 5 1/2" of it... this month. To date. :eek

Yes! We had a major microburst during a thunderstorm yesterday that in just a moment of hurricane force wind snapped off two trees in my neighbors' yards.

Today's hot and humid, where I am, in the mid 80's. The other day my state got hit by a tornado which made a path of destruction 40 miles long hitting 11 towns. Thankfully not my town, but I was outside working when the rains hit and there was flash flooding in the town I work in. Mother Nature at her finest. I've decided she's having major hot flashes, global warming. :D
