I'm applying for bureaucrat. Really, though, I'd like to contribute without having to hold some fancy office title. I suppose it's necessary, though, so I guess I'll list my qualifications. Background I've always been a leader, even if I never really liked the attention that the role brought to the holder of the seat. In high school, I led my Chess Club to regionals. In college, I helped with a legal format system for one of the arts clubs to lend out artwork to the members. I also volunteered at a local politician's office. I never liked the role of leader, but I've always been unusually good at it. First place at the regional chess tournament. The legal format and art lending system prevented dissolution of the art club. The politician wanted me to handle volunteer coordination. Did I say that I never liked having the spotlight in a leadership position? I declined to join the rest of the Chess Club past regionals, and instead had the Vice President continue on in my stead. The other members protested, but I didn't want the spotlight. She even came back to me after winning and tried to hand me the 2nd place medal. Just because I deserved at least that much didn't mean that I wanted the recognition of deserving it. I taught her how to play chess, and it was she who had won the spotlight. The art club (no, I won't say which club) members wanted me as their president for being their savior. I declined. I just wanted to help. And the politician (I won't even tell you what region, so don't ask) wanted me to run for one of the municipal offices. I decided to handle volunteer coordination instead. How does this help? Fact is, if elected, I'll help. I don't mean I'll try. I mean I'll actually do something to help. I won't want to be treated too much different, and I wouldn't want the kind of attention that a wholesale admin would get, but away from the spotlight, I'll do what's needed. If you're having an issue with a matter to do with mod options like cuboid, towny, etc., then I'll take a close look at your situation and figure out what, if any, solution can be garnered. If you need materials or know-how, I'll endeavor to help you on your way to gaining the materials, or teaching you what you need to know. If something needs admin rights, I'll try and petition Oracle, or whatever admin is most convenient and expedient for an effective resolution to the issue. If an issue between players arises, I'll try and resolve the issue as best I can, whether by talking to the parties involved, or trying something with a little more material and immediacy (Not that all parties have to agree completely in the end, though). I'm realistic about situations and am used to using what's available. From that vantage, I view the available options and make a decision in the best manner I know how. I want to acquire a position where I can do most good. Whether it be admin, moderator, or a simple representative, whatever is best for everyone as a whole I will aspire towards. |
