So this is it. Everything about the 8/16-bit music! Game and non-game, GXSSS and non-GXSSS, your stuff and others' stuff. Well, first, some stuff from mine, all works on real NES. http://www.youtube.com/user/CrashNicker#grid/user/4BA5B769BD9C7D23 Talking about the works of others... ehrm... well, right now, I may give credit to the following OSTs (so the link above wouldn't look like a stooped ad): - Summer Carnival '92: Recca - well, that's my #1 favorite. The game ROX. The graphics ROX. The speed ROX. The music is just pumping and DOUBLEROX. Seriously. Fits the wildness and atmosphere just exactly. - Gimmick! - I know Sunsoft always created kickass music for their games (even for really old Fester's Quest, I like this too, wish that the Addams Family theme was longer), but this is just plain awesome. Of course, they haven't used a regular mapper this time, ending up with having a brand-new mapper with their own sound chip that adds three instruments to overall 2A03's cast. I don't usually prefer having additional music chips in games, but this is one of the few exceptions. - Tom & Jerry - Spectrum-style music at its' best. Loved this game, still love it, also love these 8-bit replicas of the original T&J themes, even if there are two overworld themes all in all. - Unchained Melody multicarts - well, that's obvious why I listed this here. If you don't get the trick, then you haven't owned them in your childhood. - Lion King 5 - if Li Meng made this, I'm gonna kiss him in the cheek. Really, could you expect a pirate game to have such FREAKING AWESOME MUSIC? - Herzog 2010 - ...argh, okay, I'll give a shot to my project too. I really couldn't expect that I'll create such awesomeness without using the expansion chips! My-my. Okay, as the topic's started... tell us what you like. And what chiptune awesomeness you have found recently. |

I'm a huge fan of Renard's songs released under the Kitsune^2 label. Here are two of the albums: http://lapfox.bandcamp.com/album/star-road http://vulpvibe.bandcamp.com/album/squaredance He also made a song inspired by Silver Surfer for the NES: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rz0-PAeV-Q ...these are chiptunes, right? |
