Arc Event: New Year's Revolutions - "Did someone call for protagonist hax?"
Since the site history is just a big blank sheet we're giving playable characters the chance to set up household names from the get go. This could be a pretty bad idea.

Monthly Event: Fresh Foundations - "I guess it is TECHNICALLY A Pyramid Scheme..."

When an SL is completed and Commissioned the topic will be reviewed by a Grader. Graders will then reward the topic as they see fit. Graders aren't literacy and language experts, neither are they appointed to groom members into such a mould. Graders merit the level at which you Roleplay to develop a character. In a sense, rewards are a method of trying to mirror or more to the point catch up to what the member has RP'd in the SL in question. Here are the three most common ways people attempt to show development through RP'ing.
  • Feats - Taking a gamble at a new situation for a character, or even something familiar with new stipulations can show growth. It can and typically will raise the opinion of your character in others. Feat-based threads are very self evident and straight forward. Feats are virtually impossible to accomplish if they are outside the stat range of your character because of this. If this is your forté, you will have to learn how to make the best out of what you can do. Remember, just because it won't make the headlining news in the world papers, doesn't mean it's any less real or viable... just not famous.
  • Growth - Even if you can already do something, there's always a chance you can do it better with a little more practice. This is not an excuse to make a singular post of your character running off to the gym pumping weights (see below)! Taking the time to note your character is a little sharper, making that continuity from SL to SL; it's all for the good.
  • Evolution - The other side of the coin to growth. This speaks more of how brand new items, skills and abilities are debuted. It's easy to present your character's latest toy as something they always had, something not worth batting an eyelid but that is exactly how it will be seen come rewards time. Your character has changed, acquiring something that they didn't have before. Your RP'ing should also evolve to show that. Something must have happened to bring this new power out of your character. If you don't RP it, you can't be rewarded for it.

I know what you're thinking by this point and that's entirely what you think you read! It's easy to think up of how your characters next battle can encompass one, or maybe even all of the points above. But battles are not the only means (or the best to be honest) of showing any one of these three points. Don't feel as if your character needs to be in stitches and gauze at the end of every SL to get some rewards. Your character never has to lift a finger in battle to reap rewards from RP'ing.

...But even still. Sticking only to these three ideas gives you a start. As one can imagine, the same idea can be RP in two entirely different ways and as such get entirely different results from a Grader. When thinking about how to maximise your rewards it's all about the performance:

  • Interaction - Unlike stories or fan fiction, when RP's have more than one author they distinct personalities and opinions are obvious. Member A may try to RP in one direction while Member B heads in a complete opposite one. You may be inclined to think that an SL that does not go exactly as you envisioned it as a failure, however Graders will always appreciate an SL will reads like a collection of different minds as opposed one mind being in complete control or worse - in oppression of the others. One should note that Solo SLs (SLs in which only one member participates) are the worst culprits of this by virtue of their only ever being one physical mind at play. Should you decide to engage in a solo SL be very mindful that you RP as each individual character as opposed to a singular author.
  • Sincerity - Beware of Status Quo. It's easy in an all to familiar scenario to RP your character playing an all too familiar role on queue (see: Brawl-in-a-Bar Syndrome). However, is that actually your character or just opportunity? In other words, is this just a cliché happening around your character or are you simply RP'ing a cliché? If this is your own character they should respond to it in their own way. Expect no remorse when you RP outside your character profile for the sake of seeming edgy, smart or cool in a specific moment. Lack of sincerity can actually see potential rewards for a scene fizzle away. Again: Beware the Status Quo.
  • Dedication - This feature is more indirect than the other two: At what point does an RP turn into a report? A film and a news report can both tell a story, but the difference is very clear. One lists the facts in order giving you the story from a spectator, someone on the "outside". The other fills in all the necessary scenes giving you the story from the view of the character, someone on the "inside". This is harder to see in RP, because most people RP in 3rd person but remember - Graders aren't interested in being told what your character did, they expect to read it happening, see how it happened. Just because your character has the means or the opportunity to do something does not mean you deserve rewards whether or not you actually RP it happening.

Graders reward in "small" portions as they read through the SL and all these commendations are tallied at the end. These tallies, while not presented in the rewards table, can be requested by members for personal use.

Rewards come in one of three variants: SP, Beli and Prizes.

SP is the most common reward and is easiest to attain through making SLs. Beli is more notorious in events, since it is used to by items and/or features to enhance SLs - which garner SP. Prizes come through rather special methods of development, typically (but not always) when the RP'd development of a character has a significant effect on the OPFW canon. These include titles, items and in some cases even abilities. These are usually seen at the need of Arcs and Sagas as SLs rarely span great enough to be prize-worthy. One should note these three reward types are all independent of one another. Gaining some or a lot of one does not justify being rewarded in another.

Graders also have minor clerical work to note in grading, such as Fuel Penalties and additions to ability counts. To make the transition from Grading to Processing easy Rewards will be given in the following template:

(These can range to notes for future SLs or simply something prominent a Processor should take note of, like a new anchor to the character's reputation)
