Okay, going to set some rules for the debate forum. The most basic rule is not to flame. While it's okay not to agree with someone in their beliefs or opinion, it's not okay to attack them for it. Respect their opinions just like you should respect mah authoritah. Don't carry any arguments from here into another board (such as General). Don't attack the user by PM either, unless you actually are trying to continue the debate in private. Flaming through PMs is still reason enough for a temporary ban. Next, don't spam or derail any threads. Don't post saying you agree with someone or don't, say why you agree or disagree, and your personal views on the matter, and possibly logical reasons to why something did or did not happen, or whatever you're debating. Don't make any junk posts, this is a serious forum. No discriminating against other people either. Be it on race, religion, gender, sexual preference, or whatever. It's okay to disagree with a religion, but don't attack people for their beliefs in said religion. Yes, the forum can be used to rant, but don't pull a Hitler and blame all of the worlds problems on a religious group. Well, you could, but at least have a good standpoint and good reasoning. Believe it or not, spelling words correctly and using proper grammar does show a lot about you. A minor misspelling or grammatical error doesn't mean anything, but typing like a hyper kitten walking over a keyboard isn't getting you anywhere. This isn't a chatroom where you race to see who can type the fastest, it's a place to hold serious discussions. Nobody will take you seriously if you don't take the time and effort to make your posts legible. The next point would be emoticons. You're not emo are you? Then don't abuse them. Okay, that was rather stupid but honestly, abusing those little yellow smiling faces does nothing but make you look stupid. Using an occasional smily after a paragraph or two is acceptable and actually sometimes helps get your point across depending on the situation, but putting a barrage of yellow after every sentence won't do anything but get your posting suspended. Quoting other members is a good way to give them credit for their ideas. If you like what they said, or wish to criticize their opinion, simply click on the quote button beside their post, and either skip ahead to or bold what you wish to comment on. You don't need to copy the whole post if it isn't all relevant, but it's easier to see what you're replying to if you show it in a quote. Failure to abide to these rules will result in warnings and in some extreme cases; bannings. The rules are stricter than the rest of the forum as it's for mature discussions, so learn to respect the authoritah of the rules or just leave the area. If there's something that you'd like added or changed, just post a message here. It's the draft version of it really, and I'll probably end up bolding important words and adding lists to emphasize the point of the rules later on. ...And yeah...follow the rules and stuff Pinned - Ace |
