The first episode of of "Single Handed" Series 4 -- in which Simone plays the role of Gemma Burge -- aired last night on RTÉ1 in Ireland. For those fortunate enough to have access (transmission is subject to geo-blocking outside the Republic of Ireland), the episode is available on RTÉ Player, until Sunday, 28 November, here: http://www.rte.ie/player/#v=1084293 As I understand it, ITV will be showing this series in the UK sometime in 2011, but I haven't seen any dates yet. Did anyone here get to see it last night? If so, please let us know what you think! |

OK - is it wrong of me to want to lick my computer screen when I hear her speak? Her accent is killer.... |

You know, I think there actually was a thread devoted entirely to her accent, at one point.... |

I'm really impressed with this series so far -- interesting stories, good acting (especially by the actor playing Brian's father), amazing scenery. Before the series started, just based on the description of Simone's character, I was worried that Gemma might be on the periphery of the action, but she's right in the thick of it. I'm looking forward to the remaining three episodes. |

G3 Curtain and Duvet!

Oh yeah. Totally. The first two episodes had me worried about this being a very dull turn as The Girlfriend. But now, things promise to get dangerous. Is it just me or does every intake of breath sudden rush to anger and "good" ending with a 't' send anyone else right back to Larkhall? Thanks for bringing the goods CeruleanSeas - it is much appreciated. |

It's not just you, Cagey. If Gemma and Brian hadn't been outside when she started shouting at him, I'd have been waiting for "I said SIT IN THAT CHAIR!" Oddly enough, though, in terms of behaviour, I find it's Jack who reminds me most of Helen Stewart, because he keeps telling Costello he suspects him of all sorts, before he has any evidence, which only gives Costello warning that he needs to cover his tracks and extra time in which to do so. You'd think a Garda sergeant would know better, but then Helen should have, too! |

I managed to see this show this week, but sadly have no way of capturing the video. Nothing earth-shattering happened, but Gemma had a couple of lines that made me wonder if the episode writer was a Bad Girls fan. :-) |

Finally! Sorry for the delay but the episode just now popped up. I'm not sure it even aired as usual this past Sunday because of the financial meltdown news in Ireland but it did air on Thursday night. This strange little show is surprisingly compelling. And, I'm really starting to love Gemma to the point it makes no sense that she ended up with a complete tosser like Brian for 7 years especially given the extreme & very obvious age difference in the two actors. I hope their history is explained (along with some juicy secrets about Gemma) but with this show I'm not holding my breath. Also, Jack has had a different love interest in every Series. I'm hoping Gemma gets to stick around though. She's a good fit for Jack. Oh, and like LateToTheParty mentioned: Iconic N&H Line Alert for the last few minutes. It made me giggle. Enjoy everyone. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WE8EP8Z7 |

Here's my thanks, too, for sharing this series. Two things after viewing #5: 1) RTE1 didn't spend break the budget when it came to costuming for Jack, did it? I guess it's good that Gemma came along to get him out of that boring uniform once in a while 2) Poor Lahbib...she's probably always going to be "doomed" with any role being compared to hers in BG, and events in #5 immediately bring similarities to mind, which I won't comment on as others probably haven't yet seen the show. But they're definitely there for us BG fans to have an "ah ha" moment. |
