The boob question though: this might be worth discussing.

Oh is there a question there? I meant skim btw. I can't spell even when I'm not sleep deprived.
Like I said, nanosecond of mamosecond. How short of a time can one 100% lesbian touch a still gay lesbian? I think we just saw it.

Ani is still a door mat and Gina's still a jerk. That's my read vs. boring and possessive. Nothing has changed since epi 1 in this regard. Venice the Series is populated mostly by characters whom I'm not sure what they have to do with main character Gina. Seems like Owen is going to go away. They were fun together. Should have made the show about them. Too many characters when there are only 6 to 8 minutes of story (if that's what this is): assistant Michelle for sass; rooftop bar owner for blue martini glass delivery; hotel owner for boots; woman who is going to Wimbledon with a boy toy; pop to be disappointed with; gf from a town near Zambia dispensing aids vaccines; and two big-eyed girl interests. That's what you're watching. Oh yeah, and don't forget the blue cow.

I'm still watching too. I've found Lara and Ani surprisingly compelling and believable, and Gina/Traci completely not compelling and not believable. Which I blame on Lesli Kay, who seems unable to play a lesbian convincingly. (If you can't have chemistry with the chemistry machine CC, then you aren't going to have chemistry with ANY woman.)

I'm feeling less and less like CC's bitch, though. The botox and other work she's had done on her face is so distracting to me when watching Venice that I get uncomfortable during any scenes she's in.

I'm reserving my approvable in hopes of Season 2 dysfunction, as in "you get used to the yelling" mentioned by Lara. She's bound to do some herself, I hoping. You know, for the drama. I love how RealNadia eats up the screen, or camera as it may be. I'm not a behinds the scenes fan in general for all things media. Saying that, the bts with CC and RealNadia talking at the loading dock was a marvel for how completely RealNadia hogged the camera from CC. Not an easy task. I look forward to some more RealNadia in whatever capacity on the show.

ETA. Just received a VT2 email informing "team" members that access to Season 1 is going to terminate April 12th. So get your requests in for viewing files and clips. I've ordered up mp4s only for my iTouch. It didn't occur to me I wouldn't be able to visit VTS site to see ultra sharp full screen HD versions at my leisure in the future. Should I stick with my mp4s will travel or anti up for MBs galore?

G3 Curtain and Duvet!
Due to popular fury, the first series of Venice will be available until 1 May. Glad I subscribed later in the series so I could watch the final episode unmolested by requests to re-up at PayPal.

Gina makes Olivia *at her worst* seem lovable. And I am willing to say that I think it's CC's fault. All bad script aside, I haven't believed her once when she says she is into, onto, up for, whatever - either with Ani or Tracy. What in god's name are these gals falling for when they fall for Gina? There is no evidence of anything attractive, or even sexy, in how she interacts with either of them.

Tracy, well, I can't indict Leslie Kay on this just cause Tracy/i is possibly the worst written character in the story. I think it is easier to say that she is not playing lesbian enough than to look at how difficult it would be to play that character, lesbian or not. Gina claims to be really into Tracy/i but looks nauseated when in her presence. Tracy/i plays hard to get, then jealous and demanding, and finally weepy and whiny all over a woman who tends to focus her eyes in the middle distance just to the left of Tracy/i's face.

Lara/Ani - is it just me, or is anyone else surprised that they hadn't slept together at the time of E11? Especially for theoretical threesome Lara?

Our Shocking Cliff Hanger: oh dear. Is Gina going to be complicit in whatever it is Daddy was doing? Cause what this show about how the 100% gay women are just like everyone else needs is more psychosexual malfunction.

I'll pencil it into my diary that Series Two might arrive in late June and see if I have enough spare change from the couch cushions. Otherwise, I can get my rapidly waning CC fascination over on DAYS, watching her become the most hated person in Salem.

Agreed, agreed, agreed. Although strangely, when CC and JL were on screen together, I felt that old interest flicker to life again. I don't know if it's because the two of them really do have interesting chemistry, or if there's still some Otalia goodwill buried in me somewhere. Given that I don't watch soaps, and therefore don't watch Days, I have no particular interest in CC any longer. I do think fondly about Guiding Light, and how fun it was while it lasted, but it is seriously Over for me.

That made me laugh --- the ending that is.

