I. Respect other writers and the admins. If someone asks you something or does not feel comfortable with something, do your best to resolve it without creating unnecessary issues. If it persists, someone is going to get punished, and no one likes that, right? If something does happen to escalate, do not take diffusing the situation into your own hands- find an admin. We're here to resolve issues as well as help you. We will hear both sides of an argument before making a decision on what to do. II. Do not PG or GM on the boards. There is a time and a place for silliness. Keep it to the ooc boards, and even then, keep it to a minimum. Your local god of war gets irritated by that type of behavior, and he's not unwilling to come down from the heavens and kill you himself. If you don't know what these terms apply to, associate yourselves with them. They are the be all and end all of what is deemed wrong in Tier 1 roleplaying. III. There are proper rules of engagement. Adhere to them. If you're rping with someone new, make sure you okay it with them first. Some people don't want their plots to be interrupted by spontaneity, others thrive on it. You never know who you're approaching unless you ask. When you do this, make your intentions completely clear; if you're into violence, make sure they're alright with the RP taking a turn in that direction. If you're looking for love, make sure it's in the right places. Zaret has plenty of awkward to spread around, don't make situations moreso than they need to be. IV. We've got a lot of storytelling to do. We like plot based characters. If you want to tell a story, welcome to our world. If you want to be the biggest badass in the universe, go somewhere where your E-peen actually matters. We have a place for fighting, and there certainly is a place for fighting in the stories we tell... but we're here to collaborate, not dominate. If it comes to our attention that you're intentionally compromising RP for someone else, you'll be dealt with. Harshly. V. The admins are writers too. We will have our own characters, we will be interacting with you, and we will be adhereing to these rules just as strictly as you should be. If we break our rules, we are subject to the consequences as well. Not everyone is out to get you- we want to have fun too, and we're more than willing to take damage, get our hands dirty, write dirty love stories, kill innocent people and even piss on the sidewalk with you. You can treat us like friends, we'll do you the same courtesy, however, if an altercation does come up between you and someone else, expect to be dealt with in a bipartisan manner. We will not tell you who we are, even if you guess correctly. VI. Magic: there will be special guidelines appointed for every different type of magic. Zaret is the brains behind that outfit. He'll have something for you in that department after I finish laying out what you need to know. VII. IC and OOC: In character and Out of Character. Know the difference. Learn it, live it and love it, because you're going to save yourself a ton of heartache by doing so. We don't want fights springing up between writers because someone took something far too seriously. We also don't want internet bullies or stalkers. Don't make us take action against you in that regard, we try to be nice people. VIII. Equipment. Keep it realistic. If your character is five feet and three inches tall, weighs all of a hundred and twenty pounds and is scrawny as all hell, he better not be decked out in full plate wearing several bastard swords, a few hundred knives and maintain a running speed of 5 miles per hour. If not suffering from severe back pain, he had better be moving at a snail's pace. Try to keep it to what you can manage in a worst case scenario, because more often than not, that's when you'll end up needing it. IX. NPCs. Enjoy them- romance them, kill them, use them to interact and write your way from one place to another: keep the number of them managable, of course, and make sure you give them a multidimensional personality. Pete the Security Guard isn't just some guy who apparated from nothingness to guard your castle. He was a man born of a woman, raised in a family of four, forced to scrounge for what food he could in order to survive. He learned Jiu Jitsu from an elderly man who took pity on him in his youth and helped him come from nothing to maintaining a 9 to 5, and he's been studying for three years to get through the Police Academy. Get it? Everyone has a story, either make it up or don't NPC. It doesn't necessarily have to be a good story, and it doesn't even have to be fully conveyed to the audience, just make sure you aren't kicking around a rag doll to look cool rather than advance the story. X. Enjoy the site. Zaret and the rest of us admins are pleased to offer you a place to write creatively and express yourself with like minded folks. We have these rules for your benefit. Don't give us the shaft and we won't show you the door. |

I have existed since long before you were born. I have taken more lives than can be counted, and I will eventually watch you die as well. War is the last reality you will ever know. Only the dead have seen the end of war- Plato

On the topic of Explicit Material, in the utmost sarcastic tone of voice thou'st can imagine: I don't care, neither does Ezekial for that matter(because I say so), about explicit posts. He fucked she, she fucked she, they had an orgy where everyone fucked everyone. Sex is part of a story if you make it so. This does not, in the least, entitle you to have a character who's only aspect is so you can cyber with people. I will ban that character with a ferocity you'll never know. Right after I laugh in your face. The rule is this: You are allowed to display sex in a way that enhances your storyline, or is just simply, "What they would do, given the situation." You're allowed to make a statement with your act. But be warned, all actions have a reaction. If your message is to have a mass orgy in the town square of a large city, expect that your PC will be arrested and put on trial, and also that in ancient times, many people were considered guilty until proven innocent or otherwise. IC consequences are serious. Why Am I Taking This Stance? Because suppressing sexuality and indecency won't make it go away. If you don't want to read it, don't. I won't think any less of you, and neither will anyone express such an opinion. I realize most sites would rather say "No, you can't have sex because it's nothing but smut," but I don't think that way. Have sex, but make it worthwhile to read as part of a story. ----- Also, as I suppose this falls under explicit material: Be as gorey and descriptive as you like. I encourage writers to have a way with words. If your specialty or favorite descriptions(I know mine are) are extra gore-filled, intetines split open and spilling juices, hearts exploding, absolute joy-filled liferape of another being, go for it. I love it when I have chills from reading things like that. Yours with Sarcasm Always, -Z. |

I am the ultimate illusion; the harder you look, the more you try to understand, the less real things will be. I can crush your reality in a second, and then make you question whether what happened really did. So ask yourself, before you confront me, before you beg, are you insane enough yet? If you're asking what: Whatever the fuck I feel like. If you're asking why: Because I fucking can.
