I've ventured heavily into three separate fan worlds. First and foremost was Zelda. Silvertris being the prominent artist many years ago. I've got several hundred other random artworks on my harddrive I can't remember who drew them. When it came to fanfics the biggest ones were The Five by Fierce Deity, Love for All Seasons by Candy, and one written I think by an author called bonnie blue. Also The Golden Power by dABisew(sp?). A Push in the Right Direction by Saphirra603. From there I ventured into other fandoms. Next for me was an anime called Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's got the staples of hot chicks, big robots, and epic fights. Add in some of the strongest characterization in any anime, with a unique plot and mythos, they battle lifeforms called Angels, and some of the most disturbing mental breakdowns makes for a memorable watch. No big artwork I can recall. Two of the big ones I read were Neon Exodus Evangelion. Semi-Mary Sue and crossover with dozens of mediums. Children of an Elder God, crossover with Cthulu Mythos. Written by two prolific fanfic crossover veterans. They have a lot of ranma 1/2, never did get into it, crossovers. Even one between ranma and wheel of time.  I haven't touched it yet, but I am very curious.The latest for me Harry Potter. Got into it I'd say a while back and have read quite a few decent stories. It's pretty diverse considering it has one of the biggest archived sections on ff.net. The best fanartist for this would be hito76 over on deviantart. Love how he draws and colors some of the characters. I recommend everyone go check him out, he has other works besides HP. As far as a fics go....Altering Destinies by dobbyelflord. Prince of a Dark Kingdom by Mizumi-sama. A Black Comedy by nonjon. (I really recommend any of his fics, they are some of the funniest I've ever read.) This is actually where I'm currently whetting my writing talents. Revolution's Eve. Most tell me if I change the names it could stand along on its own...it's extreme AU. The only other fandom I've read would be some Wheel of Time and DBZ. Have no good recs for either since its been SO long since I read them. But, one artist for WoT comes to mind. Forbis over on deviantart. He has a some awesome portayals of them. He also does some HP upon closer perusal Well, that's about all of my steam of what I've stumbled across over the past decade and such. Now what about the rest of ya'll? Any good recs in other fandoms? Artists that caught your eye? Or is your interest solely held by Zelda? |

I did the X-Files fandom before Zelda but I was very young and Fox were quite a bunch of idiots sending 'cease and desist' orders to fansites and fan writers. I was only 14 or 15 when I made my site and posted my art and fanfics. I made friends with a few people but then like I say I got scared of getting in trouble so I moved on. I dabbled in Starfox/Mario Bros fandoms as regards to art and fanfiction but the communities were nowhere near as big or as busy as Zelda. |

