It was noon-day when Jaden pulled off to the side of the road, but with the sickly haze in the atmosphere, it felt more like perpetual dusk. Fuschia lay on the horizon. He said nothing as his passenger dismounted with a slight grunt and continued the silence until he cut off the motorcycle's engine. The Elite then turned to the Hero. Silence hung between them and Jaden found it odd that not even the wind was there to break it. They stayed that way for what must have been minutes, boring holes into each other's eye sockets and testing to see who would speak first, for neither had since they left five hours prior. It was Jaden who went first.

"So are you going to shoot me or not, Hero?" He spat the title and felt a grin on his face as she scowled. Her reply was a very typical, very cliché, "I should be asking you the same thing, Elite." It made him shake his head and stare off into the distance.

"I coulda left you out there," he reminded her, shifting the topic.

"I know."

"Coulda smiled and walked off while the buzzards came down to peck at your eyes."

"I'm sure you've done that to plenty of other innocent people."

"Not many, actually. You know how Nightmare works."

"Right, right. No survivors."

"Nope. Not a goddamn thing left."

She followed his gaze to the city in the distance and sighed. "Any plans for Fuschia?" He laughed, which made her scowl again. "What do you think? This is the biggest fuckin' Hope settlement in Kanto, what dumbass wouldn't have plans for it?" Point taken.

"Of course we do," Jaden went on, "and we've already caught two of your rats trying to sniff them out. Everyone knows we have plans. You just don't know when they'll go into effect."

"What if I wanted to know when they go into effect?" she asked, advancing on him. In a swift, fluid motion, she had him stuck against the side of the motorcycle with his pistol pressed to his chin. It infuriated her that he didn't even flinch. Bastard.

"Then you'd be shit out of luck, my dear, because Blood Raven has yet to share that information with me." With an asscrack grin on his face, the Elite kicked Delilah Jones in her broken shin and took his gun back. "Besides, everyone loves surprises."

Delilah staggered away from Jaden a step, leaning down to grip her now-throbbing shin, glaring up at him. He, of course, had that stupid grin that she hated so much, but she couldn't really do anything about it. Even if she had a weapon on her, she wouldn't have shot him anyway. They had a strange relationship, where they wanted to kill each other, but couldn't.

"I've never been fond of surprises," she muttered, leaning onto her good leg and straightening up again. The scientist turned and looked at Fuchsia once more. It was true, they expected the YnK to do something, though what exactly they were planning no one was sure of. Being a spy within the organization was a very difficult and extremely dangerous job.

Whatever the case, they still had a little bit of time. If Blood Raven hadn't even told the Elites like Jaden yet, then they probably wouldn't be ready for a while. Meanwhile, the KnS of Fuchsia were working hard to be prepared for an inevitable YnK attack.

Delilah's eyes shifted back over to Jaden. Even if she didn't want to admit it, he had saved her life back there, something that wouldn't fly well with the higher ups. She already owed him for something else, she didn't like owing him for this too.

||I'll do a little BR introspection until I can figure out what else I can do with her.

"Ten-ten, ten-teeeeen!"

"What."

"Why don't you play with us?" You glared at the three young children standing in front of you. Well, they weren't younger than YOU. In fact, they were about the same age. You guessed you were all around the age of seven. There were two boys and one girl, the latter of which looked quite similar to you. The tanned boy with red eyes shuffled closer to your twin, a faint blush coating his cheeks.

The boy with brown eyes and spiky black hair grinned. "Yeah, why don't cha! You're always experimenting and stuff, and it's booooring."

Your mouth formed a tight line. "That's 'cause you don't understand it."

"Not true!" the brown-eyed one retorted, stomping his foot for emphasis. "C'mon, I dare you to ask me anything!"

The other boy smirked. "Then explain to us what Deoxyribose nucleic acid is, Satoshi."

"Huhwuzzahnow?"

