Opening Ceremony was observed. Three candles, representing the past, present, and future were lit by OBTA President, David Huff. Tara Beharry, Spirit Manager, set the tone of the meeting with the reading of “Greetings and Thanks to the Natural World” by the Onondaga Nation.

David Huff opened the meeting by outlining the agenda. Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted without changes. After checking to see if there was business arising from the previous minutes, the meeting was turned over to Nicole Fisher who facilitated the creation of the Vision Statement and Mission Statement. Nicole used the survey results submitted to create a start point. Discussions of the various statements developed throughout the process have been posted on the Zeta Board. For insight into the how the statements developed along the way, please take a look at them at http://s4.zetaboards.com/Ontario_BodyTalk/topic/8155277/1/ .

Final Vision statement: (addressing why does the OBTA exist ?)

“The vision of the Ontario BodyTalk Association is to empower ALL to achieve and maintain their full potential “

Mission statement: (how to accomplished the Vision)

“The Ontario Body Talk Association mission is to create unity and action within Ontario through education and awareness of Body Talk as a professional healthcare system.”

Some of the factors contemplated and discussed in arriving at this statement included:
• The statements be kept broad so as to encompass the many arenas in which BodyTalk protocol can be used; Individuals, families, groups, businesses, AnimalTalk, EarthTalk, PlantTalk, etc.
• To create a statement that envisions the highest achievable goal
• To create statements that would prove to be timeless… wording was seriously considered so as not to include buzz words that may change over time
• To develop statements that members could resonate with… that through their wording members could see themselves taking a step into BEING IT.
• That the mission statement be an active oriented statement in support of the vision statement
• To develop statements that will serve to provide focus and define our mandate.

The meeting ended on a high note with the accomplishment of creating both a vision and a mission statement for the Ontario BodyTalk Association.

Agenda items for the next meeting were discussed. David encouraged the attendees to take initiative individually to come up with ideas in their various areas of interest. It was suggested that we bring forward ideas on the various options, both with and without money, as to how we can accomplish the strategies, goals and techniques of the association. Participants were encouraged to use the Zeta Board and that way anyone who wished to be involved would have opportunity to participate in the on-going discussions. Topics to consider included: website ideas, how we want to create unity, the money question – do we create a membership structure with various levels of membership? How do we cover the various expenditures that will come up in running the association?

Janice McDonald, Karyn Geeza & Luke Morrison are to communicate on membership communication committee ideas. Karyn will post a summary on Zeta Board of a conversation she had with Janice around membership and communications.

Luke suggested Google dot into zeta board. If we can learn BT we can learn this thread too.

Main topics for discussion will be:
1.strategies and goals
2. communication
3.fees?
How do we want to accomplish our mission?

The next meeting was set

The meeting was adjourned. A closing ritual was observed. As the candles were extinguished, Tara read "For A Leader" from To Bless the Space Between Us by John O’Donouhue.
