TOPIC CONTAINS SPOILER ALERTS this is a topic dedicated to the question, which is better, fullmetal alchemist or fullmetal alchemist brotherhood. most people find that the original FMA is better because it is the original. to those people I say, you don't know squat. unlike the original FMA, FMA brotherhood is actually based off the manga, while FMA has it's own weird story that makes little to no sense. 1 point to focus on is the homunculi, specificly wrath, sloth and pride. while greed, envy, lust and gluttony stay reletivly the same throughout the manga and the 2 anime (thank god). 1. wrath: in the original FMA, wrath is a young boy the izumi accidentally made and has ed's right arm and left leg. Izumi says you make a homunculus by accident when you attempt to revive someone through human alchemy, this is a lie. homunculi can not be created by accident. in the manga and brotherhood, wrath is Führer King Bradley and was created by "father". 2. sloth: in the original FMA, sloth was created when ed and al tried to bring their mother back to life. this sloth has the appearance of her and for some weird, unknown reason has water powers which make 0 sense what so ever. in the manga and brotherhood however, sloth is a bulky homunculus created by "father", while he thinks everything is tiresome, and seems pretty slow (in mind and movement) he is actually the fastest homunculus (in movement only) this makes sense to his name. 3. pride: in the original FMA, pride is Führer King Bradley and has all the same powers as wrath in the manga and brotherhood. in the manga and brotherhood however, pride is actually Führer King Bradley's son, Selim Bradley. created by "father", pride is the oldest of the homunculi but actually looks the youngest. he has the power to control his shadow and is a key point in "father's" plan (will not spoil). something else I noticed between the 2 anime and manga is the sewing life alchemist; shou tucker. in the manga and brotherhood, scar killed both him and his daughter nina who he had turned into a chimera. in the original anime however, scar only killed nina in her chimera form, and shou tucker was turned into a chimera himself. because of this, the original anime was able to continue it's weird storyline. I'm not going to mention anymore, but if anyone who reads this is a big FMA fan just like me, they'll understand how I feel. how I see the first anime is........well instead of an anime of it's own, I see it as one big filler arc, not true to the story. this is how I feel

Well, I'm not too knowledgeable about this, as I've only just started watching the Brotherhood series, and have finished the anime completely. Gotta say, anime ending was a total bummer. I'll start reading the manga when I can, but I'm pretty overloaded with a special project I'm doing, plus reading six different other manga all at the same time. From what I've seen, however, Brotherhood is much better. |
