Although it would be very much like wire in the blood I’d love for her to play a walk on in CSI: Crime scene investigation, the original series cast. Also she would be great in another serious drama, like 'Long Haul', that was so insane, was amazing! And as much as it kills me to say this wouldn't mind if she did any celebrity reality TV, not because I like them at all, it would be just great to get a bit more of an insight into her personality (as in more then we can see on the extras of the dvds!) No Big Brother though, I must draw a line there! X |

I know i was the last person to post but i suddenly had another idea for a show i want to see simone in after reading the wire in the blood/movie thread. Torchwood/doctor who?! You can hardly walk through cardiff without seeing one of them being filmed somewhere! I'd be bound to bump into her eventually! |

I would like to see Simone or even Mandana go to the US and work as Consultants for the US Version of Bad Girls which will be shown on the F/X Network. Since this is the role that has made Simone a household name in Europe, Australia and other parts of the world, her insight into the character would be great. |

I don't think U.S. network television is worthy of Simone or Mandana. Maybe back in the day when there were strong, QUALITY female oriented programing like Designing Women, Murphy Brown, Cagney and Lacey, etc... eighties thru early ninties, then followed Rosanne, Grace Under Fire, just a few off the top of my head. At this point and time I would only wish an HBO or possibly a Showtime vehicle for either of our girls. They are heads above the television talent here in the states , this includes actors, writers, etc. When Simone said in an interview her husband may move them to the states for him to work, I was like Noooooooooooooo!!! She's too much an artist to face the crap that's offered here. Don't take away her artistry!!!! |

Yeah, but this is one of the best times for European Actresses to show their stuff. Parminder Nagra, Dame Judi Dench & Helen Mirren have done very well on American Soil. Also, I know that this is irrelevant, wouldn't it be wonderful if BG got an award from GLADD. (The Gay & Lesbian A Defamation Defence) organization, who have given awards to many "straight" celebrities from Christina Aguilera to the US Soap Opera All My Children for having a Gay Character. Simone wouldn't do US TV for long. I don't think she'd put up with their "crap". Also, I heard that Claire King is joining Desperate Housewives as a Half-Sister for Bree, that should be interesting. However, she's going to have to eat some major humble pie because BG, and Emmerdale weren't shown on US and most people don't know who she is. |

Just to clarify, this hasn't actually been confirmed yet. If Claire has been offered a role, she won't be appearing until the next series. |

I understand your point Tamla, however all three women you mentioned were primarily in film and Mirren has been on television here but her vehicles were shown on PBS (Public Broadcasting System) and HBO. Much smaller and more artistic venues here in the states. I also remember reading an interview with Ian McClellan or was it Patrick Stewart(?) saying to experience his art he stays in Britian to make money he goes to the states. I am just very protective of those European craftsmen who actually still appreciate the craft. Believe me, I'm a proud yank, but right now our art world is big business first.

it would be great to see simone in the theatre again(incredibly 5 years have passed since homecoming) although with a young baby simone may be reluctant to spend every night on stage for several months. Some people have mentioned the l word- how about simone in a british version of the show set in london or manchester? the us is always remaking our shows so we could remake one of theirs with a british cast. I dont think that there has been an adult gay drama series since queer as folk in the 90s(sugar rush was kind of teenie) and that was with men not women. Shows like tt velvet did well ratings wise so there is an obviously a market for gay drama- i could easily see channel 4 or bbc2 showing such a show and if it was well written i think it could be a hit. I dont think you could have simone and mandana in it because that would be recreating h/n in another show which i dont think would work (and shed own that relationship!) Any suggestions for who else could be in brit l word( and who could be simones love interest)? i cant see it happening but we can dream- 4 episodes of witb each year is way too little simone for me- we need to see more of simone on our screens! v |

Don't give me reasons to want to go hang outside an award show. I've thought the fans hanging out at the Oscars were crazy for years, but given the extremely limited odds of me ever seeing either Mandana or Simone in person, I'd consider it. I'm glad . . that they finally aired the GLAAD awards, On Demand, so at least I wouldn't have to deal with my usual issues with watching scheduled programming, but I'd rather not have reason to want to go and deal with the hassle of going to LA to be in a fan in that mess. I'd rather fly to London and see her in a play, than deal with the evilness that is celebrity events. Oh heck, even if celebrity events weren't evil, I'd rather fly to London and see a play. That so isn't as easy as it sounds in text. Back On Topic: A Brit L Word . . . there's so much promise the US version of this show has squashed time and again, it would be nice to see someone remake it right. I think if we were sticking with the actual character framework of The L Word, I'd want to see Simone as Bette or Marina (if Marina was going to stick around this time). The Brit version would need to keep true to having one couple that bloody stayed happy in love, too. If Simone was playing Bette, they could go back & start the story, from when Bette was going out with Alice and let us see Bette & Tina fall in love (and stay that way). Bette, would really work for Simone, too, because they could still play up the conflict of being multi-racial. Although, is racial prejudice as big of an issue in the UK? I know I read the interview where Simone said that kids were rotten, when she was younger, because she was different, but I'm guessing it wasn't quite as nasty as in the States? Some kids always will pick on and bully others, they just make up excuses. Definitely, those kids were not just afraid of someone different, but had to be jealous, you know. There probably are greater ethnic divides in the UK over other combinations? |

I would love to see Simone in a "Masterpiece Theatre" segment. Or here's a good idea. She could play Serena McGregor, the ancestor of The Mcgregor Family in the Novels made famous by Nora Roberts, yet she'd be an 19th Century Heroine. I'd also like to see her play Irene in a movie version of 44 Scotland Street or 44 Scotland Yard based on the Novel by Alexander McCall Smith in which she plays this mother who wants her son Bertie to learn Italian and play the Sax at the tender age of five. She would be perfect in an Updated version of Who Has Seen The Wind where she'd play Brian's Mother and have "words" with Miss McDonald who embarassed her boy in front of the class. |

I could see her playing Maggie Smith's role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969); Rosalind Russell's role in The Trouble with Angels (1966). She'd also be great in Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour (1961), and playing Deborah Kerr's role in The Night of the Iguana (1964), and Jean Simmon's role in Elmer Gantry (1960). She has an Ingrid Bergman, Maureen O'Hara, Ann-Margret type quality. Here are a few others she would've been great in: Body Heat Double Indemnity For Whom the Bell Tolls Bull Durham Two for the Road What's New Pussycat The Lion in Winter From Here To Eternity Blue Velvet Casablanca The Piano The Last Picture Show A Place in the Sun Cheers, Route66 ----------- The Lion in Winter (1968) "I even made poor Louis take me on Crusade. How's that for blasphemy. I dressed my maids as Amazons and rode bare-breasted halfway to Damascus. Louis had a seizure and I damn near died of windburn...but the troops were dazzled." -- Eleanor |

What about a one time role on the Simpsons? She could do the voice of Groundskeeper Willie’s sexy cousin who has come to the States for a visit. Has she ever done comedy? She appears to have a great sense of humor! I have read she likes the show. |

I personally would rather see both Simone and Mandana in roles they've never previously portrayed. I like seeing how far the range of an actress or actor really is. However....... If this movie was ever remade or made as an English speaking version, I would like to see Simone in the role of Severine in Belle de Jour. The only thing is...portraying the same role as Catherine Deneuve... that's some big shoes to fill. Another possibly (again if remade or made as an English speaking version) would be as Camille in Un Coeur en Hiver, translated as A Heart in Winter. (I think Mandana Jones could also portray the same role). |
