Being a latecomer to the BG fan club last year, I pursued the usual course of hunting down any info about the show and N/H via BG annex, this web site, and I’ve just finished reading the 126 pages of fan responses in TWoP. Is there any other show on TV that has elicited such thoughtful analyses of its characters and their relationship? Shed had to have been impressed with these supportive and, I have to repeat, thoughtful discussions. So, then, why has Shed not acknowledged its fans with a N/H reunion show? I don’t need a ten episode season; I just would like to see the now older N and H be in each other’s company longer than two minutes, not governed by jail rules, nor threatened by interruptions (Dominick, Thomas)…you all know the impediments to their Larkhall relationship. If Crystal Chappell could acknowledge her Otalia following by creating the net Venice series, which I subscribed to even though I hadn’t watched the GL series as I wanted to support her for supporting her fans, then it seems to me Shed could do something similar, particularly if it didn’t think it could get a television network’s backing. My suggestion is to offer a reunion show via iTunes, which would make the show available to everyone at the same time (no more having to wait for it to migrate across continents) and would also be financially productive. I’d paid $$ to see them together once more, even if it was only for an hour, if that was what it took. Wouldn’t you? Speaking of iTunes. I purchased the first four BG seasons last year from them. Now seasons one to three (aka the N/H story) are no longer available. What do you suppose is the nefarious reason behind that? |

As nice as it would be to see a N/H reunion, I doubt it would ever happen. And even if it did, could it stand tall, against our high expectations? Plus we also need to remember that 10 yrs have now passed since BG. And, never mind shed, would Simone and Mandana even be interested in stepping back into a character mind frame of so long ago? plus I dare say their priorities are different now (less career minded and more family orientated) That's my view anyway, though it would be nice |

Actors act. Right now Michael Douglas is reprising his 1987 Gordon Gekko role in another Wall Street movie. I just think Shed is missing an opportunity to showcase the most brilliantly developed television relationship, and I give them credit that they could produce a one-time quality revisit of N/H, set even ten years on. |

My memory might be off but I believe both actors have expressed willingness to revisit the characters.... There were interviews on AfterEllen last year, I think? and Simone's tone seemed cautiously willing; she said in one (or was it the video interview...? gah, sorry!) that if the script was good enough, dot dot dot kinda thing. That was the first time I can remember her saying anything specific about whether or not she was willing to go there. However, Shed has always seemed to guard this property very carefully: they've made at least 2 attempts to bring it to an American audience, repackaged, and so long as that's their intent, I doubt they'd do a reprise with the original actors. (I have no interest in seeing anything without Simone & Mandana, myself.) There are multiple threads here on this perennial subject but I don't recall where, at the moment, if someone else can find them & put up links here that'd be cool.

I find myself agreeing with each post as I read it (it's a blessing...and a curse). Maybe if they didn't want to do a reunion show, they could do a retrospective with the principal actors participating on some kind of panel, like they did with Cheers a few years back. (Though, come to think of it, that might be kind of lame...) We may end up being at the mercy of the success or failure of the Americanized version. Its success may cause folks to want to seek out the original...or not. And its failure may make people say that the original was great, we should revisit it...or not. Aaaargh. But, as has been said, it would be nice... |

As much as i would like to see it, i don't think there will ever be a reunion. Nor should there be. Last year (or was it earlier this year?) Nikki&Helen were voted the best lesbian couple ever. Even 10 years after the fact people still love the story of these two. Of all the odds there were against them and they made it in the end. I just don't think Shed could think of a story that would make EVERY fan happy. And now we all get to decide for ourselves how their story continued. Having said that, Simone and Mandana had unbelievible chemistry. I wouldn't mind at all to see them in some other production. Preferibly with a lesbian storyline in it! ![]() ps: ekny, you're right. Mandana mentioned it in an interview with afterellen. Simone might have as well, or she said something about it in the YT interview (10 years after Bad Girls) Jules |

Wow, that's so odd! Ok, thanks for relinking me... I thought--surely we can't be talking about the same video... but we are! Yesterday (at home, old browser, longer to cache) the A/V was off by full seconds. I mean, way, way off. So evidently it depends on the browser & connection, as well!

Great topic here started by Rocky Mountain which has prompted interest and a gathering of much respected posters. My take on the situation is that there were always two schools of thought as to what Bad Girls was which do overlap. The whole Nikki Helen relationship bulked unbelievably large in the first 3 series and Simone was genuinely amazed 10 years on that it still resonates. It was also a medium for their profound commentary on moral integrity and prison justice which slides neatly into the other school of thought which was that of an ensemble vehicle for pushing prison reform (hence the input of Chris Tchaicovsky) in which all characters had input and played off against each other, hence Fenner, Bodybag, Dominic, etc in their different ways contributing to it. Characters that 'escaped' Larkhall tended to fall by the wayside except for say, Crystal and Tina whose escape was temporary. My point is that the Nikki Helen relationship took shape in the propulsion that Larkhall in all its claustrophobia engendered in it and the real problem is in continuing that context outside Larkhall. If my memory serves me right, Shed conceived of Nikki being a prison activist (like Chris Tchaicovsky was) in Series 4 which was not realised- I got this from After Ellen's excellent interview with Shed. This is probably the nature of the problem. You get the feeling from Simone that her caution was in living up to expectations of an N & H reunion show and it very probable that Mandana would feel likewise. On the other hand the roles of Nikki and Helen were once in a lifetime golden gifts as actresses which offered them so much to explore create from Simone's take of their contribution in the 'non verbal' aspects to the roles which gave flesh and bone to these marvellous nuances of expression, thanks to these two very fine actresses. |

Having recently returned from a vacation in Scotland, I've needed a Helen "fix." So, as I've been reading the newspapers saved in my absence, I've had my laptop running Bad Girls episodes, and whenever Helen shows up, I glance over and view the 11th wonder of the world. (I'm still curious why Shed isn't selling the first three seasons of Bad Girls on iTunes anymore.) I appreciate the responses to my September posting on a N/H reunion. Wouldn't it be fine if Eileen Gallagher, who, on paper at least, is due to receive a big chunk of change from Time Warner's buying a controlling interest in Shed Media, takes a stroll down memory lane revisiting N/H fan web sites such as this one, and says to herself, "You know, Eileen, it's time to connect once more with all the individuals who "got" our characters; I need to acknowledge those who so thoughtfully reflected and re-reflected on and who truly appreciated N and H's relationship." And, voila!, on Feb. 14 a valentine is sent. Maybe it's N and H cuddled up on a couch or seated across a table taking ten minutes to reflect on their lives since their "Independence Day." Silences, nuances, body language....it could all be there. That'd do it for me! Eileen, where are you? |

Just seen this thread. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Helen and Nikki special, what has happened to them since Larkhall and that 'I want a woman' moment. Don't think we'll ever see it though
