There are a few gameplay changes to take note of, namely due to the limitations of PO. -After each battle, all of your pokémon will have their HP restored and status ailments removed, unless fainted. To compensate for this, the game is going to have a much higher difficulty curve than the regular games. Fuck yeah. -Items can no longer be used during battle. This combined with the above change means that all potion types and status restoration items no longer exist. Revives still exist, however, as fainted pokémon will remain so until a game over or a visit to the Pokémon Center otherwise. -You only get one chance to throw a pokéball at a wild pokémon. If it escapes capture, it will flee (exception: Safari Areas). To show that you are throwing a pokéball, type /throw pokéball in the PO side chat during a battle with a wild pokémon. Shortly after you will be informed if you caught the pokemon or not. Please specify which type of ball you are throwing. ex: if throwing an Ultra ball, type /throw ultra ball. -Experience will be done on a 100 point Fire Emblem Scale. This means that every 100 EXP, your pokémon will gain a level. However with every level gained getting experience becomes far more difficult. It scales pretty accurately to the actual games in the end, so don't worry. -Happiness has been removed from the game. In the stats sheet, happiness should always be listed as 255. All evolutions dependent on happiness have been changed. (See the evolution topic for details) -While trading is still certainly available, evolutions dependent upon trade have been changed. This is to prevent a player from acquiring a potentially overpowered pokémon early on in the game. (See the evolution topic for details) -When the game is released, a play session schedule will be made to determine who takes what time each week. Play sessions and scheduled times where you advance further into the game. I can only keep track of one person at a time, so only one session may occur at any given time, lasting roughly 90 minutes.* Players will be able to pick 3 play sessions of their choice a week*, on any day and time I'm available (unavailable days will be specified). Sometimes the amount of sessions each week will vary depending on my availability. A play session ends either after the allotted time, or at a Game Over. -A Game Over is what happens when all of your pokémon faint against an NPC (not another player). You will not lose any money to NPCs, but your play session for the day will end, regardless of how much time you had left. In your next play session, you will start in the town you last visited, with all of your pokémon fully healed. On the other hand, losing to another player will not cause the end of a session, but you will lose some money. -Each play session will be a new season. The first session will be spring, the second summer, the third autumn, the fourth winter, and the fifth spring again, and so on. Seasons will change what pokémon you will be able to encounter in the wild. Also, halfway through each play session (roughly 45 minutes)*, it will change from day to night, further changing what wild pokémon you will be able to find. -Be patient. I have to punch in a lot of data for each wild encounter/trainer battle. It only takes approximately a minute for each pokémon, so it's still pretty quick. That being said, you also need to be competent at figuring out how to use PO. I cannot stress this enough. It's not that hard, make an effort to learn it before the project is released. -MAKE SURE TO BE DILIGENT IN UPDATING YOUR PO FILES. Also I should note we're using the honor system here. Punch in your stats honestly. Remember when you change species (ex: through evolution), the stats reset. Be sure to punch in all data (Name, Gender, Nature, Item, IV/DVs, EVs, moves, ability) properly. If I have reason to believe you are cheating, you will be suspended. Repeated offenses may warrant a ban. -There's going to be a daily PvP system that allows you to battle other players a limited amount of times a day for special tokens that can be cashed in for certain rewards. The details will be posted at a later date, when its development is finished. (*= Subject to Change) Edited by Green, Feb 18 2011, 11:40 PM.