The other girl spoke up, though her voice was barely audible. "Um, that's DNA right?" Her unsure golden eyes searched the tanned boy's and yours for confirmation. Both of you nodded at the same time at the same slow pace. A tiny smile bloomed on the girl's face, making you sneer. You knew you were far superior in intellect to her, but the boy with the red eyes never looked at you with fondness.

Pfft. She'd see yet.

"Not in the mood," you muttered, crossing your arms over your chest. "I have better things to do."

The Idiot snickered, "You mean stay locked up at your house all day working with stupid experiments?"

At that you socked him in the face. The other boy's smirk grew while your twin's hands came to rest against her mouth in shock. Still fuming, you left the Idiot sprawled out on the ground with a black eye.

You didn't see the red eyes staring back at you in concern.

Sixteen years later, Blood Raven found herself at the top of the world. And where were the other three? Let's see... the Idiot was planning something in Fuchsia, something that she was going to stop quite soon. Keiichi joined the Idiot a long, long time ago. As for Kiseki, well.

She was dead.

A smirk played upon the Elite's ruby lips as she sat upon her Ho-Oh's back. The great phoenix was making its way to Fuchsia, where her troops had boxed the KnS inside. It was only a matter of time, now.

Jaden watched the woman get her bearings and smirked. "Killjoy."

As he waited for her to steady herself, he thumbed out a cigarette and opened his mouth to say something annoying. But just as the bullshit was about to fly, the Poké Ball in his pocket rattled. Odd. What had Nightmare excited?

His expression was one of thinly veiled concern as he turned from Delilah and revealed the dark ball. It was rocking violently from side to side before he even had it out in the open, spewing some inky black smoke that reeked of chaos. Something had her worked up suddenly, and before he even had the chance to reach out with his thoughts, she threw the weight of hers against his and Delilah's, sounding petulant as she informed them briefly of the presence of another Legend. The onslaught of angry thoughts in the background was absent, he noted. Perhaps her period of mental clarity was lasting a little longer this time.

"Which one?" Jaden asked. He lifted his gaze to survey the area, hoping to find a clue of some sort. In the sky behind Delilah, he didn't just find a clue, he saw-

Ho-Oh. It would seem that the Mistress has moved the siege to an earlier date, otherwise that old phoenix wouldn't be anywhere near here.

Oh holy shit what.

Had you not been lollygagging about you probably would have been notified of the change.

It was literally as if someone were pressing pure, unprocessed smugness against his brain in the form of a smirk. Goddamnit.

"Well then," the Elite began to Delilah, "there's your information."

Apprehension clawed at his stomach, though. Ho-Oh was but a shimmering dot far, far away, but that didn't mean he was numb to the presence of a fellow Legend. Jaden couldn't compromise himself being seen with a Hopeful scientist. Shit. He'd have to ditch her.

Delilah turned back towards Fuchsia, trying to ignore Jaden's annoying smugness. From where she stood, she couldn't see much activity going on. She could still see him out of the corner of her eye, however, and saw him pull out a cigarette. Damn, it had been a few days since she had last had one. The scientist thought about the packs she had stashed away in her room, even more eager to get back to Fuchsia than she was before.

Nightmare's voice, however, quickly distracted her from her thoughts, nearly causing her to jump out of her skin. If there was anything Delilah hated more than Jaden, it was probably that overgrown lizard. The news wasn't much better.

The woman whipped around and, sure enough, the damned overgrown chicken could be seen in the distance. Great.

Delilah turned back to Jaden, shooting him a glare. She was fairly sure that the Ho-Oh, which was already heading in their general direction, would notice Nightmare, and probably notice them as well. Jaden would no doubt be useless, so she'd have to try to find some sort of cover until it passed. Running wasn't exactly an option at the moment.

Trust was quite a fragile thing. Keiichi knew that for a fact. There were few whom he could really trust these days, and it was partially his fault. The Pharaoh leaned against a door frame, crossing his arms over his chest. He wore a lavender-colored silk shirt and khakis, both of which were much more comfortable than the leather he was forced to wear when he was the active leader of the Gale of Darkness.

