Music plays a significant role in setting the tone and mood of situations, particularly when the writing offers a more neutral approach. Therefore, it is worth some time to consider what style of music is desirable for the VN. While this is a topic that can be closely linked with the overall theme of when the story will be taking place, it is not inherently required to be. There are plenty of instances in numerous types of works where music from a completely different time period or culture is used, despite the existence of something that would have been more overtly suitable. Regardless, it will likely be an easier topic to approach after the general theme and setting for the VN are decided, but early comments and thoughts are still helpful. Definitely an easier topic to approach after knowing more of the story, but...simple stuff would definitely be easier, both on the creator and on the listener. Simple piano tunes, for example. Not too complex, but enough to bring out some emotion. |

I also share that opinion, but even with simple themes and a small number of voices, a skilled composer can craft a really remarkable piece. It's like with anything else; the more skill you have, the more you can do with less. |

If we're going to steampunk it, then some English folk music and Victorian-era dance tunes it is, with a mild industrial synth and grind to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK3WZ31pZFI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLGoKGOFk2M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IPDmmFSGCw&feature=related |

You're better with music than I am. Do what feels right. |

I can absolutely work with this theme. Going to be busy for a few days, but I'll see what I can get going. |

Some Anglican church music can fly as well, for the dramatic parts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0EnHqUGLCI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z33hDQ4YofY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuFA3DmglwI |