Beyond that, I've been constantly confused about time floss and time passage with these episodes and scenes. How mush time passed since the push roll slide whatever at the end of Epi 11 before Gina and London Girl are out sitting in the sand? Like how long does it take to get to the "I think I'm falling in love with you" point? How much time between sand sitting and London Girl's ultimatum "her or me" and "I'm leaving tomorrow morning" ( what? they're not sleeping together one last time?) before Gina contacts Ani to come over to here house because they need to talk about being friends? Long enough for Gina to change her shirt, change her hair and makeup and look like shit. That I know but not much more than that. Honestly, I want to follow this storyline, but I have to be able to find it first.

Oh, now I get the whole video/internet poker thing. It's transference for Gina's emotional state. Before she was winning with the euphoria of new London Girl prospects and now she is losing and plain pissed that Ani doesn't want to be her friend.

Season 1 starts and ends with Gina relationship questions; "what exactly was last night?" to "what are we exactly?" from her two ladies. Not much movement here. Like I said earlier, I'd like to follow the story line, it's just hard to find and follow. At least there's a driving transition shot when Gina fuck/shits off to the Colonel's though I never saw the handcuffs coming. Did anyone else? I laughed out loud when I saw the rewrapped body with hand, arm, and handcuffs.

I'm totally with you on that one. Strung out coherence of storyline goes a long ways.

LOL. I don't think we the audience is "seeing" everything. I mean London Girl did fall for Gina and neither of us can figure why. Who knows? Very little of this thing has made sense to me. Gina and pop are so not going to bury the body in the basement or the back yard. Gina is going to call in some favors and we are going to start seeing some redeeming factors that make up her character. At least that is what KT has hinted at. I'll let you know abzug if anything worth mentioning happens. :silly

Venetian Tendencies

Ha ha, doing my usual short attention span channel surfing what would be the dialog on screen as I trotted through LOGO's encore screening of the Daphne, the biopic of Daphne du Maurier of a couple of years ago? The Elizabeth McGovern - Ellen Doubleday character is calmly rebuking the longing intentions of Daphne assuring Daphne she doesn't want "it" but that "she can go to Venice with anyone she wants." Venice was du Maurier's shorthand for "just happens to be lesbian [sic]."

I'm easily entertained I admit it.

Wow. Right state, wrong town. They've reinvented Gertrude's Oakland.

Who are they pandering to, 13-year-old boys?

So, just to be sure I got this straight: this season's panty-equivalent, or shall we say upping of the ante, will be: CC's nippleage fantasy? Is that about the sum of it, did I get the gist?

You know, I stayed shtum as much of S1 as I could. It was an effort but I did, I bit my tongue til it bled. But really, this is the limit. I don't even read interviews <fist-shake at ss!> or other people's take on it any more. Then I have a weak moment, dip in... and am just allll cranky again. Waste of time. Of course at this point commenting on any of this is more like sticking your foot out in front of the little old lady at the crosswalk. Too easy and darnit--just not nice. But come on. Really: nippleage? Really? Shit, I can just look down my own damn shirt, I want that. I turn on tv or the computer for media, I want story. But then I'm kinky that way.

I can see it now, slow-mo car-wreck style: an entire spring & half the damn summer, listening to people snark & bitch about Nippleage*. Then yet-more bitching: about The Shallow; the Pretty. The Quick and the Dead... the Disllusion, the political venom from disenfranchized dykes thinking this was about them. Pfft. The voyeuristic inability to look away as actors act like actors in public. The blurring of the lines. Yawn. I don't think even the socio-what'sis implications Cagey is so fascinated by can hold my attention any longer. Spectacle requires more of the same. More spectacle, more excess. This is what reality-tv demonstrates all over again. (Reality-tv being of course the porn of television.)

So nothing but the car driving off the road, into the brush, catching on fire, and exploding--while we're left uncertain who survived, what-will-happen-next--is gonna do the trick. In short: if one of these women doesn't actually have an affair with another, there's no news left & nothing to see. Now that's pandering. So get a move on, ladies. God knows there's nothing to watch, storywise.

* Pronounced like fuselage. To the best of my knowledge this term was coined circa Buffy, although it might simply be that was the first time I read it. As I recall it was in connection with a reference to SMG's contract specifically having a no-nippleage clause.

That article admitted everything they fucked up in S1, except the crappy writing. Funny about that.
