Careful what you wish for, aj! Yes, the grass is green (and long) but it's a bit wet to put it mildly. North of England looks pretty bad at the moment. Lots of flooding everywhere and a severe weather warning has been issued for the weekend. Not quite as bad up here but I am so glad I no longer live right next to a river. Temp struggling to reach 12ºC at the moment and this is our summer!

Wow... Here it was 38*C again today, even now that it's 11pm it's still 29*C. That doesn't make my bike rides pleasant at all. |

Mad M, where do you live that it's 38C? Here in Southern California this time of year, especially the high desert as we call it, it's always over 38C this time of year. And aj, don't you live close to Toronto? I thought for sure it would be all green around you. I just came back from visiting family in Montana, and talk about trees and green...actually it was the blue skies that got me. Been back in LA (Los Angeles) for two weeks now and I can't even see through the haze and the smog to the mountains close by. Cassandra, I bet it's sunny your way as many days as it's rainy here. Got the AC on now. What a wuss. |

I live in Russia.. And I have absolutely no idea why they call it the coldest country in the world, under these circumstances.

Yeah, I'm just east of Toronto, but we do get the heat (nothing like California and Russia at the moment!). Not totally sure why we're being advised to preserve water, but it sure doesn't take long for the grass to dry up. madmaggot - you have certainly educated me about Russian summers. Do you live in the southern part of Russia? (P.S. Are you watching Wimbledon?) cassandra
Wow, there are so many extremes at the moment. Makes you wonder. I really do hope you Brits get a summer some time soon. |

Yup. Anchormen usually refer to it as the South of the European part of Russia, for some reason. [near the Black Sea]Oh yes, I'm watching Wimbledon! But by the looks of it, I'm going to miss Safin vs Federer because I'm going away for the weekend (to the aforementioned Black Sea). Are you? Do you play? |

Yeah. I was off work for a couple of days and got to see some live coverage, but unfortunately now back to work. I did once play some tennis (local club level stuff), but it's a game you can play all your life - that's what I like about it. Too bad you'll miss the Safin/Federer match though. |

Tennis is a game for all ages indeed. Got any favorites in this tournament?

I've got to think Federer is the one to beat in the men's. Not sure about the ladies though. What about you? Have you played? Lots of Russian women on the circuit now. I have to root for the Canadian Nestor and his partner in the men's doubles. |

Here in S. Florida it's warm but not unbearable, we're in rainy season now, which means it rains nearly every afternoon, but not for very long. We pray for a quiet hurricane season ... but that's the price we pay to live in a beautiful place with blue water and great beaches and terrific nightlife!