"You've changed, Shi," Keiichi commented to the man waiting inside. The pharaoh turned worried crimson eyes to the back of the trainer. The younger man stared at his reflection in a tall oblong mirror.

There was a period of silence before the twenty-one-year-old replied. "Is that an insult or a compliment, Keii?" The voice which spoke these words was filled with longing and exhaustion. The Pharaoh frowned at this; Shinyuu was obviously tired. Although his feet were planted firmly on the floor, his form slouched forward, and slightly shaking arms - so minute that only beings that knew him would really notice - grasped the edges of the dresser.

The leader of the KnS frowned as well, still staring at his reflection. He didn't know whether he liked the man he became or not. One half of him agreed that he had become such a responsible, courageous trainer. The other half disagreed wholeheartedly, saying that he was still a young child and merely put all of this Legend stuff together as a facade. The leader was still very confused on who he was, but now wasn't the time to truly worry about that.

"Would you like me to be completely honest?" Keiichi asked.

"If you don't mind," Shinyuu replied, turning around. At this the former leader of the YnK walked over to the Legend. Keiichi used a gentle hand to guide the KnS champion over to the bed. He settled them both down.

"To be completely honest, Shi, a bit of both," Keiichi began. He locked gazes with the boy. "Ever since the incident in Lavender all of those years ago, you haven't been the carefree trainer that I remem-"

"Don't bring it up." The response was curt and final. "Everyone has to grow up someday."

Keiichi snorted. "Grow up? I would hardly call it that." He paused for a moment. "No, not at all." He turned his attention to a small yellow creature sitting upon the dresser. "Pika, would you kindly bring that box over there to me?"

The Pikachu bobbed his head up and down as he did the task. As Keiichi opened the rectangular piece, a forlorn piece of music began to play. It was the melody of Lugia, a song long etched into the mind of the Legend. Inside were six Pokeballs, five filled with the only creatures he had left. Keiichi carefully strapped the spherical devices securely onto Shinyuu's belt before pulling his long coat over them; he wouldn't be surprised if people or Pokemon were to try and steal them again.

After all, they WERE the only Innocents of his left.

There was only one other thing in there. With as much care as he could, the Legend pulled out a long golden chain with two dangling 'charms' on the closed end. The first was a golden ring with an aquamarine encrusted into the intricate wave design of the jewelry. The second was a small locket, shaped as a small heart. Lightning bolts littered the metal, engraved every-which-way. He played with the piece of jewelry absentmindedly before the silence (the music box ended a few moments before) overtook him and shoved him out of his thoughts. No words were spoken as the KnS leader slipped the chain around his untamable black locks. He pressed a kiss to the two trinkets before slipping them underneath his black shirt. "Kasumi... I will make sure to avenge you today."

Keiichi shook his head. "You must realize that revenge isn't the answer."

Accusing carmine eyes glared at the Pharaoh. "Isn't that what you're after?"

The man sighed and closed his eyes. The crimson orbs then reopened to stare at the ceiling. "Perhaps, at one time." A hollow laugh followed, sending shivers down Shinyuu's spine. Without another word Keiichi took off his cape and ripped the end. He used the cloth to tightly bind Shinyuu's knee. "This is the least that I can do for the damage I have caused."

Shinyuu didn't meet his gaze. "This wasn't your fault."

Keiichi snorted, getting up. He answered with his back to the Legend. "You honestly expect me to believe that? I call bullshit." He looked over his shoulder, the emotions swirling in his crimson pools unreadable. "Stop wallowing and get ready. You're all they have left." He walked out of the room.

"All they have left, huh..."

Jaden allowed himself to relax for a moment, shrugging paranoia off under the assumption that Blood Raven had much more important duties to attend to than to check up on an Elite who was slightly tardy to the party. For all she knew he was up to date, briefed, and ready to start some chaos- which he was. The only problem was figuring out what to do with Delilah. Leaving her here seemed like a swell plan, but he wasn't about to leave her unattended with his motorcycle. Hell no. He wouldn't dump her off at the gates of Fuchsia either, because the gates of Fuchsia were all blockaded by the Yami no Kaze.

