u wanna bring up sphb who has been historically so ridiculously bad with discipline that now if someone gets silenced in a chat channel they spawn 500 forum threads about it?

ya im sorry that sort of attitude isn't welcome here.
lol cool story taking that way out of context. you know, maybe you could learn from other leagues and how they don't let impersonation affect them. i make effective suggestions on how you can stop impersonations (without going ape shit and going LOL IMA FUCK U UP HAHA EAT SHIT WITHOUT INTERNET) but you don't want to listen to it because you hate a league? ya, sphb is a bit ridiculous with some things, but you are way over-exaggerating. we get it, you all west-coasters hate sphbers. fine, whatever, to each his own. but you can definitely learn from other tenured leagues and what they are doing. you going to shut off ISPs is a dick move and you know it. the banning of capsfan was idiotic and you already admitted that. but you want an apology? for a flashgame league? LOLWUT

ya im sorry that I ever thought you were better than this...shutting off ISPs for a fucking online flashgame league = ultimate troll...nice

tl;dr more sphb hate from nowhere, nothing to see here...move along

Nobody would shut down or even contact an ISP over impersonating. That would only be a last resort after banning, and taking all possible other measures, against serious harassment or illegal activity.

imo, punish both the impersonator and the person being impersonated (unless the GM knows he would be gone). It's his own damn fault if he doesn't show up at pre-game or doesn't let GM know why he wouldn't be there. He needs a lesson about how being an indifferent dumbass gets him nowhere.

I don't hate SPHB. I've been a player in SPHB, I've coached a minor league team in SPHB, and I've been on the SPHB forums since the Season 1 playoffs. A lot of the players here that I think are cool are from SPHB. When a bunch of SPHB players came here the night of the draft and wanted to join, despite some protest from the west coast players I let them join. Many of my GMs (PK Subban, Toke, Froz3n, Hugz) are from SPHB, and many of my former GMs (Kesler, Tzedek, Tiki) were also from SPHB.

What I was saying is that SPHB has had, and has always had problems with keeping players in line to the extent that everyone loses their shit any time anything happens. For example, had we been SPHB, every time that Fish makes the IRC channel +M, we would have 500 forum threads in all caps about it, and we'd probably have three or four people try and stage an "overthrow".

And to say that we should "learn" from SPHB on how to not let impersonation affect them is ridiculous, because you guys are affected by this impersonation and I know this from first hand experience.

You wanna know how bad you guys are you discipline? You have people over there who had multiple accounts (some going as far as to having 8) and rather than punishing them, SPHB let them slide and "admit" to it to have their accounts deleted. You have a guy who impersonated someone else to get them banned, and fucked up part of the forums, admit to all of this the next day, and suffer no punishment.

The difference between SPHB and PHL is that I'm not afraid to ban the shitheads. You know why? Because I don't give a shit if anyone quits the league, or if I lose a player is a shithead. I'm not afraid of silencing retarded critics of mine, or stepping over any perceived line over what is proper conduct for a commissioner or not. The difference between PHL and SPHB is that the admins at SPHB desperately want things to work, and honestly if PHL burned down tomorrow, I would probably be happier with my life since that's 10 more hours of shit I can do every week, and I can just play Haxball whenever the fuck I want in pub rooms with my friends.

To think that I would actually dial up every ISP associated with the IP addresses impersonating people is ridiculous because it goes against everything that I've said and everything that I've done with the league. I'm simply warning people that this sort of harassment over the internet is often against most ISP's terms of service, and that should people continue to harass the league then I won't hesitate to begging someone on the IRC to call the ISP for me.

HK, Firecrotch and Goat already have a way to stop impersonation next season, you should really talk to them and try to do similar things in order to prevent impersonation.

impersonation is just really retarded, SURE its on the teams to keep track, but sometimes slips happen in the heat of the moment, but also i do agree teams need to get better with impersonation prevention.

good luck phl with stopping this problem, I do have to agree that shutting someones internet down is EXCESSIVE, if yhou can even do that, hk that kind of disappoints me if you would actually go and turn someones internet off. What if capsfan has a brother doing a research project and lives far from a library? Cmon man, theres no need to go there, just ban him from PHL if you have to go to those measures.

In order to have someone's ISP actually worry, they would need to be harassing us over a period of time after we banned them.

Also the same counter-measures that FC and GOAT have in place (I'm pretty sure) are the ones that we have in place.

From talking to firecrotch he said they're different than PHL will be doing/sphb had done previously(for next season).
