Alex's new Chimchar hadn't been confined to it's pokeball for very long, having been let out soon after his trainer had settled into his room on the ship heading to Alcyone. Ironically, it was the same ship that he had taken to get to Atlas in the first place, and only three doors removed from the same room as well. During the trek from one city to the other, Alex and the chimp took a bit of time to get comfortable with each other, despite the rather closed quarters provided. Over the course of the three or four hour cruise, the pokemon had adopted the name of Leikki. Even before Alex had set out to begin his adventure, he had decided that any pokemon he would be lucky enough to capture would be given a name that corresponded with their primary type. Seeing as he had read somewhere that 'Leikki' was translated from some other language as 'Flame', that was the immediate choice, and the pokemon seemed okay with it. Time seemed to pass quickly, and before he even realized that enough had passed, the captain was coming over the intercom announcing the ship's arrival in Alcyone Port. Seeing as he really didn't have anything with him but his one pokemon and the duffel bag, he was one of the first people to get off the ship when he was able, Leikki perched up on his shoulder to keep from having to dodge the feet and hands of others. Even though he was happy to be home, even for such a short time, Alex decided against dropping by to pay his mother a visit, knowing that she was doing okay, especially since she had the family Aipom there to help care for the home. Instead, he opted to instead take a slight detour to pick up something to eat for himself and his chimp. An hour passed. Alex found himself standing at the city limits, looking out over Dewdrop Meadow. This would mark the first time that he had ever travelled from his hometown in this direction. He obviously had no real idea what to expect, but he somehow had a feeling that he would be okay. As seemed to be the norm for him today, his hands closed around the shoulder strap of his bag, and before he could talk himself out of it, he started to walk down the path out of the city. The further he walked, the more he realized that he was unable to take his eyes off of his surroundings. Everything looked beautiful to him, peaceful. He couldn't believe that he had been living so close to an amazing looking location, yet hadn't bothered to explore and find it. Though he chalked that up to being stuck at home most of the time to work at the house while his father was out of town. The air smelled so fresh and clean, and even the leaves of grass felt nice as they grazed across his shins and calves. Excited to be out and about, Leikki had hopped down off of his trainer's shoulders and had begun to wander as well, looking at anything and everything that caught the pokemon's eye. |

Wild Encounter It was another day in the life of this particular Pokemon. Dewdrop Meadow was, more or less, its hunting ground - and the early bird gets the worm. Walking among the tall grass with ease, it would stop every now and then to peck at the ground in its hunt for small insects to call its meal. Finding that there were no potential meals in this part of the meadow, it turned toward another direction and continued its search. Eventually, movement among the tall grass prompted it to spread its wings and flap them rapidly - in an attempt to flush out its meal. While it did manage to knock a few small bugs out of the grass, it also kicked up quite a bit of dirt. Before it could let its meal get away, the Pokemon quickly glided over and made quick work of the bugs. When it finished, it looked up again to begin its search anew but was quick to notice something that wasn’t normal around these parts - something that resembled a tongue of flame. Wild Pidgey { Level 2 } appears. |

Alex continued to wander the meadow, his pokemon - while never leaving line of sight - persisted in it's mini-adventure of examining practically everything that moved. For what it was worth, Leikki was having just a grand ol' time, it's eyes shining as it looked at everything for practically the first time, since the assistants at the lab hadn't actually taken him from the lab and that holding area very often. At this point, there wasn't really anything in particular that was holding his attention, content on just looking at anything that caught it's eye. But as it was turning to exclaim it's excitement to it's trainer, sudden movement flashed through it's periferal vision to the right, and it's eyes swivelled around just in time to see the rustling of grass and a blur of what appeared to be insects trying to escape... something. "Chi..." It breathed quietly, turning and making it's way over to ground zero. What it eventually saw was a bird pokemon feasting on some kind of bug, and it wasn't exactly certain what to make of it. Remembering what it saw one of the charmanders do back in the lab, the chimp started to sneak closer toward the bird, it's tail slowly raising up above it's head, the flame at the tip swaying back and forth. It was a method of intimidation that it recalled was typically used by one of the Charmander just before two of them would begin a play-fight, and the Chimchar was using such a tactic now. It's mindset was simple: 'something new that I bet I could take in a fight'. It didn't take long for Alex to notice these goings-on, and he made his way over to the pair of critters, curious of what his own was about to do, and the bird's reaction to it. Remembering the contents of his bag, the trainer reached in and grabbed the Pokedex, then aimed it at the Pidgey, letting it's data register in the device before returning it to it's place in the duffel. ~~~~~ Chimchar <20/20> Pidgey <14/14> Edited by Izzysix, Jul 31 2011, 07:12 PM.

