Equius the Pikachu

Jordan stretched as he walked towards the tar pits with Nick, his team member. He glanced over at the tar pits. They were really funny to watch. Bubbles were formed from the rising hot air and they popped with a silly sound, splattering hot tar all over the place. Really, he didn't know why they had come here, but Nick had wanted to, so yeah. Also, he supposed there could be cool time things down here. Maybe. After all, it did contain a lot of history didn't it?

Didn't matter. He looked over at the pits. Bubble.

Pop.

Splatter.

Awesome.

"So, I think, there was supposed to be one of those time rift thingies here?" Nicholas looked towards the tar pits, squinting and cursing himself for not bringing his glasses. "So, uh, if you see that, uh, rift. Let me know. I'm looking for an Aerodactyl, too, so if you see one of those, let me know."

Nicholas, of course, didn't realize how potentially rude he was being. His tone implied that he expected to be respected and listened to, like he wasn't just the same rank as Jordan was. His eyes narrowed as he watched the tar. "I hope the rift isn't actually in the tar. That'd be gross."

"Uh, okay." Jordan said, shaking his head. Luckily for Nicholas, he was a very nice person a PACIFIST even, or else he would have been punched in the face for being so endlessly rude right there. Of course, Jordan wasn't able to hit very hard, so it probably wouldn't have mattered anyways. Although, his team member did seem a little, eh, fragile? Yeah, lets go with that.

"What does a time rift even look like?" He asked after a few more minutes of staring at the tar pits. He'd just then realized that he had absolutely no idea what in the world they were looking for. "Eh, you know what, let's just get you that Aerodactly first. This sounds like it will be the easier thing to do..." He frowned. He'd been rather pumped to find his first time rift, though he hadn't expected it to be this hard!

Nicholas rolled his eyes. "A time rift obviously looks like... uh, well... I don't... actually know. I guess we'll know when we see one!" He shrugged, still watching the tar pits for signs of rifts or giant skeleton pterodactyls. "It doesn't seem like there's many places for big pokemon or time rifts to hide around here! Unless Aerodactyls can live down in the tar... but that doesn't seem very likely."

He squinted his eyes more. "Ugh, it's too fucking bright for me to be able to see anything. You don't happen to have any sunglasses or anything, do you?"

"Sunglasses? Uh, duh do jour." He said, reaching into his pocket - his right one to be exact(he kept spare stuff in his right pants pocket) - and pulled out a pair of dark black shades. What kind of guy left home without his shades?! They totally brought out a guy's eyes. Shaking his head, he tossed them to Nick. "Freakin' love shades." He grinned, then pulled his own pair out of his left pocket. The only real difference between the two pairs was that his had a couple of scratches, and the spare pair was new. Ironic, huh? Needless to say, he flipped the shades open and pushed 'em up onto his head, and to his eyes. Done and done. No glares any more, but it was still a little hard to see what they were looking for.

"... Thanks." Nicholas found it a bit odd that his teammate carried around two pairs of sunglasses with him, but he didn't think he should question it since it would save his eyes from the glare. He put the sunglasses on before continuing to look for time rifts and Aerodactyls! He didn't think either would be so hard to find; weren't they both rather large?

A large area of tar bubbling caught Nicholas' eye and he stopped to watch it. It was, of course, normal for the tar to bubble, but this particular area had a very large bubble - at least five feet across. "Hey, look at that bubble. " He walked closer to the edge of the pit, crouching down to get closer to it. "I'd poke it if I didn't think tar would get on me."

"... I'll poke it." Jordan said, walking over. He grabbed a stick, because he wanted to be a few feet away when this thing went 'boom,' and backed up a bit, then looked at Nicholas, tipping his sunglasses down a bit. "You ready? This is going to be a very intense moment. Quite the brofist one." He turned back to the bubble, and slowly began to push his stick towards it, slow and steady now, slow and steady...

