In days past, we fought alongside our lord and father Zeus, in the greatest war known to time. We called it the Titanomachy, The War of the Titans. We faced the might of our father's father, Cronus, and his titans on the fields of Thessaly. After a struggle that lasted for centuries, our father, along with the help of Athena, Apollo, and Artemis, cast Cronus and his titans headlong into the abyss of Tartarus, a giant worm that resided beneath the underworld of Hades.

Ages passed. Our watchful eyes watched the birth of civilization, the conquests of heroes, and the arguments of our children. But while we sat idle in Olympus, Cronus's deception reached Tartarus's ears. Cronus crawled out from the torture pits of Tartarus's stomach and escaped into our world. Cronus knew of the barrier that kept mortals from the pristine valley in apex of Mount Olympus, and he drove Tartarus to the center of our home. His teeth tore through the earth, and the tortured souls of the abyss poured out of Tartarus like a plague of locusts, covering the clear sky of Olympus. With one bite, the living dungeon of suffering sent our father's throne to darkness. As we retreated from the place we had called home for centuries, we watched our ancient enemy, and his titans take our place on Olympus. With Tartarus spewing out a never ending army, the sinful dead took up arms against the world, marching forth from Olympus, as a shadow of death. We fled to our cities, rallying any able man into our army, desperately preparing for the coming storm. Hermes left for the North with haste; bringing news of our need to Macedonia, Athena called her Athenians to arms, Apollo traveled to Delphi in his shining chariot, hoping to find an answer from its famed oracle and Ares promised eternal glory to the Spartans.Posted Image
We were able to muster the largest force Greece has ever seen. 10,000 hoplites marched together from all corners of the mainland, coming from the North of Macedonia to the Southern tip of Sparta. Led by Athena's wisdom, and armed by Hephaestus himself, we marched this grand army to the one place fitting for a war against the titans; Thessaly. We were joined there by Thessaly's centaurs, the deadly hunters of the forest, fighting on Artemis’s behalf.Posted Image
We underestimated the might of the titans. The titan Coes was a hundred times more devious than Athena. The sharpened spears and reinforced armor of Hephaestus could not match the warriors of Pallas, the titan of war. The song of their bows was lead by Lelantos, whose arrows could deflect the shots of Apollo and Artemis. It was time that had fooled us. We had simply forgotten how powerful our elders were, and why they were named the titans and we the gods. Before the day's end, Hermes signaled the retreat. We left, unable to bury our dead whose bodies choked the river Styx.Posted Image
Out of desperation, Hades opened the heavy Doors of Orpheus, and returned every lost soul to life. He dug further into his realm and brought heroes from ages past to our war; Achilles, Hercules, Odysseus and Jason and more; heroes of a hundred quests and conquests. Our passive uncle had given us one last chance to win the war and reclaim our precious Olympus.Posted Image
With the coming of their heroes, our 10, 000 regained their strength, and re-marched to the North. To ensure our victory, our father Zeus allowed us to grant our mortals our blessings. The elderly regained their youth, the sick regained their health. Those who followed Hermes could race with the winds, and those who prayed to Apollo could tend the most terrible wounds with nothing but their hands or lost their sight in order to see through the veils of time. In the blink of an eye, our 10, 000 became an army of heroes. And the twelve of us—gods all—led them against the mighty titans. After countless battles, we pushed forwards to Thessaly, and while our heroes fought with all their might, we flew to our old home in the mountains, to destroy the titans and return Tartarus to his rightful place beneath the earth. War raged on Thessaly for days with neither side faltering, as those who fell simply slipped past the gates of Tartarus to resume the carnage. While within Olympus, roars of thunder shook Greece as the King of the Gods fought the King of Titans.

After three months of continuous combat, the shaking of Greece ended when Zeus impaled Cronus with a lightning bolt. The titans had one weakness which we did not share. Even if they were timeless entities, the titans felt the strains of age, and every day we made them bleed and fight, their fatigue grew more and more. Our father's lightning bolt was thrown with such force that it impaled Cronus and threw him back into the gaping mouth of Tartarus. Without their king, the titans were helpless and Zeus brought each of them to their knees. To prevent Cronus and his titans from ever escaping again, Zeus mutilated the ears and eyes of Tartarus, leaving him in darkness and silence for eternity, as punishment for aiding the titans.

Without the assistance of Tartarus, our army in Thessaly quickly pushed the titan's army back into the abyss. As a gift and reward for assisting us in our time of need, we allowed the mortals to keep their blessings, and gave our heroes a place in Olympus, so they may share our peace for the rest of time, watching over humanity as it develops. With the titan’s defeated, it wasn’t long before the mortals began to fight amongst themselves once more with Sparta declaring war against the city-state of Athens. The war against the titans and the 10, 000 blessed quickly became forgotten, dismissed as nothing more than another story, as withered away and died with the passing of time. And we watched. We watched as the Macedonian swept across the world, and then the Romans rising from the cinders of Greece.

The Titanomachy was forgotten and washed over like sand by time. We became stories when new gods came to be. When we lost our believers, we decided to leave Olympus, allowing our nymphs to tend the sacred valley while we lived as immortals among humanity. We took different identities, and every few centuries, we would change them. Some of us chose seclusion, while others decided to become part of the mortal society. As we became comfortable with the life of a mortal, Khronos, the keeper of time, felt a disturbance in the fabric of time and space.

A shadow looms over the world. The past has been altered, and Cronus is once more poised to return to this world. Having learned our lesson from the Titanomachy, we decided to reveal ourselves to the world and open a school, inviting every human child with our re-awakened gifts and powers so that they could be trained to fight a war against Cronus. To fight in a war where time is the battlefield and to triumph where we faltered.
