So I got bored while looking for some topic to post in, but couldn't find one. Then I looked at the little menu below the site banner. I saw "FAQ" and clicked on it for the first time ever. After that, I was something about groups.

What I saw was:

Joinable Groups

A joinable group is a group which any individual member may join, but are separate from member groups.

Types of Joinable Groups
There are three types of joinable groups:

Open to all Members - This means that any user can join the group without restriction.
Leader Approval Required - This means that users will have to be approved by one of the group's leaders before becoming a member.
Invitation Required - This means that no user will be able to join without first being invited by an existing user.
Joining a Group
To join a joinable group, follow these steps:

At the top of the forum, click the Preferences button.
In the Profile Options menu, select Joinable Groups.
If there are any groups available to join, they will be displayed in the Joinable Groups table.
If you see a group that you would like to be a member of, select Join Group or Request Approval, depending on whether leader approval is required. If the group you are trying to join is by invitation only, try contacting one of the group's leaders, which can be found by clicking View Members & Leaders in the group's column.
Leaving a Joinable Group
If for some reason you wish to leave a group that you previously joined, follow these steps:

At the top of the forum, click the Preferences button.
In the Profile Options menu, select Joinable Groups.
Locate the row of the group that you wish to leave, and select Leave Group.

I vaguely remember this, and so I was wondering, is this still happening? I couldn't find the so-called "preferences" button anywhere, so I'm guessing the whole idea died out or is still being worked on...

Yes, I've seen this a lot.

It came with the forum, however, we never use it.]

Maybe it'd be cool to actually give it a try or something, but everybody has to agree.

Yeah its just a feature that we have that we don't really use. We've tried before but it never really works out.

Ah, well I'm sorry to hear that. If our forumgoers suddenly decide to get more active, maybe we can all help out with it sometime.