Nicholas clambered away from the tar pit and the large bubble, ending up a good six feet away from it now. "Yeah, pop it when you're ready. And be careful, there might be something dangerous in there." He crossed his arms over his chest while he waited for Jordan to pop the bubble. He sure was taking his sweet time.

Enough of this slowness. STAB! He jabbed out with his stick and the bubble exploded with a loud pop and tar flew all over the place. A lot of it landed on Jordan, but luckily it wasn't nearly as hot as he had expected it to be. It was only lukewarm, or else he would have died. It still wasn't comfortable and the stuff got on his sunglasses. Which wasn't cool. Also it was drying and he could feel it. Oh god he hoped none of it was on his teeth. ohgodohgodohgod. That would take so much tooth brushing....

He peered into where the bubble had been and jumped backwards, "Holy fucking shit! Aerodactyl int bubble!"

When the tar bubble popped, Nicholas was glad that he had decided to stand so far away from it. None of it had splashed onto him.

When Jordan shouted about what had been in the tar bubble, he was even more glad about how far back he was standing. Aerodactyls are scary. This one especially, seeing as it hovered in the air and roared loudly.

Of course, he realized he had wanted to capture one, so he grabbed one of the pokeballs off his belt. He pressed the button on the front twice; once to enlarge the ball and the second time to release the Pokemon. In a beam of red light his new Desumasu materialized. He hoped the Aerodactyl wouldn't be too tough for the ghost's first battle.

"Alright, let's do this! Astonish!" Desumasu floated towards the fossil Pokemon, flailing his arms wildly while screaming at it. The Aerodactyl was startled, of course finding the smaller Pokemon a bit insane. When the ghost got close enough he pummeled the pterodactyl with his fists.

Fortunately for the Aerodactyl, it was much bigger and stronger. When Desumasu backed off, it flew towards him, flapping its large wings at the smaller Pokemon and striking it. He was hit with one wing and then the other in succession until the flying Pokemon felt that he was properly beat up. It flew back to the edge of the tar pit, hovering barely above the bubbling tar.

"Desumasu, night shade!" The ghost nodded as he regained his balance, concentrating on an area in front of the Aerodactyl. It watched in amusement before noticing, suddenly, a pile of delicious berries on the ground! It dove down towards them to eat them, but instead just flew right through them. It glanced back, confused, while Desumasu took this opportunity to attack it from behind. He started to pummel it with his fists again, though now he was attacking it with its own strength.

The Aerodactyl ducked out of the way after a few hits. The ghost had struck its wings good, making it harder for the fossil Pokemon to fly. Flying at its new, slower pace, it flew back towards its opponent with its jaws wide open. It swooped low and bit down on the smaller Pokemon's left arm, breaking through his skin with its rows of sharp teeth. When it finally let go merely seconds later, Desumasu's arm appeared to be quite mangled.

Nicholas winced, considering recalling the poor ghost and letting his Arcanine finish the foe off. "No, no... use will-o-wisp!" Being careful with his broken arm, Desumasu opened his mouth and blew out a bright blue flame. With its injured wings, the Aerodactyl couldn't escape from the path of the flame. It scorched the fossil Pokemon's skin, though it wasn't quite out for the count yet.

Using all the power it had left, it attacked. Desumasu didn't see it coming, but when a few high pitched sound waves hit his ears, he fell backwards, passing out. The Aerodactyl was near fainting; Nicholas knew this was his chance and yanked a new pokeball off of his belt. He tossed it at the flying Pokemon.

A beam of red light came from the pokeball and enveloped the fossil Pokemon. The ball fell to the ground, gently rocking from side to side and emitting a loud beeping. After three rocks and three beeps, the ball clicked. Upon seeing that the Aerodactyl was caught, he recalled his Desumasu.

Nicholas grinned, walking over to collect his new Pokemon. He clicked it onto his belt beside the other three. He looked over to Jordan, hoping his teammate was impressed.