The tiny bird watched with intrigue as the flame that had caught its eye began to move closer. It tilted his head in confusion as the flame bounced forward. Suddenly, the full form of the Pokemon that the flame was attached to emerged from the grass, causing the Pidgey to squawk with alarm. Out of instinct to defend itself, the Pidgey flapped its small wings threateningly, whipping up a tiny bit of sand at the Chimchar. Not quite a Sand-attack, but enough to hopefully cause the primate to turn tail and flee.![]() Pidgey Lv2 [14/14] {Standing its ground} vs ![]() Chimchar Lv5 [20/20] |

Riled by the sight of the puff of sand that the bird sent up at it, the Chimchar let out an exclaimation of excitement. In it's mind, this back and forth between the pair was all just a game. Dancing around the sand, it started to jump a little in place, occasionally twirling a 360, it's hands clenched into tiny fists and raised over it's head. "Char. Char. Chiiim!" It chanted a couple times, as if taunting the Pidgey. Alex's eyebrow raised slightly at this, and he decided that he would entertain the chimp, as it seemed to be about as ready to engage the bird as it could be at this point. "I don't think your intimidation is working, Leikki," he said with a bit of a chuckle. "Try throwing a little leering into the mix. You look too happy." Hearing this, the primate stopped it's consistant jumping, it's hands still raised and clenched. Instead of moving it's entire body, it continued to sway the tip of it's tail back and forth. For just a second, it almost seemed as if the flame at the tip of it's tail intensified a little before dying back down to normal. It's eyes narrowing just slightly as it's gaze locked with that of the fowl, attempting to give the impression that it was the superior of the two. "Chaaar~!" The Pidgey's eyes narrowed as the chimp danced around. Its intense gaze scrutinized the Chimchar, unsure of its intentions. The Pidgey folded its wings and watched as the Chimchar leered. This action seemed to frighten the bird, and it decided that this Pokemon was indeed a foe. Thinking quickly, and maybe a bit rashly, the Pidgey charged forward, its wings tucked in and head lowered. In a second, the bird had crashed its body into the Chimchar, delivering a significant blow. And just as quickly as it had charged, the Pidgey retreated, now standing a few feet from the chimp, watching closely in anticipation of its next move.![]() Pidgey Lv2 [14/14] |Defense -1| ![]() Chimchar Lv5 [17/20] |

"Ch-!" The primate watched as the bird charged forward, and was in the process of letting out almost a mock battle cry before the Pidgey's head collided with it's chest, knocking the remainder of the exclaimation out of mind as the Chimchar was pushed backward by the impact. Now having much more fun that it had expected, as the Charmander in the holding cells had typically held back during their scuffles with it, the chimp once more began hopping in place from one foot to the next. 'Look at him,' Alex thought as he watched the two pokemon, gazing at his own partner. 'It almost looks like that attack barely scratched him.' At that thought, the teen nodded. "Don't just stand there and take it, Leikki," he said to his pokemon while pointing across to the Pidgey, which had landed a few paces away. "Get in there and give it a good scratching." Not needing to be told twice, the Chimchar leaped forward, having been looking forward to this moment practically since the two critters had met. Recognizing that the bird could rather easily dodge upward with it's wings, the primate opted instead to jump up and attack the Pidgey from above, giving it fewer options of escape. (In the future, just know that only mods can say how much damage is dealt, and if the move even connects. I've edited your post for you. Since you took the effort to describe the action, though, I'm just pasting some of your post here.) By the time Leikki had closed the distance, it was practically directly over the tiny bird pokemon. Showing flexibility that only a monkey could enjoy, it spun around and brought it's hands down flat against the bird's back, dragging it's nails straight down the body as much as it could before landing behind it's target, taking but a moment to right itself and prepare for any retaliation the bird could provide. The tiny bird hobbled forward, obviously in pain. Its injuries were severe, and it considered fleeing. However, it realized that in its condition it probably wouldn't be able to outrun the chimp. Knowing this, it quickly lunged forward, attempting another Tackle attack. But it was too slow and too hurt, and the Chimchar cartwheeled agilely out of the way. ![]() Pidgey Lv2 [6/14] |Defense -1| vs ![]() Leikki Lv5 [17/20] |

((My bad.)) Alex watched as the Pidgey attempted a fresh attack, and smiled a little to himself when the primate dodged it easily. He could tell that the bird didn't have all that much left in the tank, and decided at that time that a pokemon that could succumb to injuries as easily as this one was would take a large amount of patience to try to help grow stronger. More than he was, at this point in his adventure, willing to provide. With his mind set on not capturing the Pidgey, Alex shot his gaze to the Chimchar. "Quick, Leikki. Before it can get it's footing. Scratch it again and finish it off." The primate was on the move almost before it's trainer could finish saying the command, swinging it's nails once more in the Pidgey's direction. The motion was accompanied by what could only be described as a victory cry, the Chimchar feeling rather confident that it had the fight won. (No worries!) As soon as the Pidgey regained its composure, Leikki was right on top of it again. Another well-aimed Scratch was all it took to knock the tiny bird out. After hobbling forward a few steps, it let out a cry of defeat. The bird then collapsed from exhaustion, wings outspread on the grassy floor. Victory belonged to the trainer and his Chimchar.
