O.M.G. I didn't know you'd actually posted it to the board! I just found it quite by accident. When I suggested, for my own amusement, awhile back that JAMBF take her trusty digicam, as she did on the walking tour of Oxford Prison, and give us a bus rider's eye view of Nikki's route...I was only joking. Seriously.
Now this...this is genuine cause for concern.
Abzug, dear lord, please tell me that wasn't what you requested. Just a happy accident? |

It was totally a happy accident--that's what made me so excited! It was like Avis knew I was on a Bad Girls pilgrimage. |

I know, she replied solemnly. I can hardly sleep nights for worrying about it. |

I am totally amazed by ekny's erudite study of London busses and the total attention to detail which is, in my opinion, quite normal amongst BG fans. Outside this form of existence, the rest of the world looks very lazy, totally lacking in the spirit of enquiry. It's in the same field as the totally amazing guide to Oxford prison which I'd walked round once without seeing half of what there was. It is interesting to illustrate what is observed as i'd worn a T shirt with "Shit Happens" on the front and only when I was on Oxford railway station afterwards did anoth BG fan spot it and we engaged in animated conversation. I just love the idea of Abzug being able to drive round in 'Helen's car' (oops, the red Peugeot) which is one of those happy accidents of fate. |

Can you even imagine how excited she'd have been if able to pose for a pic in that fabled doorway in which we last saw our girls... |

You know what? That should be the next research project! Where the heck was that exterior shot? I find it hard to believe it was shot in London, although I guess London is very large, but none of the parts I've been in looked ANYTHING like that! |

This is very off-thread topic but I didn't know where else to put it (if someone has a better idea, let me know & I'll move it). My eyebrows just shot up when I saw BG got a mention in this article on... anaphylactic shock induced by... nuts. Would I lie to you? ------------ NEWS RELEASE - 11th May 2006 Nuts about the Da Vinci Code In the Da Vinci Code the dastardly baddie murders another character by spiking his cognac with peanuts causing a fatal allergic reaction (to the peanuts - not the cognac). But author Dan Brown cannot be accused of originality - this is just one of an increasing number of fictional allergy murders. Allergy Show organisers have linked the case to a new syndrome - FAMS or Fictional Allergy Murder Syndrome. Just as the incidence of peanut allergy is increasing dramatically (having trebled in four years according to the Royal College of Physicians), FAMS is on the rise and the death toll mounting. With only one reported case before 2000, there have been five incidents of FAMS in the past five years - all linked to nuts. Surviving an anaphylactic reaction is all about being prepared - here's what the murder victims should have known - and would have if they had attended The Allergy Show, taking place next month at Olympia in London. * Peanut allergy is highly unpredictable - just because past reactions have been mild, it doesn't mean that future ones won't be severe and vice versa (its very unpredictability make peanuts a rather poor choice of murder weapon) * Always carry your medication (Epipen or Anapen, antihistamine, asthma inhaler etc) - the fact that rapid treatment almost always prevents death is another reason why allergies are a bad option for murder * Recognise the warning signs. The fact that the symptoms are straightforward to recognise again makes this a stupid choice for murder. Symptoms include some or all of the following: generalised flushing of the skin, nettle rash (hives) anywhere on the body, sense of impending doom, swelling of throat and mouth, difficulty in swallowing or speaking, alterations in heart rate, severe asthma, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, sudden feeling of weakness (drop in blood pressure), collapse and unconsciousness. * Always check the ingredients list * Always ask what's in something if you can't see an ingredients list * Never drink cognac with dodgy villains in the third act of schlock thrillers David Reading, Director of The Anaphylaxis Campaign will be giving two seminars at The Allergy Show on peanut and other severe allergies. Allergy Show Director Jonathan Shaw comments “The appearance of fictional allergy murders reflects the massive increase in severe allergies. The good thing is that it's helping increase awareness of the problem, the bad news is that it's in questionable taste - especially for relatives of real nut allergy victims, may encourage playground pranks, and as fiction, it's clichéd and not very credible.” Note to Editors In the Da Vinci Code (published 2003) a character (Remy) is murdered after nuts are added to his Cognac. In Monster in Law (2005) starring Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez, the Fonda character laces a gravy boat with nuts after she finds out the Lopez character has an allergy. In The PMS Murder by Laura Levine to be published in June 2006 a character is murdered with nut oil in the guacamole. In an episode of ITV's Bad Girls (June 2000), nuts are put into the pepper pot killing a character - Renee. Name Games by Michael Crafts published in 2000 has a nut allergy murder. In Chile Death by Susan Wittig Albert- published in 1998 - a judge in the local chilli cooking competition is murdered when nuts are added to one of the entries. (No, I'm NOT done yet! Yessss, I'm coming to bed soon...! You'll get your kibble in a min-ute, I'm busy with imPORtant things, sheesh....) 'hem. What? WHAT?? This is a legitimate post, dammit. Yo, we're totally on track here--they're stunt laundry machines. No--really. (laundrymachines.co.uk) Well, I think it's kind of sweet, look how chuffed they are! Ok, so maybe they didn't know what was in Pat's bag. I don't think "big enough to stuff a human body into" is normally a selling-point, unless you're selling to the Kray Brothers.) |