When I first started out being online regularly, my first fandom was Pokemon, particularly the Pokemon anime. I was a big fan of The X-Files back then, as well, which resulted my writing some veeeeery strange crossover/hybrid fanfictions. As far as Pokemon went, I was bit into Team Rocket, Jessie, James and Meowth. I became fairly well-known in some Team Rocket fandom circles for my writings, but I'd ask that if you see any of my Pokemon work online (some of it is online still, I like to keep stuff up for posterity), that you AVOID it. I have learned *a lot* about writing since then. My old work... so terrible! The fandom that drew me away from Pokemon and the one that kept and held me for a period of more than 7 years is the anime Trigun and its associated manga, Trigun Maximum. The anime was based on the first part of the manga, was a set story that concluded after 26 episodes. The manga went on, toppiing out at being a 10-year serial series in Young King Ours magazine in Japan. The last of the Trigun Maximum manga was translated and relased in English last year. I have the entire collection, plus action figures and other stuff. In other words, I fell HARD for Trigun. Vash is still my favorite fictional character of all time. (Sorry, Link!) Both the anime and manga have a basic story following Vash the Stampede, a gunslinger who wanders a desert planet in far future. The setting is a science-fiction/Western with an ecclectic mix of technologies, weapons (mostly guns, of course, though there is a samurai enemy character) and clothing styles Mostly, it feels like "the old west, on another planet." The people of this planet rely on a mysterious living power source/terraforming source known as the "Plants," who are unvieled as being very important as the storyline goes on. Vash, himself, despite being a gunslinger, is a strict pacifist. He has a very strict personal vow to never take a life. He has a habit of getting involved in people's problems, as well as being on the run from people who are after him for the astronomical bounty on his head (gained from his destruction of a city - the story of which becomes unvieled as the story goes on). In all of this, he has a supernatural ability to dodge bullets (not always fullproof, we do see him get injured) and he is able to shoot weapons out of people's hands, non-fatally injure people if he needs to, and he does his best to solve problems without getting anyone too badly hurt. There is even a scene in one episode where he accidently shoots a couple of men (who were trying to kill him) in a way that left them bleeding too badly. He stops (while injured himself from the firefight, mind you) to treat them. In other words, an idealist and a hopeless martyr - and according a friend of mine I used to roleplay and talk philosophy with, I think just like him. Anyway, the series also features a gun-toting preist, plucky and adveturesome lady insurance agents, and a video-game boss like series of psychopaths out to cause Vash "ultimate pain and suffering," mostly by killing innocent people around Vash - in a big, diabolical game of sorts. Trigun starts out in a comedic tone, but quickly becomes serious and becomes more and more serious and dramatic as the series goes on. The manga is even worse, becoming very b.loody. The anime has something like a PG rating while the manga goes to R, or even M, according to some fans. Oh, so big into this, if you couldn't tell by my enthusiastic descriptions! I feel that some of my best fan-writings are my Trigun stuff. As far as other authors, I recommened Pottachu and Sailor_Lilithchan. Espesially the story-series "Meeting the Man in Red" by Pottachu (for slice of life stuff dealing with Vash's general conflicted heroism)... .and most stuff by Lil... "Plants in the City" is a must-read if you're looking for a good, mature Trigun alternate universe story, though sadly, it is unfinsihed and may remain so if Lil doesn't pull her brain out of the other fandoms she's gotten into of late. Abo does some awesome art for it (she also does some wonderful Zelda art, and other game and comics art). Puchiko 2 has some great art...Dragonaan on Deviant Art is good for all kinds of anime art and has some great pieces featuring Trigun characters. There's always RYKusanagi if you like funny comics/Komas. There's actually quite a few great Trigun artists to be found on Deviant Art if you search. I have a whole sub-gallery on my DA gallery page dedicated to Trigun, but I don't think my work is that great. I still love Trigun a lot, but I'm not much active in the fandom anymore. I kind of got burnt out over stupid fights with people who wanted to exert their own kinds of "control" over the fanwork being done and disscussion had for the series... (Look up the "Law of Fan Jackassery." When I was in the fandom, Trigun hit firmly right within that magical "number of fans" curve that was "not popular enough for the belligerent to be drowned out" but "too popular for all the fans to know and appropriately scold each other should a few fans become belliergent." ) Also, after a while, the fandom just kind of died - this happened after the last of the manga came out. It was like we had nothing to speculate over anymore, though there is an animated movie OVA set to come out soon in Japan. Then, I started getting into Zelda and the rest is history. The Legend has an iron grip on my imagination right now, though I do spare a thought now and again for ol' Trigun. Actually, there is a case for "one of my fandoms leaking into another" here. While many of the Legend of Zelda stories I've written are stand-alone, purely set in Hyrule/the other worlds canon to LoZ with no outside reference, I've *also* done quite a few stories that had a Trigun reference in them. In "The Hero's Heroes" - an early LoZ fic of mine, I had Midna use a verbatim quote by Trigun's Wolfwood. One of my Wind Waker set fics - "The Wind Blows to the Future" ... the title was taken from Trigun's end-credits song.... And, of course, there's "The Great Desert." I wrote that story based upon ideas hashed back and forth between myself and Sailor_Lilithchan (whom I *met* in Trigun fandom). While it is not a crossover, Lil and I very purposely modeled the new era Hyrule of the fanfic after Trigun's "Planet Gunsmoke." You don't *have* to be a Trigun fan to understand the story (just a Zelda fan), but it is probably *more enjoyble* if you do happen to be a Trigun fan as well as a Zelda fan. I mean, find and watch the Trigun anime, then go read or re-read TGD and you'll see how deep the beneath the surface/underlying "other fandom" influence goes with it. |

