Or, you can just rely on the very intelligent folks in this thread to alert you to such themes, and save an extra 20 minutes each day. :-) So, thanks guys! No, seriously, I do appreciate knowing that the show is developing all of these echoes in the other stories, because it kind of puts the Otalia story front and center, like the hub of the wheel, to which all the other story spokes connect.
No further than I am on the sickness scale, in that I became extremely sad when I found out she was moving back to CA (and even sadder when it actually happened) because it was nice to know she and I were in the same city, and indeed worked only about half a mile from each other. So I'm glad someone over on the left coast is appreciating her proximity.
Good point. But as you say, I think Olivia and Frank would have appreciated being brought in for consultation. This is back to the whole relationship with god being the most/only important one for Natalia. She spent a lot of time thinking about god's opinion, and "talking" to him, but she didn't talk to Olivia or Frank. So it's definitely her decision, but let's say she decided to get an abortion (not possible, but just for the sake of argument): if she did this without telling Frank, when he is still part of her life and part of her community, wouldn't we have a problem with that? |

You know I was thinking about the Olivia/Blake exchange because Blake's comeback didn't ring true, "You had a broken heart. I'm glad it's mended." Mended??? when did that happen? Olivia said she had been hurting, but not that she was over it. abzug, your point about the role of gossip to help a friend is right on. Blake is a dead end. She doesn't clue Olivia in and the same with Natalia when she is summoned. The only thing we get out of the Natalia/Blake reunion is that Natalia has a plan and she's looking to tell Olivia before she tells anyone else. LOVED the CC acting/Olivia reaction immediately after Natalia tries to make it all nice with the"You look beautiful" routine. The non verbal head back chin response and just then in that microsecond before she's going to ask 'where did you go" some kid off camera squeals (didn't the AD tell them they weren't on camera and to be quiet?). If you look you can see that CC is starting to form the why word but jerks her head to look in response to the sound and then comes back to her line....so real and true and unplanned...I love stuff like that. Without being too spoily...I'm thinking they re-shot the Olivia/Natalia reunion sequence...changed locations and for sure the dialog then...Different location is the giveaway. What do my sister addicts think after today? |

Yes. <G> Usually. Tho, I admit I have to fast forward thru some scenes. I've been watching the show at 10 a.m. here for several months now, I guess. In the early days I used to wait for the clips to be posted and I just couldn't take that after a certain point. I have been wondering about reshooting too...since it seemed that JL was also wearing a different dress in some of the photos of the first day location JL return scenes that were posted online taken by the "baby dyke papparazzi" as one of our friends referred to them. Why reshoot tho, if that happened? The auto traffic was still very much in visual and audio evidence. I'd like to know if CBS interfered and made them reshoot anything, that's for sure. And did you guys see the CBS promo?! At this late date?! What is UP with that? They want ratings now?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fACdz4UiVxU |

That promo was hysterical! (ek - you can watch it after today I think). I was waiting for an exploding car, or Natalia is flames from an Olivia death-ray. Re-shooting - are we referring to the "other" pictures, the ones with different clothing? I thought those were later in the week of shooting. The first day back pics were all with this truly horrid dress Nat is wearing right now. The only instance of possible re-shooting I've come across is the conversation with Ava. There was a promo still of the two of them talking that is clearly inside while the scene was actually shot outside. I'd be willing to guess, since it was raining so much, they did shoot some stuff inside and then re-did it when it stopped pouring. Cause I have to agree - if they leave in the airplanes, trucks and sirens, why would they re-shoot -- unless I dunno, some Peapackian stripped down and jumped into the duck pond right behind the girls and their touching reunion? |

Some preliminary thoughts: It's hard to get my mind past the fact that when Olivia goes over to Josh's, she's left poor Emma hanging out with Daisy at Company. Doesn't that seem a little off? Or gross? Really weird staging moment in the scene right after the gazebo. Natalia's facing away, and Liv is walking after her. It doesn't make any sense from an emotional perspective. There's no reason Nat would have walked away from the gazebo, let alone continued talking with her back to Olivia while Olivia chased after her. If anything the opposite would have worked much better (which they did near the playground, where Liv walked away and Nat walked after her). I am sure they were just trying to add some movement, but JL wasn't able to make it work, from an acting perspective, so it felt very stagey and false for the first few lines of dialogue. I think CC had a bit of a challenge, to show these "I love you" moments along with the coldness and resistance. She decided to do it as kind of breaks, like being unable to restrain herself for a moment (I'm so glad to see you, I love you) and then pulling back the next moment. I'm trying to imagine what the scene would have played like if she had made it more seamless, shown more of an ongoing battle within herself, so that even when she was saying something positive, the negative emotions and coldness and anger were coming through, and when she was being cold the positive feelings were coming through. JL is being way too stiff. I mean, I sort of feel like she's phoning it in. She hasn't made specific choices about her motivations from beat to beat, so her side of the scenes felt very monotonous. The primary thing I thought was missing on her side was fear. I mean, she's seeing Olivia be cold to her. Isn't she scared she's not going to get what she wants? Isn't it painful to have the love of her life talk to her this way? She should be fucking terrified! And she should be on FSH!Natalia mode, putting all her energy and stubbornnes into convincing Olivia that her plan is the way to go. It's like she hasn't put on her sales hat AT ALL, and that feels unnatural, watching it. In terms of the plot, I like what they're doing. I liked Liv talking about Emma needing stability when really she's talking about herself (and Nat is too clueless to pick this up--has she never heard of projection? Get thee to a therapist, Nat!). I liked the progresison of the scenes, Nat revealing she loves Olivia, wants to spend her life with her. But again, where was Liv's reaction to this? Nat has never said anything like this before! And CC was just stone-faced. I mean, I get being cold, but you have to be cold AND have a reaction. It made me sad that Liv couldn't imagine the four of them as a family, and/or couldn't imagine Frank would go along with it. Get a little pride, sister! |

Page 3 of the SPOILERS thread...same Nat dress, different location....same thread page similar but different scripted dialog = reshoot. I figure it's a rewrite and has nothing to do with corporate. So far I like it. Bottom line is...what you saw yesterday and today...that's what TPTB decided on...that's the show. Spoilers be damned...so relieved Natalia didn't seek out you know who first. will not look at promo will not look at promoETA: see my local pusher cut in line while I was multitasking. will not read comment will not read comment.Much latter folks...out of here. |

I believe that indoor scene was one which was cut--it was where Ava offered to take Emma to SF.
Really? I mean, I guess, from a writing/storyline perspective, sure, but I was so bothered by the staging and acting I couldn't appreciate the other stuff. |

Yeah, she did ok, although I would have liked to see something less emotionally-choppy. But JL was crap. Yeah, I said it. She stunk. And it ruined some of the scenes fo rme. |

Well, I wasn't going to say it first. She's always been lame. On the other hand: her lines were lame. They were Olde Natalia, not new. I'm not sure that's entirely her fault. The only part of CC's delivery I didn't like was the chest-slapping. Also I was irrationally irritated at the boom-mike shadow. |

No, you can't blame the script. She didn't do the preparatory work she needed to do, as an actor, to figure out why the character was saying each line, what she was trying to get from Olivia with each thing she was saying. So that's why each line was flat and uninteresting. That's what I mean about phoning it in. She's done better in many other scenes, even though she's not at CC's level. But today was particularly bad I thought. |
