Lesli, thanks for posting and additional thanks for keeping them in white font to hide and act as a spoiler. It is appreciated by us.

I've also just edited the title to reflect there might be spoilers in here - just to give prior warning for people. :)

Another article, with many of the same quotes as the previous one:

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ent..._his_blood.html

Part that's in his blood

11/ 7/2007

ROBSON Green admits he's hooked by his long-running portrayal of clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill.

"It's an incredibly high pressure role. The preparation and the amount of dialogue involved are intense. It's a very lonely process sometimes," he says.

"Viewers buy into the character and the way he functions within a damn good yarn.

"The storylines are complex and interesting and I know it's up to me to get it right. But afterwards I like to purge it all by going away fishing."

Wire In The Blood (ITV1, tonight, 9pm) returns for a fifth series, based originally on the books of Stockport crime writer Val McDermid and made by Coastal Productions, the company co-founded by Robson.

A sixth series has already been given the go ahead, along with a feature-length special just filmed in Texas for screening on both ITV1 and BBC America.

Robson, father to seven-year-old son Taylor, has defended the first story in the new series, which involves the apparent abduction of a child from a housing estate as the real life hunt continues for four-year-old Madeleine McCann, who went missing in Portugal.

"It is as far removed from anything going on abroad or here. I don't want to comment on what the McCann parents are suffering. It's every parent's nightmare," he says.

Co-star Simone Lahbib, who plays Det Insp Alex Fielding, says: "When I watched the news about Madeleine, the reporter was talking about the differences with the police in the UK, where we use the American system of issuing an amber alert to get information.

"Our first story is all about the amber alert in child abduction and how those first hours are so important in how the police proceed.

"It's a very powerful and poignant storyline."

Made in and around Newcastle, the four new films again see Tony and Alex on the trail of horrific and callous serial killers in a drama not for the faint-hearted. "It all started with me and executive producer Sandra Jobling sitting in the offices of our small, independent company in the north east with an A4 piece of paper," recalls Robson.

Critical acclaim

"I think it's great to have arrived at series five. We've won awards and critical acclaim and it's now shown in 33 countries."

He adds: "We have an episode where the case appears to involve witchcraft and voodoo. Tony reminds everyone that there is no such thing as magic - it's just people working through subliminal suggestion.

"But everyone in the unit, including Alex, succumbs to the notion of voodoo.

"If the suggestion is powerful enough, it can affect your behaviour. It's a fascinating subject and it's creepy but Tony believes there is no such thing as evil."

Tony faces a different challenge when he babysits for Alex's son Ben. "Tony is very nervous but he realises he is able to connect to a child and talk to him in a way he has never communicated with people before.

"They make popcorn together and the childlike quality in Tony comes out. It's the most relaxed we've ever seen him.

"Simone and I are relaxed together and I think it shows on screen. She's also a great audience for me. She laughs at all my jokes. If I was a stand-up comic, I'd love to have Simone in the audience."

Former Bad Girls and Monarch of the Glen star Simone says: "Robson can carry a show and he is a great leading man. When we are shooting such heavy subject matter, with Robson there you don't feel you are taking it home with you.

"He gets the balance right - and I love his sense of humour."

And the Texas story? "Tony is asked to go and be an expert witness in the prosecution of a man who has murdered his wife and children," explains Robson. "He's someone Tony once gave an opinion on in Bradfield. But as events unfold, we discover some people don't want Tony there.

"Patrick Harbinson has written a superb script, but there are little incidents like Tony getting into his car and finding a rattlesnake.

"They rang me up and said, `How are you with rattlesnakes?' I said they'd better ask Crispin Layfield, who's stunt-doubled everything I've done for the past 12 years, because I'm not sitting next to one!"

One of Robson's forthcoming projects will find him on the other side of the camera. "We're hoping to get a commission for Place Of Execution, another Val McDermid novel. This time I'll be co-executive producer, which is something I've always wanted to do with Coastal."

No problem. I know not everyone wants to know what's going to happen. I only skimmed the words myself, in hope of forgetting it all! abzug, thanks for that!

Out of Dorm
i don't know why i bother watching these things. i feel some sort of low level annoyance with SL to begin with, so i'm not exactly watching for her, and then they do a nice retread of an old reliable theme in tv murder mysteries. i blame it on the keenest need to be doing anything except the work i *should* be doing. but seriously, <hidden>munchausen's syndrome by proxy? the mother did it? wtf? like we need yet another story about hysterical selfish mothers? whatever. </hidden>

i admit that i didn't expect that ending, and didn't guess what was happening, so i suppose it did the suspence thing well enough. but i still consider that to be lame in the extreme. to be clear, it's the story i have a problem with, not the acting, which i don't object to in any way.
