How To... Start Out First and Foremost, you need to make sure this is the RP society you were looking for. Checking the Rights and Responsibilities of OPFW members is the best place to find out. If what you see takes your fancy, then you should look to make a character. Open a topic and take a Profile Template. There are many different features to making a character profile. The first look should be to the Character F.A.Q.. If it does not immediately tell you what you need to know it should link you to what you need to read. Remember: All System-Related links have their own F.A.Q. too. If you feeling to be inventive or specific, these F.A.Q.s are their for you technical and savvy peeps. After finishing a draft and posting it for review a Processor will look through it and notify you of any corrections that are needed to be made, or answer any questions you may have posted. Once you receive that all important approval, your character is officially approved and is ready to use in RP! Add your newly mad character to your signature using the Signature Template. (Remember to use the ACTUAL character profile, no the application sheet the mods approved! The Application sheet won't be kept up to date!) Story Time Any thread in which you RP is called a storyline (SL for short). There is no rule over finishing one storyline for a character before starting a new one. SLs can run consecutively or simultaneously. The idea of creating new SLs is to make keeping track of your own RP'ing easier, whether that be stopping to many events or people active in one thread, or being able to distinguish one scene from another. Once a Storyline is completed, you can post it up in the Commission Office for a Grader to have a look at it and receive your rewards. It might help to take a look at what rewards are available before rushing out to RP. Be careful when trying to save time by opening up several SLs with one character. The SLs have to flow with a sense of canon from past to present. If something happens to your character in one SL which invalidates another, only the earliest of SLs will be counted as valid, meaning no rewards for the rest! Level Up! So you have a couple of completed storylines under your belt? You will probably want to add your rewards to your character first of all, you can do so in the Commision Office. Use the Commission Template to post the rewards and changes to your character. The likelihood is, with a change to the adventure section to a character profile, you may have new ideas for techniques. Use the Technique Commission Template and post your application in the same place. Feel free to ask a Processor for a no-code copy of a part of your character if required. Pimpin' Out It's probably about this time you will be thinking about expanding, in both gang and garrison. For Weapons Ships and all other such items, look to the Market. For new comrades and allies, use the Nakama Corner. Roll Up! Roll Up! You might also want to take part in some of the site events. Events come in two forms, Monthly events and Arc Events. Monthly events switch over once every month (unless popularity or demand insist they continue or repeat for a second month). They are games or OOC activities and means for players to score prizes outside of RP. Arc events have no set time to appear, and are IC events which in which players must RP to be involved in, whether they are canon or non-canon. There will always be two events being held on the site, one Monthly, the other Arc. |

How To... Claim a Devil Fruit Devil Fruits are probably the most versatile property on Fresh Wave. They can be bought with traits, traded with beli and have several levels of ownership that numerous people can make claim to. Below I will hopefully explain how all this is possible. Using Traits a member can OOC'ly give the right of a DF to a specific character. Owning the DF does not mean the character must eat the fruit or has already eaten the fruit, meaning a character can hold the trait for numerous fruits at once providing they have the trait points. They do not even need to RP having the fruits - they buy the right to RP eating or holding them. Using Beli or otherwise hire-purchase items a member can trade for Devil Fruit owned by another character. Such a trade can happen between any two characters so long as the owners (or owner) agree and for as much in return as they can agree on. This monetary trade does not need to occur Ic'ly. The characters do not even need to me IC'ly for the trade to be legitimate. They are trading the right to eating or RP'ing the use of the fruit (usually for the buying party to eat said fruit). The character who traded the money does not then need to open up the trait points for the DF they bought, neither does the character who originally procured the DF via traits become free of the traits by selling it. Making Claims is always a sticky situation. When a character is accepted in the Character Creation Forum and has a devil fruit, the Processor who approved the character will add it to the Devil Fruit Claims List. Until the same day in the next month, the fruit is safeguarded from other members who might try to gain that DF's trait. However once this day arrives, the name on the list will be highlighted in orange, noting to all other members that this DF is now available. In order to keep the DF safe, the original holder must post in the Claims thread within the month to restart the clock. When a DF is traded with beli (or whatever other time one has requested) the name of the character owning the devil fruit will also switch over on the Claims List by the Processor who approves the trade, meaning the onus is now on the DF wielder. If the Df is taken by a new member after the name goes orange, the original taker of the fruit cannot trade in the traits. For those who traded their fruit, this is a non issue as they keep their money. However for the original eater of the fruit, the character becomes void as it can no longer RP having the fruit and will have to choose between re-conning all the DF related history to the character or axing it to make a new one, either of which will most likely required Future Endeavouring the character. That's just the politics, using these fruits can also be a little hazardous... How To... Use a Devil Fruit Technique The purpose of purchasing a DF, via traits or through trading&bartering is that you have already paid for whatever bonuses the DF gives you. That is why Devil Fruit Techniques are so detailed and unique in what a singular technique is allowed to do. Naturally one thinks about making techniques with an acquired DF, but the concern is in overlapping moves with the DF technique. The easiest way to check this is to decipher what happens to the technique if you strip away the DF abilities. This is how our processors analyse them. If the tech cannot exist without the DF then it should be covered by the DF Technique if it isn't already. If the technique still holds, but may be a lot weaker - even if it's completely infective - then it's a solid technique and will be judged as such. For example: Luffy ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi, which gives him parametic properties of rubber. His most vintage attack "Gomu Gomu no Pistol" is a devil fruit based attack. If Luffy was an OPFW character, the details of stretching would have been covered in the devil fruit technique, as to how it empowers his moves and gives him added range to melee attacks ect. So removing the "Gomu Gomu" leaves Luffy with a punch. A simple Punch. Which is a rank range of 1-7. Hence "Gomu Gomu no Pistol" is a rank 1-7 move in the Technique Listings Guide |

