'Coding', in a VN sense, consists in large part of grunt work - inserting lines from the script and whatnot. However, precisely because it's simple, a proper allocation of tasks becomes essential; otherwise, we'd have people doing the same chunks of script, wasting time. ...Well, this will become more important once we start work on the real novel itself, but still. As for the prototype, given its size, it's probably best to have one person handle converting it. I figure we can divide the main script into chunks about that size, maybe a bit bigger, once there's more work to do. Given that I already threw together roughly half of the prologue (pre-revision), and that I conveniently happen to have a 3-hour-break between classes today with nothing to do, I figured I'd give it a go a bit later today - but please object, anyone else, if you've already started it yourself. |

For the prototype, since its short, I really don't mind you coding the actual script. I'll handle the menu and Shrui can place sprites, music, etc in the coded script. Or something like that. For the real deal, we can easily split it up coding into parts by routes. That way would be the easiest way, I would think. |

Yeah, that's pretty much in line with my thinking. ...We need a more convenient way to share files... like a google docs folder or something. But for now: Prototype script: http://www.mediafire.com/?fue0ea3cm41nm7x |

I agree. Coming up with a better way to fileshare would be a bit more convenient. I guess with google docs, we can share the script (coded one). and people can add stuff to it Oh! That actually might work out pretty well. Edited by Randerith, Jan 25 2011, 03:57 PM.

Btw, I like how you coded this Psi. I didn't go through it all but is that the entire prologue scene? |

Google Docs should be more than enough (unless someone wants to make a SVN server or something like that...). |

SVN server... I'm not that good with servers since that stuff gets kinda complex with realtime interactions. Google docs should suffice. |

The first (bulk) part of script.rpy includes everything from this post: http://s4.zetaboards.com/OT_Visual_Novel/single/?p=8150208&t=8350441 plus commented-out calls for sprites/bgs/sound/music, just thrown in as I thought they would fit (I did include the ones refrenced in that post, but I also added some). Most of tips.rpy is frankensteined from relevant bits of this post: http://s4.zetaboards.com/OT_Visual_Novel/single/?p=8146854&t=8330099 And everything else included is just me messing around. I didn't change much in options.rpy, just the default text speed and such. Edited by Psi, Jan 25 2011, 04:53 PM.