And though funny enough as the thought was he really couldn't just set her down in the center of the city and take aim. No, if she was going to die, it was going to be on his terms and vice versa. No one else's.

He watched the dull sparkle that was Ho-Oh slide across the sky towards the northern side of Fuchsia and sighed. "Well, getting into Fuchsia is definitely not going to happen so you can forget that. You're better off limping away in the opposite direction at this point. Heh."

Though the smirk suggested otherwise, he was very aware of the damage that would befall the cure research in the siege, but the thought only gleaned the tiniest infinitesimal speck of genuine concern out of him, which was dismissed immediately.

Jaden glanced back down at Nightmare's Poké Ball and placed it back in his pocket, for the dragon had receded into her thoughts to brood. That was all she ever did nowadays. It made him feel strangely useless, of all things.

Delilah only allowed a small glare at him before turning back to Fuchsia. She couldn't help but feel worried, if only really for her lost researched. Sure, she kept most of the results memorized -- that was the safest way, after all, and she trusted herself not to forget them -- but if Fuchsia couldn't hold against the Yami no Kaze, which was already quite doubtful, then she would have lost everything. It would take time to get all of her materials back together, too much time.

Hopefully, they were preparing for this. Maybe, with a lot of luck, they could keep the YnK back. Still, Delilah was less than optimistic about the results of the looming battle. Well, that was their problem now, she had to worry about getting herself away, and where to go. She couldn't exactly wander around with no supplies, no food, and no real means of defending herself.

"Shouldn't you go join the rest of them?" Delilah turned back to Jaden. Obviously, since he was an Elite, he'd have to be there.

~*~x~*~

In the skies overhead, a lone Drifblim floated along idly, taking its sweet time heading towards Fuchsia. There was no real hurry, the troops were just assembling around the city, blockading the Kibou no Senshi. There was no way to leave it now, they would just have to stay and fight. And of course they would fight, in a feeble attempt to drive back the YnK's forces. And of course they would lose.

Ashton was in a surprisingly good mood that day. She was hanging just below the Drifblim, sitting in the ribbing-like appendages like a swing, her hands grasping two of them. The girl's legs dangled below, and she swung them a little, looking down at the ground below. There wasn't much to see, but she enjoyed seeing how small everything looked from up above.

The Minion was about to glance back up at Fuchsia, the destination, when something caught her eye. Two people were standing between where she was, and the city. And they both looked familiar. Her brown eyes squinted, and she leaned forward, her Pokemon wrapping one of its ribbons around her mid section, keeping her from falling forward.

"Are those two who I think they are?" she asked, though didn't really expect a response from the Pokemon, who gave none. As the neared the trainers, a grin began to spread across her face. "It is! Of all places, of all times!"

Ashton almost seemed giddy with joy, leaning back and laughing a little to herself. Of course, she had already found out Jaden's little secret when he had rescued that KnS scientist, but she had yet to tell Blood Raven. They were busy preparing for the siege, and besides, it wasn't a good idea to make such accusations against an Elite without some sort of proof.

This, however, was all the proof she needed.

The Minion's head whipped around until she finally saw what she was looking for. Grinning, the girl turned her Pokemon towards the Ho-Oh, urging it forward at full speed.

"Miiistress~!" she called out, still grinning, as the neared the phoenix.

Drifbims bothered her. Ghost Pokémon in general bothered her, but it wasn't like Blood Raven would tell anyone that. The Elite rolled her eyes at the Minion, though Ashton was one of her favorites. The girl would be an Elite, too, if there wasn't a shred of goodness in her. Unfortunately for Blood Raven, the Elite had a feeling that if Ashton was exposed to the Idiot for a long enough time, she'd become a Warrior.

Oh well, so sad, moving on.

Ho-Oh beat its great wings until it ended up next to the Drifblim, which didn't take long. It couldn't wait to burn the last city in the region to the ground, but it had to wait. The Mistress' word was law, after all.

"What," Blood Raven spat. "This better be good."