How To... Use NPCs (Non-Player Characters) All members of Fresh Wave have the fundamental privilege of using NPCs. There are three main categories, passing NPC , player-owned NPCs and board NPCs. Dependent on which type of NPC is used in an SL, changes to grading will occur to account for them. Passing NPCs capture the entourage of characters that make up the background to the one piece world; locals, shop vendors spectators. Passing NPCs need no form of character profile as they are too irrelevant or insignificant for anyone else to re-use. Even if such a character is major to your current SL or Arc they hold no meaningful position in the world. When a PC or Player-Owned NPC is also used by a member in an SL, Passing NPCs are graded as Player-Owned NPCs (see below). If the member has used Board NPCs, they are treated as Board NPCs (see below). Enemy characters can fit into this mould, but they must also be insignificant, both to the world and in relation to your character - defeating or overcoming a Passing NPC in anyway should be a personal victory, so there are no advances in reputation or bonus rewards from beating a Passing NPCs. They are seen as part of the furniture; there simply to be used. Choosing to appreciate or focus on them is entirely up to you. Player-Owned NPCs are NPC acquired by a PC's traits. These such NPCs are treated as quasi-individual characters. The Trait Section will show that detail and individuality is (mostly) in the hands of the player who owns them. Furthermore these NPCs can be RP'd separately to the PC who "bought" them. This type of NPC can be RP'd in different situations or completely separate SL to the Owner. In terms of grading, this type of NPC can earn their own Beli and prizes, however they cannot earn SP whether for themselves or for the "Owner". Board NPCs are those "owned" by the board (in the same way NPC acquired by traits are owned by the member who acquired them). Board NPCs require a character profile, just like any traditional PC would. Board PCs are significant enough to the Fresh Wave world that all other players should be notified of them from the moment they are created and established, so that they are neither over nor underestimated by personal opinion or gain. One should note that a board NPC does not need to be a "fighter", a great leader, or a fabled entity also fit into this category. While Fresh Wave does not appoint a sect of moderators to keep NPCs active, it instead board NPCs are handled by a player who is nominated as the narrator. A narrator can only use Passing or Board NPCs for any SL they are appointed Narrator, however they are the only members of an SL that can use Board NPCs. The appointed Grader will grade as normal for Board NPCs, as if they were individual characters, however in totalling, any Rewards Board NPCs would acquire is halved. The narrator can then nominate one of their own characters to receive the other "half" of all the Rewards. Board NPCs are made for one of two reason; inspiration and necessity. Those made by inspiration refer to times when a member will used the Suggestion Box to put ideas-to-post. Such ideas do not need to complete the entire Character Profile, or even the bulk of it. The member is free to suggests as much or as little as they choose after all, and the suggestion and be spliced or sliced before implemented. Necessity on the other hand comes about when such an NPC has been thought up mid SL and the SL has been asked to be graded without the NPC being made. When a Grader suitably deems an NPC Board-worthy, the SL will not be graded until the NPC is made and linked. The NPC will be reviewed by Processors just as normal before being approved, to make sure statistics, histories and other such features are appropriate. If the Grader deems the Board NPC created and the NPC rp'd do not correlate, the SL can be voided, meaning it will either need to be re-worked or scrapped. Board NPCs received their awards by the relevant Grader of the SL making a commission topic on their behalf. Edited by Strider Xan, Jan 30 2012, 11:09 PM.

How To... Battle While the beauty of free-form ultimately limits the flow of a battle only by one's imagination, there's a few outlines which all fights abide by.
Example This method stops players having to interrupt RP'ing to label/describe techniques. It also stops them having to describe or list a specific technique more than once, as the footnote (e.g. [1]) can be repeated each time that particular technique is used. Coding

5,000,000 and can only be bought in the grand line, however because it is the only means of traversing Paradise, they are common enough to be bought from any economically developed country or specific Logpose vendor.
