I am hoping to transfer directly to a university in either England or France....more hoping to finish school in England..

Right now, I am looking at Middlesex University.

Is there anyone who is familiar with this college and who can offer any advice/feedback regarding it ?

Thank you !

hi
im a student studying at uni in london and know a bit about the various unis here. To be perfectly honest from an academic point of view middlesex isnt particularly prestigious and is not exactly high in uni ratings. However it does offer a wide range of courses -mainly vocational courses, although it does do some more traditional subjects. Obviously it depends on your own academic ability but the likes of ucl/kcl/imperial/LSE would be better choices as it is important from a career point of view to get in to the best uni you possibly can. The top uk companies pick from the top unis. However you must do what you want to do and if there is a course there that u want to do then go for it. Having known people at middlesex and having been there myself(as a visitor, not student), i should say that the area is pretty dull with only a few pubs/shops in the vicinity and it is quite a long way on the tube for a night out or shopping in central london. One plus though is that accomodation/rent is cheaper in the area than central london. Visit the uni yourself, look at the unis website(most have message boards where you can interact/ask questions), look at guides to unis- this is what id suggest
hope this helps a little

Thank you so much, Vergil ! I will take your advice into consideration as I continue to browse over my Top University Selections.

Currently, my academic marks put me at a GPA (Grade Point Average, in American terms) of 3.83, however this has not been weighted--as I am currently taking higher level courses where I attend school. I anticipate a higher final GPA.

It's complicated to explain...

My dream school would be the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts...

What about Kings College/RADA ?

Can anyone tell me about that college ?

I fear I will be unable to visit these campuses any time soon....at least until this summer

I am from the USA...and I actually applied to go to Middlesex University for my undergraduate degree a couple of years ago and I was accepted. I was impressed with their Psychology program after a meeting with the faculty and I also was impressed with their Massage program. I ended up not going because of the costs for me to go. I could get Stafford Loans in the USA to pay for it and the exchange rates were not that bad at the time...but all the other costs associated...trains ect. I could not do it as I would have been living in the Hertfordshire area with my GF.

The other University I applied to was The University of Hertfordshire. I applied for their grad school program in Psychology/Counseling. The U of H is actually the in the Top 10 in Universities in the World, (I know for psychology anyway), and I applied there and the University of Minnesota. I was accepted at both but had to decline the U of H because this time it was because of the exchange rates. After the war started, the cost to attend England University as a foreign student was out of this world. I would have run out of money from Stafford and didn't want to take out a lot of personal loans.

If you have any more questions or need any advice, send me a PM and I can give you all the information I have.

hi
I walk past Rada each day to get to my uni. Rada is located very centrally, so has quick and easy access to everything in central london. I dont know that much about Rada but obviously it only caters for acting/performing arts and that it is very hard to get into. People come from all over the world to have auditions/interviews and i do know from someone who came for an interview at rada from usa that they sometimes do Rada auditions in america(new york i think) or at least they used to. Although i think this is just an initial audition and that you still have to come to london for a final one. But as i said it is tough to get into and most are rejected. Also bear in mind the cost- even for uk people tuition fees at drama college are very high so it may be even more for non-uk. There are plenty of other good drama collleges in london although, obviously, not with the reputation of Rada.
KCL is a good uni, in a good location down on the strand by the thames- academically it is of a good standard with a good reputation and you can study most academic subjects there. But again id really recommend you try to visit to get a feel for whether you like it yourself.

I am strongly interested in Theatre and Performing Arts, or teaching it presently..

The best country in the world to learn an efficient amount about such a subject area is England, in my humble opinion.

I looked at the RADA website and they are clear that they hold preliminary auditions in NEW YORK, USA..which is 3000 miles from me at present; however, airfare being what it is right now, I'm not too worried about getting that far...it's getting to London this summer that will be somewhat problematic.

King's College looks absolutely wonderful to me !!

Thank you so much, Vergil and Laura !!

Of course, I plan to visit all of the aforementioned universities before I make my final decision.

I absolutely adore acting/theatre/performing arts and I feel that if I am not successful with it as a career, I would LOVE to teach it to high school-age kids.

Cheers All !!