I'm really into Kingdom Hearts I know its more of a kids game ,but it has a great story line. The game itself has a lot of memerable characters and creative villians. Only the Kingdom Hearts for the Playstation 2 are good the rest on the portible systems are really just radom events meant to keep the storyline going. |

Zelda wasn't actually the first thing that really caught my eye. For the longest time,and even now, I was completely into the history of hockey. I went fairly deep into history and now I've come to a point where I can name the last fifty Stanley Cup champions without hesitation. That isn't so much a 'fandom' really more of an interest. Aside from that, a few other things here and there. I tried to get into Pokemon but, it really didn't do it for me. I then got caught into a series of books by an author named David Clement-Davies. I read his book, The Sight, when I was twelve and then got his first book 'Fire Bringer' about a year later. I read those two books over and over about twenty times apiece. I also had to get his most recent book, 'Fell' when it came out in 2007. I've read that one around ten times now as well. I got into Mario a little bit, but before it really gripped me is when Zelda hit. This may surprise some of you, but it was Wind Waker that got me really interested in the series. When I got my Gamecube, I noticed this Zelda Collector's Edition game had come with it. My sister was the first to try it and on there was a twenty minute demo of Wind Waker. At first I thought 'what a weird game' because of its cartoonish look. But then I tried it. Why? My sister convinced me. I played for a while and found that the twenty minutes went by way too fast. I replayed it about six times before I finally stopped. I wound up buying my sister the full game for her birthday. My interest was still borderline casual at that point, though, because I was so unfamiliar with the series (other than AoL, which my aunt had and the only reason I played it was because it was a gold cartridge). So, a few years later, that same aunt bought me Twilight Princess for Christmas. TP was the game that gripped me. After I was done, I had to play more. I went through all four games on the collector's edition and wound up finding a way to play LttP and, well, that's it. And so, Zelda is now at the forefront of my fandom. The band Rush has caught my attention in the past as well, but Zelda is still at the top. Zelda rules! EDIT: I almost totally forgot about Batman! Oh, man. How stupid of me. I've been a huge Batman fan since I was about three years old. I love everything to do with Batman. Anything from the Batman universe is almost at par with Zelda. Wow. I can't believe I didn't mention it the first time! |

Zelda was my first, and for a long time only, internet fandom. Though I didn't join any message boards before late 2003, I started looking up Zelda sites back in the late Golden Age of the community, around the year 2000. I can't remember when I found this site, but I remember that I'd just heard about "three little known Zelda games for the Philips CD-i" and I googled (well, I used Yahoo, but you know what I mean) Faces of Evil, but I misspelled it and one of the search results was The Fall of Evil by Kirsty and Jules. That first time I didn't click on it. I was too curious about the Philips CD-i games (you know what they say, curiousity killed the cat). Later I re-googled the misspelling and clicked on the link to The Fall of Evil, and was directed to this site. Recently, I've also joined The Elder Scrolls community, and the Stargate community. In both communities I use the same username as here. Zephros and Shadsie have both recommended fan fics from other communities, so let me do the same. Though it's written a bit unusual, here's a link to a very big Stargate fan fic series. But, before you click the link, don't mind Season 11. It was before the author decided to write a long continuation of SG-1, and he didn't really know what to do with it. erm. Zelda. And that's it really. Oh, I'm also part of a Formula One themed RP series, but that's not really a fandom in the traditional sense. Aside from that, there are other things that I enjoy, but I've never gone to the extent of writing fiction or taking part in an RP, so I don't really count that as being part of a fandom. |
