My condolences! ;) Yeah, here too, on & off since Monday. Hasn't amounted to much yet, but it's... unpleasant. I am simply *not* ready to start in with the salt & the shoveling yet. Ugh.

About the snow.

It's not officially even winter yet.

I'm just sayin.

Today, it is 70 with occasional rain or drizzle. What a difference a week makes! Supposed to be 72 and 73 the next two days.

Hee ... sorry ... but I couldn't resist - esp after it was pretty cold the last couple of weeks here!

We're having a snow storm here today. Expecting 22 cm (8 1/2"), but it looks like a blizzard right now, so I think if it keeps up all day there will be more accumulation.

There's also another storm predicted for Sunday morning when they expect 10 cm more... and I'm supposed to be flying to NY....

If you want more, we're getting slammed in the Midwest. One foot already on the ground today with more to come over the weekend.

I just returned from Anaheim and was hoping for some relief from the cold and snow, but it was cool and rainy by their standards. :cry2

Yep, I am in the Midwest (U.S.) also, with the 1 foot snowstorms Huskies Fan is referring too. So... was off from work today because of it. Hope to cozy up with some books, and do some other stuff around the house. Hope to snow shoe and downhill ski later this weekend. We'll see. More is coming.

Note to Molsongrrrl, If you read this, c'mon, don't ya miss this just a little??????? :)

Note to ekny: Good luck with your not-yet-winter winter storms too! :)

Carolynn ... I miss snow on Christmas Day. I would love to at least see a dusting of it on that day. That is the one and only time I miss snow at all. I have yet to get any snow here on Christmas!

My sister is getting hit with snow in Washington (state) too. The kids were scheduled for Christmas break to start on Friday, but they ended up with 3 extra days since they got snow days Wed, Thu and Fri. She kept asking people "This isn't normal is it?!?" She was jealous when I told her it was in the 70s here today again and I'm sitting here in shorts and a t-shirt!

Just wanted to take the opportunity to say Merry Christmas to all the people who are celebrating the holiday.

I'm on hold with Air Canada and hoping to actually get home to NJ at some point on Sunday. My flight has been canceled and from the look of things outside right now, I'd say that's probably going to be the case for most flights - at least the ones scheduled before noon. And I'm assuming here that the snow will stop by morning!

The good news is that there's pretty much a 100% chance of a white Christmas and it's very pretty even when driving in it - despite the tendency for a Ford Focus to go sideways in it if one attempts to turn, even at 10Km/h...

Be safe, everyone. :)

Hope you made it out OK Allie, since it looks like there was pretty dodgy weather at both ends of your trip.

Here's hoping all the holiday travellers make it to their destinations safely.

I'm listening to the wind howling outside at the moment. Though during the afternoon, there was a window when the snow wasn't falling and the wind wasn't blowing.

I at least found comfort in the idea of a white Christmas, but just saw on the news that it's supposed to rain on Wednesday. After all we've been through with shovelling and slippery roads, it just wouldn't seem fair if there was no snow left on the 25th.

Happy holidays all.

Well, I'm still at the airport in Toronto and hoping the next flight will not be canceled due to NY area weather as the last one was. I've been trying to get out of here since 9:00 yesterday morning!!! It's frustrating because the weather here is gorgeous now, but if I don't get out today there's another snow storm arriving tomorrow... First white Christmas since 1971, but I hope I won't be here to see it. :(

Hi Allie, good grief--you've been stuck at the airport for a day & a half? You must be losing your mind! So sorry, that sucks. ;p Did they at least give you guys hotel rooms or anything...?? Man, that really just sucks. Hopefully by the time you see this you'll be airborne... though I can't imagine NJ will be much warmer than here, where it's currently, hm, let's see.... yep. 13º at 6pm. Have a good xmas *with* your family, eh?! :)

cheers,
e

Hi E.,

I was only stuck there for about 7 hours today. Spent most of Saturday night (On hold for more than 4 hours) and a good chunk of Sunday on the phone - they kept on canceling flights just as I was about to leave for the airport!

I'm still in Toronto and now booked on the earliest flight tomorrow. Alarm is set for 4 am and I'm hoping to be out of here before the next snow storm hits in the afternoon. Wish me luck!

I wish you peace this Christmas. 2008 has sucked and I'll be happy to see the back of it. :)
