Well the number is going to be even longer after you've added your international dialling code Jersey1259! Numbers with the 0844 prefix are Premium Rate numbers, which means that they cost up to 5p per minute from a UK landline, so no doubt they'd cost a great deal more when dialled from the US. I suspect they probably include a long-winded automated message and instructions to string out the time a bit too, before you'd even get to have your say, so I would suggest that you rather send an email. (No need to put more money in their pockets if they can't be bothered to give us what we want to see!) Of course you will probably just get a stock reply thanking you for your interest and telling you that your concerns have been noted etc etc, but hopefully it might help to send a message that a lot of people aren't happy with their decision to drop the show. |

This article is from The Journal. http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-ne...61634-22890958/ Makers of Wire in the Blood look to Ofcom as show is axed Feb 10 2009. by Katy Simpson, The Journal ROBSON Green’s production company has called for an investigation into ITV’s decision to axe Wire in the Blood.Newcastle-based Coastal Productions has been told by ITV that it will not commission another series of the popular police drama. The shock announcement has sparked outrage from fans, filming experts and local MPs, who are all worried that the North East is losing its voice on TV.Now Sandra Jobling, who runs Coastal with Wire star Robson Green, has called for watchdog Ofcom to investigate. She said: “Wire is a huge success story and this is a huge blow for the region.“Wire had up to 6.66million viewers per episode and an audience share of 27%. I just think that somehow they need to be brought to book. I feel Ofcom should look at this.“It would have been much easier for us to move south, but we didn’t.”Just last month, ITV was fined £220,000 by Ofcom for failing to meet its programme spending quota outside London for 2006 and 2007.Rules imposed by the regulatory body insist that at least 50% of expenditure in each calendar year is spent outside the M25 area. But in 2006, ITV only spent 45.6% of its budget regionally and in 2007 it was just 44.3%.Ofcom says it can only regulate what percentage is produced outside London. It does not allocate percentages for each region. Sandra’s concerns have been echoed by Tom Harvey, chief executive of Northern Film and Media, who has backed calls for an investigation. Before Wire was axed, he had already invited MPs and TV production crews to a meeting at Newcastle’s Live Theatre on February 16.A spokesman for Northern Film and Media said: “It’s quite a concern that none of the broadcast channels seem to be doing any filming in the North East. On an individual basis people can see the benefits of filming here, however it is management and budget constraints which seem to be the problem.“As a regional screen agency we are very concerned about the lack of broadcast TV in the North East and the affects this is having. We are doing all we can to work on that and we are following other leads.” |

Here is my letter to ITV read it in good health one and all. Bye for now. To Whom This May Concern: Life is so amazing you just never know when a travesty will happen. There are no words other than tragic, unfair, stupid, wrong and totally tasteless to ax Wire In The Blood. It is not just a great television drama, with a splendid cast, and well written, but it actually gave its viewers something substantial to watch. Kind of Fillet Mignon versus Hamburger. After an episode of Wire In The Blood the audience is left with a feelling of being fully satiated like after eating a good meal, and with a pleasant after taste which makes the audience look forward to the next installation. As a very disgusted and disenchanted American who started watching more British programing for better quality entertainment, this has literally knocked me out like a sucker punch. I only hope that British television is not becoming infected by the American Bug, because there is no cure. There are those of us who are totally offended by crap on television, and believe me American television has more than its share, that is why I hoped that I could see more quality programs like Wire In The Blood, but I guess not due to your erroneous decision to ax it I have to watch the usual crap. And how down right cruel to ax a show on the eve of the birthday of one of its brilliant and beautiful and gifted stars, I of course am referring to Simone Lahbib. I guess there is no honor in show business, I guess Hollywood is Hollywood even in The UK. I have always thought that advertisers want to sell their product on networks which programs that bring in large and loyal audiences insothat they can make the most money from these audiences. For the life of me I cannot understand how a program that draws nearly 7 million views per episode is canceled. That is a phenomenal number, where are your brains are they in your head??? Since I have never known it to effective to say I am just devastated by this rotten decision, and to plead, for an appeal to reconsider. Additionally, to beg for your compassion to reconsider, by giving a laundry list of reason why a network should keep a program on the air. However, what I think may be a eyeopener to you is that if you do not reconsider and recommission Wire In The Blood, then we as loyal followers will have to take action by writing to all your advertisers and letting them decide if they want to throw away their money on a network that it completely daft and irresponsible. I will be sending this letter to Coastal Productions, and SimoneLahbib.net just to keep everyone on the same page. As we yanks here in The US say the ball is in your court ----- don't drop it. Very truly yours, Cheryl Ann V. Leto, Loyal follower in Burbank, California, USA 01. 818.748.8752 |
