In love with a prisoner

My pleasure. I really wanted to use Ransom font, but... had to make do with the materials at hand.
Of course, right... --the escalation from 1.5-7 makes it hard to keep track. Lesbians are so good at Escalating, are they not? |

Escalating Nikki right up to Enhanced by Helen for ass glance #2 in S1e7. The wing gov comes to up check on her pet who as Nikki purveys her new domain from G3 landing....talk talk talk, no really this is serious, ok golly gee thanks...the gov walks on down the landing, the Wade turns her head and follows with a long look at the goods as the gov moves away....gee, in my mind's eye the lear and the drool are palpable.

nobody's mentioned the time of their first kiss. is it the next episode when helen tells sean a modified version of the kiss saying "i think she thinks she's in love with me" helen, at least, must be thinking in those terms. |

We've discussed this line somewhere along the way, maybe in another thread. I think Helen just needed to say these words out loud, to anyone, because she was having difficulty believing them. Well, not believing them, but coping with them. She knows pretty well how Nikki feels about her, and that she reciprocates some of those feelings. Around this time in the series, I always think that whenever Helen talks about or is around Nikki, she's trying to reason with her own feelings more than Nikki's. |

I think the issue with Sean is a touchy one. In S2ep1 Helen states that she knew it was not going to work from the moment he moved in. In fact when Sean states that they are engaged I don't believe I remember Helen actually saying yes or no. I think its an implied yes. I think at the end when she actually told Sean what Nikki did, or actually didn't do. I think she wanted to know what his reaction is. Is his reaction more about how she grabbed him or the fact that Nikki is in love with Helen. I think she was testing the waters to see what he was feeling about the whole thing. I'm sorry but if there is an inmate in love with my fiance I would be asking that she get shipped as far away as possible. I have watched Bad Girls season one and two a lot over the past few months and can not pin point where things change. It is so subtle that it is easy to imagine things, but there is a lot we don't see. I think in season one there is a lot of known feelings, but none of them are love. In S2ep1 when Helen is on the roof I believe Nikki is in love because she says the words, but Helen's time does not come to realization till S2ep2 when she let her emotions cloud her judgement, but still if I was in love with someone I don't know how I could so easily walk away. Just my ramblings. |

Nicki (Xenaclark) Helen – “Don’t make this any harder for me!” Nikki – “Yeah must be hard getting angry with someone you’ve snogged.” Helen – “Oh please Nikki, be serious!” Nikki – “I want to make love to you all night long…is that serious enough?” | |

I don't believe she realised it until after she had walked away. Her intention at that stage was never to see Nikki again ... otherwise I think her last words would have been somewhat different! Personally I think 'Shit happens!' was meant for herself ... rather than Nikki. However, Helen must have very quickly made up her mind that she does want to pursue a relationship as she posted the letter almost immediately (and the postal service outdo themselves in delivering it so quickly!?). My guess is that it is sometime between the delivery of the first letter and her visit that she realised just how strong her feelings for Nikki were. |

True, but I believe that she knows what she wants when she posts that letter. She was already thinking about the future. She was already scheming to get back to be able to help free Nikki that is why she talks her into appealing and then appears the next day. I don't think she would have posted the letter had she not already had a pokers in the fire as they say. |

I agree. What I meant was that she knows that she wants this relationship but I'm not sure if she has actually recognised it as love yet. |

I tend to think Helen knew she loved Nikki when she told Sean the lie about Nikki dragging her into her cell. I think it may have been azbug who made the point that what she was saying to Sean actually was refering to herself—"I think she thinks she's in love with me," should read "I think I'm in love with her." Then in S2e2 when Helen ships Nikki out, you can tell from the expression on her face that she loves her and shipping her out was the hardest thing to do (which is followed by the scene with her caressing Nikki's photo). I think Helen knew she loved Nikki but until she leaves Larkhall didn't want to admit it because of the job and trying to be a professional and the anti-Fenner. Though we don't see what transpires while she's away on sick leave, it's pretty clear she did come to terms with her love for Nikki and made the decision to suppress it or try to anyway. |

Thanks popstalin. Hmm .... I can see where you are coming from and I'm almost convinced .... but some part of me still thinks that as Helen wasn't admitting to her feelings then she hasn't actually recognised it as love. Sounds like it's been discussed already on another thread(s) so I'll shut up and try to find that one ... and then I'll probably have yet another opinion! |

Projection.
Reaction formation. I love you, so I'll ship you out, then I don't have to deal with it. |

OK, OK! You've both convinced me now! Never argue with a psychiatrist (or should that be psychologist?)!!

When I'm referring to admitting it, I mean out loud. I think she's admitted it to herself but until she leaves Larkhall, she won't admit it to Nikki. The closest she comes to telling Nikki at this point is when she says, "Of course you mean something to me." Otherwise it's her little secret she's holding close to the vest. |

Saying it out loud would not only be an admission of the feeling, but also an acknowledgement of that feeling, something that Helen wasn't quite ready for yet. She had to be aware of the feeling, but keeping it to herself was also a safeguard, as long as no one else knew about it (Nikki included) Helen could cope with the feeling. Maybe Helen was hoping that if she ignored the feeling long enough, it would go away. But in the end the feeling was too strong, that is why it clouded her professional judgment - she couldn't make the feeling go away on her own, so she tried to get rid of the source of the feeling, by shipping Nikki out. |
