It was a grueling climb to the top of this so called ‘master’s’ residence. Why did the wise choose to live such secluded lives anyway? If anything, they should be at the beck and call of humanity who always need the help of one saint or another. Luckily though, the mountain path had been traveled before; the stone was carved into steps, thousands upon thousands of perfect, straight-edged, rectangular steps. But hey, if the mountain didn’t kill you, the view sure did. Behind the steps was a tremendous forest that extended beyond the scope of any eye less of an omnipotent one. The individual tree could not be picked out anymore, in a forest everything conforms to one another, providing shade and shelter for the individuals with the spark of life left inside them. Although the leafy paradise was far below, the smell of nature remained in the hard stone, and resonated between every step. The scent was so powerful, almost nauseating actually, enough to choke any man and force them to hate the mother which borne him- that was the environment the hermit chose to live in. They say a house says a lot about a man; as was true of the shack atop the mountain. Overlooking everything below was a quaint house, too large to be considered homely but too small to be called extravagant. The walls seemed to have risen straight up from the stone beneath it, being one with the mountain. The only thing which differentiated the dwelling from another rock formation was a half open window, a partially open door and a magnificent red roof. Beside the house was its ever trusty shed, the right hand man so to say, which held an anvil, ore and the workshop for the greatest blacksmith among these parts. But beside that was another oddity, a well, and this high up from the ground! In fact, if one looked down from the edge of the cliff, the ground would’ve been covered by an offsetting fog. And it was in this environment that you were said to train, what are your thoughts-if any about what awaits you? Would there be trials? Would this blacksmith really offer any service to you? And what about your rivals- would they be just the regular fodder, or perhaps diamonds in the rough, just like you… |

Collin let out a loud grunt as he made his way up the thousands of steps up to the mastern on the mountain. His legs were extremly powerful, but even for the strongest warrior, such a climb could get very difficult and annoying after a while, or, after the three thousand steps he had already walked up. He sighed, and forced himself on. If the master was as helpful, and the trial as giving and hard, and the blacksmiths as skillfulled as the story told, it would be worth it. Collin knew that he was the first one to have reached the stairs, and he knew that he was not the only one to journey for the master. He looked behind himself, down the steps he has already passed. He could see people down there, humans he guessed. Bah, worthless scum. No more than pieces of rotten pieces of wood. He would be the one to reach the master, and win the trials. No one elese. No one. He would see to that, even if he would have to kill the people behind him. And besides, he would be glad if he had to do so. After another little while, he reached the top of the stair. He looked at the window in the house, before he walked inside the door. Why would he bother to knock? He was the Horseman of War. |
![]() Collin O'Donnell - "I don't belive in breaks unless it involves breaking a bone." Martin Asmodai - "Who am I...?" Rumo Gore - "Yes, Corina, we did it. We saved they Country of Syrenia, we saved it's people from almost certain death, we saved them from being wiped out of history. This battle may pass down in history as one of the greatest battles for freedom ever made, or maybe it will not. But we have indeed saved your land, and you can live on in peace. But to what cost has this great victory been achieved? Great losses have been made, huge sacrifices of friends that no man but one self can understand, pain and suffering to limits beyond human imagination. Three great warriors of much honour fell on the battle field, as while true to their dreams, yet focused on their task at hand. May they, or may they not have achived their goals in life, but their voices shall be forever stuck in our hearts by beautiful song as from Angels, a song that will never die, a song that will be passed on from generation of generation of Pirates! The story of Sting the Wild, Luzu the Strong... and the truly most brightest star on the sky, the tale of Jake the Brave, who sacrificed himself for the sake of what he belived in, and for his Nakama! Yes Corina, we have won. And it is a glorious day! But we can never forget what sacrifices that has been done on this day. For without these great deeds of courage... There would be no tomorrow!" Seto gave a long, deep sigh. Each step seemed to take longer and longer, and the distance to the top seemed to loom ever further away. He had been walking for who-knows-how-long. He had lost count, and why he cared in the first place, he didn't know. It seemed someone had arrived slightly before him, but not by much. His eyes absently wandered about him, noticing someone further down, behind him. Was that all? Just three? Two shouldn't be too hard to overcome...He didn't want to underestimate either of them, though. His mind wandered back to his crew, they weren't even on the island. It soon made its way to thoughts of the things at hand. Who knew what this ojii-san would have them do as trials... He only hoped his 'reward' was worth it. He hadn't really noticed how far he had gotten while his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of his crew and the trials ahead, until he took the last step atop the mountain. He had arrived only a minute or two after the first, and that left that single person behind him. He slowly made his way towards the 'house', and knocked on the door slightly before peeking inside. |

The climb was treacherous. Many people probably wimped out by just looking at the mountain. Not Kevin, he liked the challenge. And this so called 'reward' sounded very interesting. He would do almost anything for this new weapon, even a glimpse of it would be a reward for him. What could it possibly be? Kevin was tired but motivated because of the prize. He was quickly scaling the mountain instead of trodding the stairway. He was moving slowly however... climbing was never his strong point and right now he was tired. Ask he came to the top he noticed more people taking the regular way... maybe they were a bit more normal. As the peak came into sight Kevin started to move a bit faster, motivated by knowing it was so close. He didn't know who was up or not and he didn't care. A new weapon was so close and he wanted it. He pulled himself up over the edge and rolled onto his back breathing heavily. He sat up after a few seconds of rest and excitedly studied his surroundings for the first time. |
